Chapter 565: Chapter 564: Has Anyone Ever Washed Your Hair For You?
"Did you get this injury from a fight? Young people shouldn’t always resort to violence. Sit down and talk things through - what problems can’t be solved that way? Just a few days ago, two young men ended up bloodied over trivial matters. It’s just not worth it!" The nurse was a middle-aged woman, busily disinfecting his wounds while offering her heartfelt advice.
William Griffith unusually sat obediently in the chair, but he didn’t argue.
"You’re his girlfriend, right? It doesn’t look good for your handsome boyfriend to be fighting all the time," the nurse playfully said, making Cherish Turner blush.
"Yes, I understand. I won’t let him get into fights anymore," Cherish murmured, clutching his coat tightly.
After treating his wounds at the hospital, Cherish took William back to his apartment in Silver Shen.
It had been quite some time since Cherish had last visited William’s apartment. As he would routinely come by her place, she never needed to visit. The moment the door opened, an icy gust swept through the apartment. Turning on the lights, the apartment became instantly illuminated. On the shoe rack by the entrance, the same pair of check-patterned slippers was still there, the ones she used to own.
Cherish paused in surprise before she finally changed shoes and headed towards the living room.
Without a word, William plunked himself onto the couch, his deep voice saying, "Cherish, I want to take a bath."
"I’ll get the bath ready for you." Cherish responded, busying herself to get things organized.
Oddly, the check-patterned pillow on the couch, the sheets, quilt cover, and pillowcases in the bedroom, even the towels, shampoo, and body wash in the bathroom, everything was as it was when she left, untouched. She even suspected that the next-door apartment still contained infinite sets of clothes, dozens of rings bought during a crazy shopping spree, and a pair of crystal shoes from Paris.
Cherish left the bathroom, noticing him still wrapped up in bandages on the right hand.
How would he wash his hair? It didn’t look convenient.
Without further ado, Cherish brought a chair into the bathroom, then called out to him, "William, the bath is ready. Please come."
As expected, William got up and leaned against the door to the bathroom, curiously asking, "Are you going to wash me?"
Cherish checked the water’s temperature with one hand, holding a towel in the other. "Please take a seat."
"Sit?" William raised a brow, suddenly puzzled.
The water was just about right when Cherish turned toward him, treating him like a child. "Come on, sit down!"
William stepped forward, approaching her. She patted his shoulder, leading him to reluctantly sit. Whilst looking confused, she asked him to lower his head towards the bathtub. The next second, her soft hand touched his hair. Holding the shower head in one hand, she let the warm water moisten his hair, causing him to freeze in astonishment, listening to the sound of flowing water.
Cherish dispensed the shampoo into her palm, trying to adjust the strength appropriately, and asked, "Is this too much pressure?"
"No," William responded, sulky.
As she massaged the rich lather into his hair, it reminded her of her mother washing her hair when she was a child. "When I was a child, I had very long hair that I could never untangle by myself, so my mother would wash it for me. William, has anyone ever washed your hair for you?"
While the warm water gently rinsed the lather away, William’s thoughts started to wander and intertwine.
He remained silent throughout, pursing his lips as though he were unwilling to recall certain memories. But memory is like an inescapable wind, it invades from all directions, consuming him completely. Vague yet clear images of a beautiful face danced before his eyes, ceaselessly haunting him. Even closing his eyes wasn’t enough to forget.
