Chapter 554: Chapter 553: She Is the Right One to Be His Bride
At this time, in the suite next door, Madam Griffith May Campbell was talking with Sophie Wood.
"Sophie, I have talked with your mom on the phone, and she has no objections. So, Uncle Griffith wants to take advantage of the 30th anniversary celebration to set this matter, which will also ease your mother’s worries. Your mother’s health hasn’t been good lately; she also wants you to have a dependable support as soon as possible."
Without a doubt, May Campbell genuinely liked Sophie Wood. At least she was much more suitable than Cherish Turner.
Wood Family and Griffith Family had a long history, and Sophie was a good girl who had grown up before their eyes; whether it was for the need of their marriage alliance or their relationship with Sophie’s mother, this marriage was determined from the beginning.
Since Yannis Griffith was a few months younger than Sophie, the elders of both families decided on William.
Every time she was asked about her opinion of William Griffith, she always said she liked him.
Naturally, everyone had assumed they were a couple.
Sophie Wood was also aware of this predetermined marriage, but she had no idea about what happened today. Listening to May Campbell’s words, she spoke softly, "Auntie, actually, I..."
Just as she was about to speak, someone knocked on the door.
A subordinate shouted anxiously, "Madam, Miss Wood, the old master has fainted!"
What! May Campbell and Sophie Wood were both shocked at the same time and rushed out in a hurry.
As they walked out of the room, they saw William Griffith carrying Robert Griffith out of the suite and hurriedly rushing towards the elevator. May Campbell hurried over without caring about anything else. Sophie Wood was about to step forward when she saw Cherish Turner coming out of the suite. She stopped, hesitated, and said to Cherish Turner in a solemn voice, "Miss Turner, can you take a taxi back first? Once the situation here stabilizes, I’ll talk to you."
Cherish Turner glanced at the elevator door closing, and William’s figure suddenly disappeared. She spoke softly, "Alright."
Sophie Wood immediately took another elevator and left, leaving Cherish Turner alone, not knowing where to go. The building wasn’t very high – just ten floors. She just wanted some peace and quiet, so she decided to take the stairs down. One step at a time, she walked down from the tenth floor to the ground floor. But her purse was still in William’s car; she had no money, no cell phone, nothing.
At the banquet, there was still laughter and jovial conversation. The guests seemed not to be disturbed.
Cherish Turner walked out of the hotel alone. A cold breeze blew in her face, made her shiver, and caused her whole body to tremble. However, she didn’t wrap her arms around herself; instead, she felt that the cold wind helped her to clear her head somewhat.
Neon lights flickered, and things appeared a bit blurry and dark before her eyes.
Cherish Turner walked with her head down, wondering how she would go home.
At this time, a figure emerged from a parked car by the roadside. The man wore a neat suit and silver-framed glasses that gleamed white in the dark, making him stand out. Daniel Peacock watched as she slowly approached, not moving an inch. However, she passed by him like a wandering ghost, not even noticing him.
Daniel Peacock’s handsome face showed a hint of concern as he quickly went around the car and caught up to her.
"Cherish Turner!" Daniel Peacock reached out and grabbed her arm, calling her name out loud.
Cherish Turner looked back calmly, saw him, but didn’t say anything.
The chilly wind was bone-chilling and she was dressed so lightly. Daniel Peacock immediately took off his jacket and draped it over her. But the scent wasn’t the familiar one she knew, and Cherish Turner wanted to refuse. However, Daniel Peacock sternly said, "Do you want to get sick? It doesn’t matter if you get sick, just don’t worry your mother!"
Cherish Turner fell silent and stopped trying to refuse.
