Chapter 513: Chapter 512: Scorching Temperature

Silence surrounded them, only his breathing echoed in her ears.

"Could you make way?" a woman’s voice came from behind them, obviously a resident of this floor.

Cherish Turner felt embarrassed and hurriedly pushed him away. His arms slightly tightened before letting go. She shyly turned back to see the woman’s impatient expression and quickly apologized. William Griffith remained silent, coldly glanced at the woman, and then leisurely walked out of the elevator.

The woman, frightened by his gaze, lowered her head and hurriedly pressed the elevator button.

As the elevator doors slowly closed, Cherish regretted turning her head and wanted to speak up, but he turned away, silently walking toward the apartment. She grew frustrated, looking at his tall figure and couldn’t find the words to complain. In the end, she only sighed softly, saying, "I’m going to throw out the trash."

But that night seemed to be extraordinarily different.

William sat on the sofa, smoking one cigarette after another.

By the time Cherish finished cooking, the ashtray was full of cigarette butts. She looked over, her eyebrows furrowing even more. He always smoked heavily, but it was even more so now. The cause of this change puzzled Cherish. She quietly left after placing the dishes on the table.

It didn’t take long for her to return.

Cherish brought back a glass of apple juice. Hesitantly, she walked over to him, placing the juice on the coffee table without a word.

William sat silently on the sofa, his shirt collar slightly unbuttoned, revealing his solid chest. A cigarette seemed to be eternally grasped between his left fingers, wisps of white smoke curling away. He stared at the glass, his eyes deep, and casually asked, "What’s this?"

"Apple juice, but it’s not freshly squeezed. I bought it at the convenience store earlier. I think the effects should be similar..." Cherish looked down and spoke softly, while his tall figure cast a shadow over her.

"You..." Cherish took a step back, but he reached out and grabbed her hand, pulling her towards him. She fell, caught between his chest and the sofa. A mysterious fear engulfed her, his breath made her uneasy, she tried to push him away, "Don’t..."

William stroked her small face, whispering, "Don’t worry about me. I’m not a good man."

Cherish felt a slight daze as he released her hand.

"Are you leaving or not?" William looked at her mockingly, "If you don’t leave, I might do something else."

All the more embarrassed, Cherish hurriedly stood up and ran out of the apartment. She rushed into her attic, closed the door, and leaned against it, her heartbeat accelerating, but her mind went blank. Was she worried about him? Even Cherish didn’t understand what it meant.

Her lips still held traces of his breath, burning hot.

The next day, when she cleaned his apartment, she found the glass on the coffee table empty.

With a tiny bit of apple juice residue remaining.

Did he drink it? Cherish felt a bit relieved holding the glass.

However, after that night, William disappeared again without a word. After cooking for two consecutive days, she stopped altogether. No one ate the food anyway. The empty apartment, without the lingering smell of cigarettes, made her feel somewhat uneasy. Yet, when did she start getting used to his cigarette smoke?

This thought startled her.

Maybe, just maybe, she was too bored.
