Chapter 420: Chapter 421: Thump Thump Chapter 420: Chapter 421: Thump Thump “Cherish, let’s stop fighting, okay?” William Griffith spoke again, his voice so gentle it could make anyone surrender.
Cherish Turner took a deep breath, hesitating before finally reaching out to touch his broad back. She nestled into his shoulder, allowing him to take her full weight, suddenly feeling light and at ease. She nodded and murmured a single “mm”. The answer she’d long sought didn’t seem as important after all. She wondered if this was naivety or infatuation.
His words nowadays carry the weight of a thousand catties, yet they’re made up of only three characters.
——I miss you.
He had never spoken these words before.
William Griffith cradled her face, gently kissing her, worshipping her lips which gradually regained their color from the pallor to a vivid red. His fingers brushed over her lips, his smile suddenly brightened, but then playfully frowned, “How come you’ve lost so much weight in just a few days? Were you missing me that much?”
Cherish Turner’s face turned red and she stammered, “I didn’t.”
Even if she was missing him so badly that she had to focus on work to distract herself, she didn’t have the courage to admit it in front of him.
Especially when he was teasing her in such a naughty way.
“It’s windy out here. Let’s go in.” Seeing her forehead covered with sweat, William Griffith didn’t tease her anymore.
Hand in hand, they returned to the 9th floor. Upon opening the door, they found the apartment filled with loads of new items piled on the floor like a small mountain. Chicken, longan, milk, apples, and many other things. What’s more, why was there a huge smart refrigerator taking up a space? On the cabinet behind, William Griffith had even bought some tropical fish which were especially beautiful. This house finally seemed to have some life.
Cherish Turner stood at the door, stunned.
Someone’s hand lightly stroked her arm and drew her into his embrace. Startled, Cherish Turner turned her head to find William Griffith bending down to whisper, “I bought these for you.”
Cherish Turner came to her senses, glancing from the heap of food on the floor to the giant refrigerator and whispered, “But why did you buy a refrigerator?”
It seemed too big, and there was no place to put it.
“For your stuff.” William Griffith held her as he walked into the flat, sitting her down on the couch. He then took off his coat and threw it aside casually, rolling up his shirt sleeves, ready to move the table and chairs to make space for the refrigerator. Without much effort, he moved the furniture into new positions.
A corner was now free, perfect for the refrigerator.
With his sleeves belaying down, William Griffith was about to roll them back up when Cherish got up and walked over to him. She stood in front of him and reached out to roll up his sleeves for him, fold after fold, in three rounds. She then let go and grabbed the other sleeve to do the same. In a soft voice, she said, “Isn’t this easier?”
William Griffith looked down at her, letting her move like a child.
“Done.” Cherish Turner smoothed his sleeve cuffs, making both symmetrical. She raised her head, only to find him gazing at her in silence. Perplexed, she asked, “What’s wrong?”
William Griffith suddenly burst into laughter, the reason for which seemed mysterious.
“Why are you laughing?” Cherish Turner muttered, her face flushed with embarassment.
“Cherish is really clever.” William Griffith wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her close to him. He leaned into her again to reward her with a kiss on her forehead.
Cherish Turner was taken aback, her already blushing face now redder, and her heart pounding rapidly.
