Chapter 419 - 419 420 Who Said I Dont Miss You
Chapter 419: Chapter 420: Who Said I Don’t Miss You Chapter 419: Chapter 420: Who Said I Don’t Miss You William Griffith didn’t say a word, and Grace Harper stepped aside to let him pass, watching him walk away. What on earth was going on with her big brother, asking questions about women? It was strange. In Cherry Blossom Garden Apartment, their parents were not at home, and Cherish Turner was washing clothes and bedsheets. When her period came, it was inevitable that the stains would spread. If she didn’t wash them today, leaving them until tomorrow would be even worse. She washed the clothes and hung them one by one on the rack on the rooftop. Freshly washed clothes, with the faint scent of detergent, smelled so good under the sun, fresh and natural.
After hanging up the laundry, Cherish picked up the plastic basin and was about to leave when she turned around and got a shock.
William was leaning against the staircase entrance, smoking and gazing at her intently.
Cherish didn’t know when he had arrived since he always walked so quietly. Holding the plastic basin, she furrowed her brows and said, “Why are you here again?”
“Don’t you want to see me?” William asked back, his tone indeterminate.
Cherish suddenly fell silent, feeling somewhat embarrassed, and whispered, “No, it’s not like that…”
“So you do want to see me?” He exhaled a white ring of smoke, mystifying her.
Cherish felt even more embarrassed and had the feeling that he was just teasing her. She didn’t want to continue this conversation and couldn’t answer this question anyway, so she changed the subject, “Don’t you have to be busy today?”
With one hand holding a cigarette and the other in his trousers pocket, a smile appeared on William’s cool, handsome face. His tall frame moved towards her slowly. Basking in the sunlight, his dark hair and dark eyes were bathed in a golden glow, exuding a powerful aura, making her involuntarily take a step back before steadying herself.
Stopping not far in front of her, he said unhurriedly, “I’m done with my work.”
Hearing this, she didn’t know what else to say, so she just rubbed her slippered feet on the ground and responded with an “Oh.”
“I… I should go in now.” After an extended standoff, Cherish gritted her teeth and, hugging the plastic basin, headed back to her room. As she hurried past him with her head down, he suddenly grabbed her slender wrist, stopping her from leaving. As she looked up in panic, his smile was tenderly domineering.
He pulled her into his embrace, and she let go of the plastic basin. It fell to the ground with a clang, and he dropped his cigarette on the floor as well.
In that moment of confusion, his strong arms held her firmly. She caught a whiff of the familiar tobacco scent, a scent that she missed and found irresistible, enveloped in his warm embrace. Despite the hot weather, she desperately wanted to stay close to him. He bent his body slightly and held her tightly.
“Did you miss me?” His hoarse voice rang out, touching her heart.
Cherish’s eyes moistened, and she shook her head.
William lowered his head and kissed her fair cheek tenderly, then rested his head on her shoulder, inhaling her scent. With a hint of childlike innocence yet not devoid of authority, he said in a deep voice, “But I missed you.”
This sweltering summer continued, the wind rustling past and the clothes flapping with a “slap-slap” sound.
Everything continued, and time didn’t stand still.
But for Cherish, it felt like her life could stop at this moment.
To yearn and to miss.
Perhaps it wasn’t enough to describe her feelings.
But his words, “I missed you,” had sent her heart into disarray. His gentle embrace was right before her eyes, and she truly missed it. It wasn’t that she didn’t miss him; she was just fooling herself.
