Chapter 559: Chapter 558: Not a Crybaby
William Griffith stubbed out his cigarette and walked over to her, "Let me clean it up."
"Be careful of the broken glass," Cherish Turner quickly whispered, afraid that he would get hurt.
William’s stubborn streak acted up, warding off her hand to keep her from moving. He silently toiled away, clearing the shards of glass, and then grabbed a tube of cooling ointment from the medicine cabinet. As Cherish stood there, he suddenly scooped her up in his arms and headed towards the bedroom.
Cherish kicked her legs, anxiously shouting, "William, what are you doing? Put me down!"
As she cried out, William had already carried her into a bedroom. Gently laying her down, he began to undress her. He barely exerted any force and was incredibly tender, but she couldn’t resist. With wide eyes, she looked at him and he said in a deep voice, "Let me see your back."
Cherish stopped struggling, softly saying, "I’m fine; it doesn’t hurt at all."
William furrowed his brows but relaxed them almost instantly. He touched her cheek with a big hand and nonchalantly said, "When you’re in pain, cry and shed some tears; men tend to soften up."
"But I’m not a crybaby," Cherish childishly replied.
Chuckling, William couldn’t help but smile, leaving her feeling embarrassed. Shifting gears, his expression turned serious. "Let me apply some ointment for you."
William deftly removed her clothes and turned her body around in his arms. As he lowered his head, he saw a red mark on her smooth, fair skin. The blow from the cane must have been incredibly painful. Regardless of her petite and thin frame, she endured the pain without a peep, her stubbornness infuriating.
Still, she managed to console him with her comforting words!
An unfamiliar surge of emotion rushed through William’s heart, and he couldn’t help but lower himself to kiss the wound. The tingling sensation made Cherish blush. As she laid face down on the soft bed, she gripped the bedsheets and bit her lip. "William, I thought you were going to apply the ointment?"
With a grunt, William opened the tube, and his finger scooped out the light green ointment, which he gently applied to her wound.
The cool ointment released a refreshing mint aroma. The searing pain on her back had indeed subsided - though it was unclear whether it was due to the ointment or his kiss.
After carefully applying the ointment, William put the tube down, and Cherish attempted to get up to cook. However, he quickly pulled the covers over her and imperiously said, "Lay down and don’t move!"
"But we haven’t eaten yet."
"We’ll order takeout."
"But the ingredients are all ready; let me cook." Cherish remembered he had once said that he would enjoy anything she cooked.
Pressing down on her shoulder to keep her still, William uttered two words: "My turn!"
"Huh?" In a daze, Cherish watched as he walked away.
Oh my God, is he going to cook?
Cooking in such a confined space probably isn’t an easy task.
Cherish gazed at his towering figure, and a profound sense of happiness welled up inside her.
Biting back a laugh, Cherish didn’t dare ridicule him at that moment. "Let me help you!"
"I said I’m doing it!" William barked before leaving the kitchen. He brought her a chair, insisting she sit down, then fetched a blanket from the sofa to cover her. Once everything was ready, he hastily tied on an apron. "Tell me what to do, and I’ll do it."
