Chapter 467: Chapter 468: Even Memories Are Luxurious
Cherish Turner felt sad and drank up the wine in her glass. Maybe it was the stimulation of alcohol, making her mouth feel hot and spicy. She was about to open her mouth, "I ..."
"Ah, it’s so hot." Grace Harper returned from dancing, her face flushed, interrupting the conversation.
All night, Cherish sat alone, drinking. She suddenly remembered what William Griffith had said - when it was really unbearable, she should learn to smile and refuse. Yes, she couldn’t take it anymore; she couldn’t stand him being with another woman. She drank until everything went dark, not wanting to think anymore.
"Buzz~" Someone’s phone was vibrating and spinning on the coffee table.
Hailey had also drunk a lot. She answered the phone, her voice blurred, "Hmm? Second Brother, you’re back. We’re drinking...me, Sister Grace, and my sister-in-law...we’re at..."
About half an hour later, Yannis Griffith appeared at the bar. Elegant but not losing his youthful spirit, Yannis looked quite out of place in the bar, with his extraordinary poise. As he walked, women turned their heads to look at him.
Yannis finally found the three of them in a corner. Seeing a table full of wine bottles, he asked, "Why are you drinking like this?"
Of the three, only Grace was sober, "Yannis, you’re here."
"I’ll take you guys home." Yannis’ gaze lingered between Hailey and Cherish, frowning for a moment.
Grace quickly packed up her things and helped Hailey up.
"I have a headache; I want to sleep..." Hailey was already very drowsy, mumbling.
"Hailey, I’ll take you home to sleep." Grace said, supporting Hailey and leaving the bar.
Yannis watched the two leave and then looked back at Cherish. He walked over to her, extending his hand to help her up, and called out in a deep voice, "Cherish."
Cherish looked up dazedly, and the handsome face in front of her gradually transformed into another one, murmuring, "William."
Yannis paused, the calm in his voice gone, "Cherish, you’re drunk. I’m not your oldest brother."
Cherish was silent for a moment, finally recognizing the person, "Senior Yannis."
"I’ll take you home." Yannis picked up her bag and helped her to her feet.
As they left the bar, Cherish made a fuss about not wanting to go home. Breaking away from Yannis, she saw a bus approaching. The bus slowly stopped, and as people got off, she quickly jumped on.
"Cherish!" Yannis, shocked, chased after her.
Cherish found a seat and rested her head against the window.
Yannis sat in the seat behind her, saying nothing.
The bus didn’t seem to have a destination, just stopping and starting, starting and stopping. Until only the two of them were left on board, it finally reached the last stop, forcing them to disembark. But for the first time, Cherish was stubborn; she refused to get off the bus, not knowing what she was being stubborn about.
"Cherish, we have to get off at the last stop." Yannis gently persuaded.
Cherish’s eyes suddenly filled with tears.
Even the most persistent passenger has to get off at the last stop.
Regardless of how reluctant they are.
Seeing Cherish’s eyes red, Yannis became flustered.
Cherish clenched her teeth, determined to leave something she couldn’t bear to part with, stood up, and stumbled off the bus. As soon as she got off, she felt dizzy and nauseous, as if something was turning in her stomach. She ran to the side and suddenly vomited.
Back at home, faced with the familiar surroundings, she thought of the past and the childish, domineering man. Even with her eyes closed, his shadow filled her vision. Sometimes, even memories were a luxury, something she didn’t want to possess.
Because she was afraid that only she would remain in those memories.
