Domineering Love
Chapter 487 - 488: I Refuse

Chapter 487: Chapter 488: I Refuse

When Cherish Turner arrived at the Cherry Blossom Garden, her father, Sam Turner, and her mother were seated in a side hall of the villa.

Seldom returning home, Cherish’s younger brother, Sam, had many things to do at school. Nevertheless, he was puzzled by his sister’s recent ordeal. Had she left William Griffith only to fall into the arms of Daniel Peacock? He stared at her unblinkingly, eyes searching as if she were a monster, which made Cherish feel a wave of unease.

"Cherish, sit down," her mother beckoned, and Cherish obediently sat down beside her.

Father Turner remained silent while sitting on the leather couch. Instead, Sam across the room glared coldly, questioning Cherish, "What’s going on with you?"

Sam’s frustration led him to directly call out his sister’s name.

"What?" Cherish asked in surprise, feeling completely bewildered by the situation.

Sam couldn’t take it any longer, shouting, "Don’t you know? Look for yourself!"

He immediately grabbed the remote control, turned on the television, and images flashed on the screen.

On the news, the handsome, medieval-looking nobleman, Daniel Peacock, was being interviewed by countless journalists, while the host explained, "Half an hour ago, Mr. Daniel Peacock, president of the Peacock Clan Corporation, publicly announced his upcoming engagement to a Miss Turner. Who could be the lucky Miss Turner who will soon be Mr. Smith’s fiancée? The media will continue to follow the story!"

On the television screen, Daniel faced the eager journalists without responding, maintaining his enigmatic smile.

Cherish, however, was shocked by his words. Engagement? Turner? Who could it be?

"Cherish, is it true that this Miss Turner that Daniel is talking about is you?" her mother asked, looking at her.

"Cherish, did Daniel ever tell you?" her mother asked again.

Cherish was completely baffled and took a moment to find her voice. "I’m sure it’s not me. We must just have the same surname."

"It’s not just the same surname!" A solemn male voice suddenly sounded, accompanied by footsteps.

Everyone looked up. Daniel Peacock’s tall figure appeared, slowly walking into the side hall. His words left them stunned as his gaze swept across William Smith, Grace Smith, and Mother Turner before finally resting on Cherish’s pale, astonished face. Composed, he said, "My fiancée is you."

Cherish never expected Daniel to show up at her house and make such a claim.

But what was this? She’d never thought about marrying him.

Daniel glanced at the Turner family, well aware of Mother Turner’s lingering feelings for him. He had to win her over, too.

"Aunt Turner, I understand that you might find this news incredible. Yes, I let Cheerish down in the past, but I want to make it up to her. Please allow me the privilege of devoting the rest of my life to her. I promise to treat her well and make her feel like the happiest woman in the world. Please give me a chance."

Cherish was about to speak as soon as Daniel finished, and before her mother could respond, she hurriedly interjected —

"Daniel Peacock, marriage is my business, and I’m telling you very clearly: I refuse!" Cherish’s declaration was both hysterical and firm. Daniel was left speechless, unsure of how to respond. He didn’t want to be too forceful, fearing that he might scare her. Still, he wished that she could see that the man she longed for would not take responsibility for her life. Why couldn’t she understand?
