Chapter 478: Chapter 479: Changing for Whom
As if he had encountered some fearsome beast, William Griffith suddenly let go and threw the phone to Hailey Griffith.
"Ah!" Hailey shrieked, barely catching it. Holding back her annoyance, she scowled at William before putting the phone to her ear and hurriedly said, "Sister-in-law, it’s me."
"Hailey, what happened?" Cherish Turner heard the scream and asked worriedly.
"Nothing, nothing," Hailey said casually.
William stood to the side with a serious face, looking unusually calm as he heard Hailey say next to him, "There’s a farewell party for me tonight... yes, can you make it?... That’s fine, just come when you can!... Alright then, bye."
After the call, Hailey looked at William meaningfully, "Brother, I’ve made the call, but now you have to go pick her up."
"It’s not very convenient," William muttered.
"What’s inconvenient? You’re not going to pick her up on foot! You’ll drive!" Hailey suddenly had the urge to smash the phone against his head, to knock some sense into him.
"I didn’t bring a car."
"Then take a taxi."
"It’s hard to get a taxi here."
"If you can’t get a taxi, take the bus!"
Hailey left him with that and walked away.
William continued playing, and after half an hour, he turned to the caddy and coldly asked, "Where do I catch the bus?"
"Um..." The caddy paused briefly before telling him how to take the bus.
William had never imagined that he’d be squeezed onto a bus with a crowd of people. Initially, women would lean against him, but one cold glare from him would freeze them to death, and people around him would voluntarily give up some space. The bus moved slowly, and it took him almost an hour to reach his destination, all the while standing.
When he approached the silver business area, he lingered and looked at the company’s building, waiting.
Crowds of people surged, and employees poured out of the business district’s building, marking the peak of people leaving work.
"Cherish, you got a new hairstyle? It’s so pretty, I want to get mine curled too!"
"I can introduce you to the salon I went to."
"Great, when do you have time?"
"I just took a ten-day vacation. How about after the vacation is over, I’ll take you?"
"Ah? You took a long vacation, Cherish, I’m so envious."
Cherish Turner and her colleague Jiang exited the office building, chatting and gossiping.
Meanwhile, around a nearby corner, nobody noticed the tall figure submerged in the hustle and bustle of the street. He gazed ahead, his eagle eyes burning with the appearance of that petite figure who appeared so calm and indifferent in the crowded street. Her fair, delicate profile, though unassuming, was dazzling.
William noticed that she had a new hairstyle; the slightly sassy tips were no longer neatly straightened but looked more natural and suited her, making her appear even more adorable and charming. If it weren’t for her black-framed glasses, she would undoubtedly attract countless gazes. But for whom had she changed this beauty?
She walked to the roadside, hailed a taxi, and left.
William dashed to the roadside resolutely, also hailed a taxi, and followed closely behind.
Two taxis moved through the endless stream of traffic, one after another.
Cherish was certainly going to attend Hailey’s farewell party.
Even though she knew she might meet someone there.
