Chapter 488: Chapter 489: Breakup Fee
The next day, Cherish Turner received a phone call from a law firm.
"Hello, Miss Turner. I am Mr. Griffith’s personal attorney, Benjamin Solomon. Mr. Griffith is transferring 30% of the shares in his name to you today. If you have time, could you please come to the law firm to sign the documents?"
It was 8 a.m., and the call from Lawyer Solomon had awakened Cherish. She hadn’t even gotten out of bed yet and was still in a drowsy state. Upon hearing the calm voice of the man on the other end, her eyes widened, gripping the phone tightly, and her heart clenched, feeling as if something was suffocating her.
Her voice trembling, she hoarsely asked, "Which Mr. Griffith?"
"Mr. William Griffith." Benjamin Solomon said solemnly and continued, "Miss Turner, do you have time this morning?"
With a rush of blood surging, Cherish gritted her teeth and asked, "I have time now, please tell me where the law firm is!"
Lawyer Solomon immediately told her the address of the law firm’s office building. Cherish abruptly hung up the phone, spending only ten minutes washing and dressing before, without eating breakfast, she hurriedly changed clothes, grabbed her bag, and left the house. She hailed a car and headed towards the law firm. Along the way, she was exceptionally calm, like the tranquility before a volcanic eruption.
The law firm was on the twelfth floor of a business office building.
Cherish took the elevator up, and when the doors finally opened, she saw the large characters "Benjamin Solomon Law Firm."
"Hello, I’m looking for Lawyer Solomon," she said to the receptionist as she approached the front desk.
"Please wait a moment, I’ll contact him for you." The receptionist immediately picked up the phone and briefly spoke before hanging up. Just as the receptionist was about to escort Cherish into the office, a tall, thin man proactively came out to greet her. Seeing Cherish standing outside, he examined her from head to toe and smiled, "Miss Turner, I presume?"
Cherish silently nodded her head.
"Please, this way!" Benjamin Solomon’s attitude was unbelievably friendly, as if he were welcoming a VIP.
Cherish followed him into the office and entered his office. The secretary immediately brought them some tea before leaving. Benjamin walked over to the executive desk and gestured, "Miss Turner, please have a seat."
"Thank you." Cherish responded politely, scanning her surroundings; however, she didn’t see any trace of the person in question.
"Miss Turner, this is the Transfer of Rights Agreement for the 30% of shares under Mr. Griffith’s name. Mr. Griffith has already signed and agreed." Benjamin said, as he pulled the agreement from a drawer. "After you sign, the agreement will take effect immediately."
Benjamin took out a fountain pen, removed the cap, and handed both the agreement and pen to Cherish, "If there are no issues, Miss Turner, you may sign."
Cherish glanced at the items he offered and looked up at him, "Lawyer Solomon, I want to see Mr. Griffith."
"Mr. Griffith won’t be coming to the firm," Benjamin replied slowly.
Cherish stared at him and asked, "Then tell me where he is."
"I’m sorry; I don’t know either. Mr. Griffith didn’t inform me of his itinerary."
"It’s fine." Cherish said softly, picking up the agreement and putting it directly into her bag. Just as Benjamin was about to speak, she smiled and said, "I will find Mr. Griffith, and I will take responsibility for everything, Lawyer Solomon, there’s no need for you to worry."
Her determined manner astonished Benjamin, leaving him speechless.
