Domineering Love -
Chapter 558 - 557: Never Hate You
Chapter 558: Chapter 557: Never Hate You
William Griffith stopped speaking, Sophie Wood gestured at him to leave quickly.
Sophie was not a bad person, and as a woman, she did feel sympathy for Cherish Turner.
"Have you ever asked Sophie if she’s willing?" William finally spoke, his voice low and stirring, "She is a person, not a chess piece for you to move as you please. Besides, I don’t love her. Such a marriage won’t bring her happiness." Surprisingly, Sophie was not angered by William’s words; he was being honest, at least.
Robert Griffith’s anger swelled, and his face turned red, "Revolt!"
May Campbell rushed to Robert’s side, gently stroking his chest, "Old Man, the doctor said you can’t get angry anymore!" She looked up at the two of them, "You’d better go!"
"William, don’t anger your grandfather," Mother Griffith urged, fearing that Robert would get sick.
William fixed his gaze on Robert, who lay in bed, and suddenly said, "You always make decisions on your own, that’s why you can’t keep people around."
His words seemed to touch a deep wound hidden in Robert’s heart, making the old man’s gaze freeze. Afterward, a stifled anger rose, and he clenched his teeth, swung a solid wood crutch at William, and shouted, "You bastard!"
The crutch came so quickly that no one could react, and William did not dodge it.
In that instant, Cherish instinctively moved to protect William. The crutch struck her hard on the back, causing her to suppress a painful groan as the crutch clattered to the floor.
"Cherish!" May didn’t actually dislike Cherish Turner. She might even like the girl if they were not involved, and besides, her grandchild Lewis did like her as well. She rushed towards Cherish, "Are you okay?"
"I’m fine," Cherish mumbled, managing a smile despite the pain that was making it difficult for her to stand.
"Get out of here!" Robert, momentarily stunned, stubbornly refused to back down and yelled. He laid back down, his breathing becoming labored.
"Old Master Griffith, please stay calm!" the nurse anxiously called out.
"Get out... get out..." Robert repeated, murmuring, "I regret letting you take charge of the Griffith Family..."
May looked at William pleadingly, "Just take her and go! Don’t make your grandfather angry anymore!"
William glanced at Robert, but the old man had turned away, eyes closed, unwilling to see him. He said nothing more and left with Cherish. As soon as they were gone, Robert opened his eyes again, their depths reflecting only darkness.
The chilling wind howled as the car sped down the road at a frightening pace.
Upon returning to Cherry Blossom Garden, shards of glass still littered the floor. Cherish hastily began picking them up, saying as she did, "It’s normal to be temperamental when you’re sick. I used to be the same way when I was ill, so don’t take what was said to heart."
William lit a cigarette, watching her with a detached expression, "One day, you’ll hate me too."
"I won’t." Cherish paused, stood up and shook her head, "William, I won’t."
"No matter what happens, I will never hate you. Never." Her gentle smiling face was close to his, looking at him earnestly. In that moment, William’s heart became incredibly serene.
