Chapter 497: Chapter 496: Still Friends After Breaking Up
The tip of her foot gently touched the ground, the big chair turned towards her, and William Griffith looked at her at the same time. She stood in front of him, neither humble nor arrogant, elegant and composed, like a gentle breeze. He picked up the coffee, took a sip, and the familiar taste made him frown as he asked quietly, "Why did you agree again?"
Cherish Turner gave a faint smile and said softly, "We’re still friends even after breaking up."
The only reason she could find was what he had said in the past.
William Griffith’s eyes narrowed as he stared at her faintly smiling face.
It wasn’t until someone knocked on the office door that he shouted, "Come in!"
A subordinate pushed the door open and respectfully said, "Young Master, the elders have arrived and are in the conference room!"
William Griffith suddenly stood up, grabbed his suit jacket, put it on, and headed for the conference room. As he walked past Cherish Turner, she also followed him. The three of them came to the conference room where the four major shareholders, Old Lee, Old Graham, Old Clarke, and Old Quid, were seated. Looking at them, Old Clarke laughed and called out, "William! I haven’t seen you in a long time."
"Uncle Lee, Uncle Graham, Uncle Clarke, Uncle Quid, it’s been a long time," William Griffith replied calmly while sitting down.
Cherish Turner sat next to him, quietly keeping note of the minutes of the meeting.
Cherish only knew that the Griffith family held the most shares, followed by Old Lee, Old Graham, Old Clarke, Old Quid, and then Edward Smith’s family. However, Hailey had returned to Australia, and Edward had gone to accompany her, so they weren’t in the country. This was Cherish Turner’s first time attending a board meeting, so facing these four veteran figures created a suffocating atmosphere that was definitely more intense than an ordinary meeting.
"Young Griffith rejected Grace Harper’s proposal, and I don’t know what happened. The enterprises in Kyoto City that used to have dealings with the Griffith family have now all withdrawn their investments, cancelling $2 billion USD of investment. This is not a small amount," Old Quid said. "You know about the financial crisis back then. If it weren’t for the support of the Turner family, the Griffith family wouldn’t be where it is today. I heard that Grace Harper seems to have some connection with the Turner family in Kyoto City, so it’s a bit unreasonable to call off the marriage now."
"Please rest assured, everyone, I will solve the issue of funding! As for Yannis’s marriage, I will also negotiate properly! I assure you all that I will not bring any negative impact to the Griffith family!" William Griffith said with a heavy voice, weighing his words carefully.
"One-third of Griffith employees are on strike, and I heard you borrowed a hundred people from the five major banks, but the number is still not enough, and the treatment is only a temporary solution." Old Graham added.
"Give me three days, and I will give you all a satisfactory answer," William Griffith simply replied, suppressing the four people present with a single sentence.
Old Lee, the oldest of the four and with the most holdings, pondered for a while before saying, "Alright, we’ll wait for three days!"
As the older shareholders left the room one after another, William Griffith turned his head to look at Cherish Turner. Without waiting for him to speak, she calmly said, "The list of striking employees, their detailed addresses, and contact numbers are all prepared."
William Griffith looked at her for a moment and then asked with a smile, "Do you know what we’re going to do now?"
"Visit them one by one?" Cherish Turner was still somewhat dubious.
William Griffith glanced at her with an enchanting smile.
As soon as William Griffith and his entourage left, someone immediately rushed to report to the overseas department.
Yannis Griffith sat quietly in the office, just hanging up the phone.
"Young Master Yannis, President Griffith has pulled the list of all striking employees, and it seems that he is going to visit them! Do you need to inform the old man? Do we need to take any actions?" A subordinate who received the news reported back, waiting for an answer.
