Chapter 391: Chapter 392: It Seems You Miss Me A Lot Chapter 391: Chapter 392: It Seems You Miss Me A Lot By the time they left the pub close to midnight, everyone went their separate ways.

After leaving the pub, several people hailed taxis to leave. Knowing in advance that they would be drinking, they didn’t drive themselves and left their cars at the company. Grace Harper drove back on her own, as she didn’t want to be a third wheel for her sister-in-law and Edward Smith.

“Bye.” Hailey Griffith waved her hand, and Edward Smith nodded at her.

After everyone left, Edward Smith casually wrapped his arm around Hailey Griffith and generously offered, “I’ll take you home.”

“That’s very nice of you. I didn’t expect to have a knight in shining armor.” Hailey Griffith laughed, not bothering with any male-female formalities, acting so naturally.

They hailed a taxi and got in, one behind the other.

The car slowly moved forward, and Edward Smith glanced at Hailey Griffith, casually asking, “Where’s your student boyfriend?”

“Who?”

“A few days ago at school, I saw a boy with you who seemed very close to you. Isn’t he your boyfriend?”

Hailey Griffith then remembered meeting Sam Turner once, but were they close? They were actually discussing breaking up.

Hailey Griffith murmured Sam Turner’s name, a slight smile at the corner of her mouth, “We’re not that kind of relationship.”

He probably doesn’t want to continue with her anymore.

The car bumped along the road, and her head resting on the window did as well. He gently pulled her over, leaning her against himself.

“Why are you doing this?” Edward Smith’s voice was low and deep, resonating in the quiet car.

Hailey Griffith closed her eyes, feeling so tired, she just wanted to sleep. She leaned on Edward Smith, speaking as if to herself, “How nice it would be if I didn’t like someone so much.”

“Silly girl, you’re still so young. You don’t understand anything.” Edward Smith gently caressed her.

“I always thought… I always thought…” Hailey Griffith’s eyelashes trembled, utterly desolate, repeating the words “I always thought” over and over, whispering, “I always thought… I wouldn’t like him that much…”

“Hailey, you’re tired.” Edward Smith said lightly.

Hailey Griffith really did feel tired and sighed, “I want to sleep.”

Edward Smith stared, remaining silent.

Edward Smith looked out the car window. The reflection in the glass was not of himself. It was a gentle, weak face, with a stubborn and serious character. Where should she go from here?

What exactly does it feel like to miss someone?

Perhaps it’s like a lemon, sour with a hint of bitterness.

After a full day of work, she left the office with her colleagues. Or maybe she was waiting for a call from someone. She walked silently out of the office building, paused in her steps, only because she saw that long-lost figure.

He leaned against the car, smoking a cigarette in his unchanging posture.

All the uneasiness and uncertainty disappeared with his appearance.

Cherish Turner clutched her purse, running towards him with big strides. Finally reaching him, she raised a smile on her face and whispered, “You’re back.”

William Griffith deeply gazed at her, touched her face with his large hand, lowered his head to kiss her lips, and teased with a mischievous smile, “It seems like you missed me a lot.”

Cherish Turner bit her lip and stubbornly mumbled, “I didn’t.”

“Lies will be punished,” William Griffith whispered in her ear, and seeing her face turning red, he laughed lightly and helped her into the car.

Cherish Turner knew he was taking her to dinner; this must have been their tradition by now.

After dinner, the two walked quietly nearby. The path was lined with French sycamores, trees with falling leaves, and a gentle breeze, making for a very pleasant, romantic ambiance. Walking side by side, his large hand held her small one the whole way. Cherish Turner secretly slipped her other hand into her coat pocket, where the ring still remained.

There were small shops along the way, and up ahead was a piano store.

The piano store was bathed in warm light, a comforting sight in the dark night.
