Domineering Love
Chapter 394 - 394 395 Inexplicable Envy

Chapter 394: Chapter 395: Inexplicable Envy Chapter 394: Chapter 395: Inexplicable Envy Cherish Turner went alone to the apartment at Deep Wave Mansion, cooking soup and preparing meals.

When the sound of the door opening rang out, she poked her head out of the kitchen, “William Griffith, you’re back.”

William’s tall figure stood at the entrance, taking off his shoes. After changing into slippers, he lit a cigarette and walked over to watch her bustling about in the kitchen. Cherish was peeling a cucumber when she seemed to think of something and began to speak, “Tomorrow is Friday, we…”

“I have something to do tomorrow.” He interrupted her without waiting for her to finish, his voice firm.

The unfinished words were swallowed back down, and in her distraction, Cherish’s knife slipped and nicked her finger. Blood flowed out immediately, and she frowned in pain. However, William was unaware and turned to walk into the living room. The noisy sounds of the television soon filled the apartment, and she washed her finger under the tap.

Let’s watch the ballet together.

The half-spoken sentence and the two ballet tickets they’d acquired.

What was happening on Friday night?

On Friday evening, Cherish went home alone and cooked herself some noodles.

William had told her yesterday that he had something to do on Friday. She didn’t ask what it was but understood that if she asked, he wouldn’t say. Unless, of course, he offered the information willingly. Curling up on the sofa, she held a pillow against her chest and scrolled through the TV channels with the remote, unable to find a satisfying show to watch.

“Beep beep—” Her phone rang.

Cherish picked it up and saw an incoming call from Yannis Griffith.

She answered the call and a hearty male voice offered greetings. Yannis asked what she was doing this weekend, and she said she wasn’t going out. He then asked if she was home, she made a sound of affirmation, and then he fell silent for a moment before quietly saying, “Tonight, there’s a ballet performance. Aren’t you going?”

“Although I already promised Hailey, I feel a little sad about going by myself.” Cherish said softly, holding her phone and turning to the side.

There was a moment of silence at the other end of the phone before Yannis’s voice lowered, “As it happens, I’m also alone and can’t find anyone to accompany me. How about you come with me? I’ll come to pick you up right now, and I’ll be there in about half an hour. You should get ready, and I’ll see you later.”

Before Cherish could say more, Yannis had already hung up. But how could he be alone when he was supposed to be going with Grace Harper?

As expected, within half an hour, Yannis drove to the building where she lived. Cherish went downstairs with her bag to see him sitting in the car, smiling at her. He got out of the car to open the door for her, just as gentlemanly as always. As the car moved forward, Yannis said with a smile, “It’s a good thing you’re alone, or else I would have no idea who to ask to come with me.”

Cherish looked at him, and Yannis casually steered the wheel, saying, “Hailey and Edward Smith are together, and Grace isn’t feeling well, so she’s resting at home.”

Having heard his explanation, Cherish simply responded, “Oh.”

But in her heart, she wanted to confirm one thing even more.

Would William go?

Who would perform in the ballet, Emma Hall?

The giant LED screen outside the theater played clips of the ballet performance by the New York City Ballet, one of the top five ballet companies in the world. It was just after six, the performance scheduled to begin at seven, but the theater’s lobby was already filled with audience members waiting to see the show.

Cherish walked silently into the lobby alongside Yannis, their eyes scanning the numerous advertising banners hanging around the hall. Cherish couldn’t help but be attracted to the image of the Swan Princess and found herself staring at Emma Hall in the advertisement. Suddenly, her heart felt a little sour, a feeling of envy and longing she couldn’t dispel.
