Chapter 506: Chapter 505: Never Said ’Break Up’
"If it wasn’t a joke, would you take it seriously?" He repeated the words.
Cherish Turner was surprised, opening her mouth to say something, but not a sound came out.
William Griffith’s expression turned serious, staring into her eyes, as if trying to see into her heart, "Cherish Turner, I never said we should break up."
William Griffith stared intently at her eyes, trying to see through her heart and understand her completely. He didn’t wait for her to speak, but resolutely turned and walked towards the clubhouse lobby. His figure moved farther and farther away from her, but kept swaying in front of Cherish’s eyes. She stood still for a long time, unable to regain her senses. What had he said...
"Miss? Miss?" The caddy noticed everyone had left and called out softly.
Cherish Turner murmured a hum, finally coming back to her senses. His figure had already disappeared into the lobby, but her heart couldn’t calm down. Seeing him in the news, she thought they would not cross paths again. She had a hundred reasons not to help him, yet why could none of those outweigh the lame excuse she had thought up overnight with great effort?
After breaking up, they were still friends. He had once said that.
Cherish Turner searched her heart, could she really do it? Just friends?
No, actually she couldn’t.
Because she had once liked him too much.
She only wanted to keep her distance from him, further and further away.
So far away that she couldn’t hear any news about him. That way, she could pretend she no longer liked him.
But why did he say those words?
Cherish Turner suddenly quickened her pace, rushed into the lobby. He had already changed his clothes and was about to leave the lobby to the parking lot. She didn’t have time to change, and didn’t care about anything else. For the first time, she was desperate to grasp something, running towards him, following him out of the other exit of the lobby. Pushing the door open too forcefully, the door slammed shut with a "clang." She rushed out.
"Young Master Griffith." The driver, Chip, opened the door for William Griffith.
Just as William was about to get into the car, someone behind him grabbed his wrist. He looked down and saw a pair of delicate white hands gripping him, the knuckles turning blue.
Driver Chip, being very tactful, quickly retreated to a distance.
Cherish Turner held his wrist tightly, her suit sleeve leaving imprints. She lowered her head and gritted her teeth, asking, "Why did you say that?"
William Griffith silently looked at her, hearing her trembling voice, "Didn’t we already break up? Why are you telling me now that you didn’t mean it! What does this mean?"
Cherish Turner finished speaking in a panic, finally looking up at him.
After a long stalemate, William Griffith didn’t say anything.
For a moment, his eyes flickered with emotion, as if he was holding something back, "It doesn’t mean anything, just remember it."
It was as if someone poured a bucket of cold water on her, waking her up, leaving her shivering in cold.
Cherish Turner stood in place, eventually releasing her hand.
By the time they hurried back from the West Suburb Golf Course to the city area, it was already past the end of the workday. The car was driven directly to Cherry Blossom Garden, dropping her off at home. The car turned the corner, and the community was just a short distance away. The car stopped by the side of the road, and Cherish got out without a word. In front of them, two people were walking towards them, Daniel Peacock and Elijah Butler. They had gone to the supermarket to buy groceries and were carrying a few bags of food.
Second Butler was relaxed and leisurely because all the bags were handed to Daniel Peacock.
The two saw the car and naturally understood that William Griffith had brought Cherish Turner back.
