Chapter 426: Chapter 427: A Tense Confrontation, Jealousy Arises Chapter 426: Chapter 427: A Tense Confrontation, Jealousy Arises Hailey laughed even more mischievously, finding someone especially cute and naive at this moment. Holding her drink, she managed to suppress her laughter and said reluctantly, “Yes, it’s very miserable, very bad. If you don’t believe me, just ask your sister-in-law.”
William Griffith’s eyebrows furrowed, and he glanced sideways at Cherish who had her head down, eating fish. He asked calmly, “Would you like to be my girlfriend?”
As Cherish was eating her fish quietly, his deep voice suddenly rang out, startling her. She forcefully swallowed the food in her mouth, forgetting to chew. She then felt a sharp pain as if something was stuck in her throat, making her uncomfortable. Her face turned red, and she looked quite distressed.
When did she become his girlfriend? Weren’t their relationship just as ambiguous as before?
Although they had done everything that couples should do, calling themselves boyfriend and girlfriend would be…
Hehe.
“Cough, cough!” Cherish coughed lightly, her hand covering her chest.
“What’s wrong?” Hailey exclaimed in surprise, “Did you get a fishbone stuck in your throat?”
Yannis Griffith put down his wine glass and said urgently, “Do you need to go to the hospital?”
“I have tweezers. I can get it out.” Edward Smith said calmly, pulling a pair of delicate, small tweezers from his wallet, surprising everyone.
“You really have everything.” Sam Turner commented indifferently, then added, “Be careful not to use unsterilized tweezers, they may have bacteria.”
This was the first time Sam spoke to Edward, who was not really an acquaintance.
William wrapped his arm around Cherish, insisting, “Let’s go to the hospital!”
At this moment, the quiet Chloe Turner spoke up, her expression serene, “Why not try eating some rice first and see if that helps.”
Chloe stood up, scooped a small bowl of rice for her, and then handed it across the table to the couple.
William looked up at her, silently taking the bowl. He held it with one hand, and fed Cherish with the other. After eating a bite of rice, chewing it a few times, and still feeling a sharp pain in her throat, she forced the rice down. She could feel the foreign object that had been stuck in her throat slide down into her body.
The pain suddenly disappeared, but her throat still felt a little sore.
“Cherish, how are you feeling?” Yannis asked, staring at her.
Cherish touched her throat, shook her head gently, and said embarrassedly, “I’m fine now.”
“You’re not allowed to eat fish anymore.” William seemed relieved, then asked, “Does it still hurt?”
“It doesn’t hurt anymore.” Cherish shook her head again. Seeing him so worried, she felt that even the pain was a kind of happiness. Her gaze unintentionally looked across the table, and seeing Chloe’s calm and tranquil expression, her happiness seemed somewhat uneasy.
William followed Cherish’s gaze and looked at Chloe, saying, “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome.” Chloe responded with a light smile. Her heart felt cold, finding their interactions unfamiliar and distant.
After the fishbone scare, the atmosphere became lively again.
Everyone chatted and laughed, but occasionally there were hidden meanings in their words.
For example, whenever Sam and Edward crossed paths, the atmosphere would become tense. However, Edward responded calmly and wisely, never getting into a conflict with Sam. In Edward’s eyes, this young man who was a few years younger than him seemed to always carry a sense of hostility.
After dinner, the group dispersed, going their separate ways.
The streets were bustling with people and filled with noise from cars and pedestrians.
William’s big hand held Cherish’s small hand as they walked together after dinner, which seemed to have become their usual routine.
Gazing straight ahead, he suddenly called out, “Cherish.”
