Chapter 540: Chapter 539: Simple Happiness

"I thought we were eating Japanese cuisine," William Griffith said slowly, taking a puff of his cigarette.

Cherish Turner raised her eyebrows, her eyes slightly narrowed. "Yes, we are eating Japanese cuisine, but not at a restaurant."

So, where to?

Under the watchful eye of William, she pointed to a large shopping center not far away. Her eyes revealed her excitement, "Why don’t we buy the ingredients ourselves and cook at home?"

The sunset shone on her face, making her smile as sweet as candy.

What else could he do? William took a puff of his cigarette and silently agreed with a nod.

"Let’s go then," Cherish began walking towards the shopping center.

Quietly following her, he admired her lively steps and the cheerful tune she hummed, just like a cheerful little girl.

As the two were about to enter the shopping center, they were stopped by a security guard at the entrance.

"Sir," the security guard said with a smile, gesturing to a nearby sign. They looked simultaneously and saw the no-smoking symbol. Cherish had previously come alone or with a friend, so she was unfamiliar with the rule. Was this his first time here?

With a sudden, strange feeling, Cherish apologized to the security guard with a smile, "I’m sorry."

William remained silent for a moment before walking to a nearby trash can to extinguish and discard his cigarette.

The large shopping center had six floors in total, each selling different goods based on their category. They needed ingredients for dinner.

So, they took the elevator directly to the third floor, heading for the supermarket for a big shopping spree.

The dazzling array of products was well-organized but also overwhelming.

Cherish grabbed a shopping cart near the elevators and entered the supermarket.

Like a shadow, William followed her every move. He stayed close behind her, wherever she went.

They couldn’t eat too much for their Japanese-themed dinner, so they planned to make sushi and a hot pot. She mentally noted the items they needed, searching for each one. She stopped at a shelf, tiptoeing to reach the top for a jar of seasoning sauce but couldn’t quite grasp it

"This one?" William’s deep voice came from close by as he easily lifted his hand, his long fingers pointing at the jar of sauce.

"That’s the one!" Cherish sighed with relief as he took down the sauce and put it in the cart, even smoothly taking over pushing the cart from her. His simple gesture warmed her heart, but he coldly said, "Hurry up."

Cherish responded with a quick "Okay" and hurried to find the next item.

"Seaweed." After several loops, she finally found the seaweed and gasped softly. Immediately, someone grabbed a packet and placed it in the cart.

Cherish glanced at him, his handsome face suddenly less cold and more endearing, even childlike.

"Cucumber."

"Eggs."

"Pickled radish."

As she mentioned each item, he automatically picked them up and placed them in the cart. They shopped in unspoken harmony, and figuring they had everything, they headed to the cashier to pay. Turning around, they saw a woman struggle to reach a can of tuna from the top shelf.

"Could you help her?" Cherish couldn’t stand watching and asked William softly.

He initially didn’t want to, but seeing her request, he walked over to the woman and silently reached for the can of tuna, handing it to her. The woman thanked him profusely with a grin that couldn’t be closed, "Young man, thank you! You’re such a nice person."

Overwhelmed by the enthusiastic woman, William smiled slightly, making him exceptionally charming.

Other aunties and women shopping nearby became entranced by his smile and chimed in, "Young man, why don’t you help me too!"

William frowned, while Cherish stood off to the side, laughing like a child.
