Chapter 541: Chapter 540: Too Intimate

By the time they left the shopping mall, it was already 6 p.m.

William Griffith held numerous bags in his hands but still managed to free one hand to smoke. He walked to the left of her, with his tall figure maintaining a distance of no more than a meter between their shoulders. She glanced up at him and asked hesitantly, "Is it bad that we’re sneaking away like this?"

"If we don’t leave now, we won’t have time for dinner." William exhaled a smoke ring and replied lightly.

Cherish Turner nodded in agreement, thinking it was a fair point. She hadn’t expected him to be so well-liked by the middle-aged women, and could only attribute it to his undeniable charm.

The pair got in the car and immediately drove back to the apartment building.

Once back at the apartment, Cherish pulled out the ingredients from her pocket and placed them on the kitchen counter. She hurriedly washed the rice and started preparing the soup. As she turned to look for an apron, she reached for one in the living room.

William, however, had already grabbed an apron and walked towards her emotionlessly.

"Turn around," he said quietly, with a cigarette in his mouth. While speaking, he slipped the apron over her head and stood behind her, tying the apron’s strings into a bow. Cherish paused, listening to him ask in a deep voice, "Is it good now?"

It felt so intimate...

She hummed in response, then looked at him with a shy smile. "I’ll start cooking now. You can go watch TV in the living room."

William pinched the cigarette between his fingers and glanced at the pile of food taking up the entire kitchen counter. Raising one eyebrow, he asked, "Do you need my help?"

"No, no, I can handle it," Cherish hurriedly declined, thinking it would be best for her to take care of this. Besides, most boys didn’t enjoy cooking and found washing and cleaning a nuisance. Even her father, Bob Turner, didn’t like to cook.

"Should the vegetables be washed first?" William took a puff on his cigarette, put it out, and threw it in the trash. He rolled up his sleeves and proceeded to take the vegetables she was about to wash. She quickly tried to stop him, wanting to retrieve them, "You really don’t have to, be careful not to get your clothes dirty."

"I’ll wash them if they get dirty," he said coldly, pressing a button and rinsing the vegetables under the water.

Unable to out-argue him, Cherish reluctantly withdrew her hand. She cut the fish fillets while occasionally glancing at him. She was certain it was his first time washing vegetables; he didn’t know what he was doing and simply let the water run over the vegetable-filled plate, moving it back and forth.

Ah. She sighed silently in her mind, but found the situation somewhat amusing.

Finally, she couldn’t help but call out softly, "William Griffith."

"What?" William furrowed his brow, staring intently at the plate of vegetables in his hands as if they were in a battle.

"That’s not how to wash vegetables." After some careful consideration, she spoke up gently, knowing it would embarrass him. She wiped her hands on her apron and moved next to him, demonstrating the proper technique. "You’ve rinsed them already, right? Three or four times should suffice. Then, soak them in saltwater for a while before rinsing them again with fresh water."

William found the process a bit tedious but just grunted in response.

This financial tycoon, who steered the economy’s course, was entirely clueless when it came to kitchen matters.

"I’ll prepare the ingredients; can you put them in the pot and start cooking them?" Cherish continued to prepare the vegetables, and saw him nod obediently. The scene felt strangely heartwarming.
