Chapter 400: Chapter 401: Is it a Cold War? Chapter 400: Chapter 401: Is it a Cold War? “I’ll leave first. Goodbye.” Cherish Turner said softly, then picked up her bag and left.

There were still no phone calls, not even a text message. That day, he asked her to stay away from Yannis, but what about himself? Why were there so many women around him who had unusual relationships with him? Chloe Turner, Emma Hall…

Was this a cold war?

Cherish didn’t even know what to call this situation.

Even when they lived in the same city, it felt like there was an entire ocean between them, so vast that she couldn’t see where there was a shore to anchor herself.

She would check her phone from time to time on the first day. Then as days went by – the second, third, fourth days, she finally calmed down. Going back to her single life actually wasn’t so bad, and she should have been used to it. She filled her days with activities, such as attending department gatherings and visiting the print factory with Little Jiang.

She left home early in the morning, only to return when it was already dark outside.

“Cherish, you seem to be working tirelessly,” Little Jiang exclaimed, picking up her bag. “It’s already off-work time. Are you staying for overtime?”

Her desk was piled up with design drafts waiting to be processed and proofread. Cherish, immersed in work, said softly, “There’s nothing much to do after work anyway. I’ll be done soon. You can go ahead. Bye.”

“Alright, I’m leaving then. Bye.” Little Jiang waved and left with a smile.

In a blink, Cherish was the only person left in the office. The clicking sound of the keyboard, “pada”, “pada”, made the silence more obvious. It wasn’t until it started to get dark outside that she began to pack up. The building only had a few cleaning staff and security guards who recognized her and greeted her, “Miss Turner, off work now?”

“Yes, off work. You guys should also go home early.”

When she got home, Mother Turner hadn’t yet gone to bed. These days, she had noticed her daughter acting strangely, seemingly downcast.

And Cherish seemed to have not mentioned William Griffith in a long time. What was going on between the two?

Mother Turner pulled her daughter to chat. Cherish held her mom’s warm hand, feeling a sense of calm. She chattered about work, the busyness of her job and the projects they were working on at the comic book company. She tried her best to smile brightly, not wanting her mother to worry about her.

After listening to her for a while, Mother Turner brushed back the stray hairs behind Cherish’s ears and gently said, “My daughter is not happy.”

Cherish paused, a sour feeling welled up in her heart.

“What happened?” Mother Turner asked with a concerned gaze.

Before tears welled up in her eyes, Cherish threw herself into her mother’s embrace. She leaned her head on her mother’s shoulder, rubbing her cheek against her like a child, and said softly, “The comic book company has been very busy lately, and I’m so tired. Mom, I want to go on vacation with you for a few days.”

“Shall I arrange the time?” Mother Turner asked softly, stroking her hair.

Cherish nodded.

One sunny afternoon, the bright sunlight cast down on a few figures at the West Suburb Golf Course. The caddy stood quietly by, ready to serve the two gentlemen at any time. The two men stood on the lawn, dressed in golf attire: polo shirts, one black and one white, with long trousers and leather cleats.

These two were none other than William Griffith and Yannis Griffith.

As the two continued to play golf, William stared at the direction of the hole ahead, while Yannis stood behind him and asked, “What’s the story between you and Miss Hall?”

“Friends.” He replied with a simple two words, adjusted his grip on the golf club, and prepared to swing.

Yannis crossed his arms, “I thought she was your ex-girlfriend.”
