Chapter 468: Chapter 469: Face-to-face Confrontation
"Cherish, what’s wrong? Are you okay?" Yannis Griffith gently patted her back, helping her catch her breath and admonishing, "Don’t drink that much in the future!"
"There are tissues in my bag." After vomiting, Cherish Turner sobered up a bit, her voice soft.
Yannis quickly got a tissue for her. Cherish thanked him and took it, wiping away the filth. She was surprisingly calm, seemingly back to her usual state, smiling faintly and saying, "I’m fine now, I won’t drink that much again. This was the first time, and it’ll be the last."
"What happened between you and my brother?" Yannis stared at her profile, asking in a deep voice.
Cherish was silent for a moment before speaking.
Finally, she spoke, calmly saying, "I think...we’re finished." He must have made his choice by now, she thought.
She had also made her own choice.
Yannis seemed to have already anticipated the outcome and wasn’t surprised. For a moment, he didn’t know what to feel.
In Yannis’s memory, Cherish was always quiet, serious, and not very talkative—unremarkable in a crowd. Yet, whether with people or matters, she always maintained a gentle and warm heart, striving to do her best. She was a very well-behaved girl, whose gentle smile put people at ease.
Yannis never imagined that one day, she would lose her temper, throw tantrums and get drunk.
But this unprecedented side of her made Yannis feel even more heartbroken.
Cherish lowered her gaze and whispered, "Yannis, I want to go home." She wanted to go to her home—the one before she met William, where her parents were still her parents, where nothing had changed, where there was no Chloe Turner or Anthony Turner, and where she was still just an ordinary online shop owner.
Cherish turned and headed to a nearby turning point where she could hail a taxi, but Yannis couldn’t bring himself to take a step. As he watched her walk further away, his deep voice rang out in the quiet night, striking straight into Cherish’s heart, "Cherish Turner, being kind to others is being cruel to yourself."
On this seemingly peaceful but not truly peaceful night, Cherish was so distraught that she couldn’t even cry.
As much as she didn’t want to get off, she eventually had to.
On a busy morning, Griffith Corporation was like any other day.
"Good morning, President Griffith."
"Morning, President Griffith."
"President Griffith, you’re back."
As soon as Yannis entered the office building, one employee after another greeted him. Yet, Yannis who was usually warm and gentle, didn’t even acknowledge their greetings. He appeared so furious that it seemed as if he was about to explode. The employees were so intimidated that they didn’t dare to speak and quickly walked away.
Being the peak period for going to work, when Yannis entered the elevator, no other staff dared to join him.
Once the elevator doors closed, people whispered, "President Griffith looks scary."
Yannis took the elevator to a certain floor and hurried to the vice president’s office. He didn’t even knock before pushing the door open.
The door suddenly opened, startling Thomas Harrison who was in the middle of reporting his schedule. As he looked over, he asked in surprise, "President Griffith?"
"Thomas, please step out for a moment. I have something to discuss with President Griffith." Yannis said coldly, his expression solemn.
Thomas hesitated for a moment, but when he saw William nod at him, he promptly left the room.
