Chapter 360 - 360 360 Apologizing That Day
Chapter 360: Chapter 360: Apologizing That Day Chapter 360: Chapter 360: Apologizing That Day She had once thought they would never see each other again. Perhaps one day, when they do meet again, it would be many years later, on some random street, and they would just pass each other like strangers. And yet now, she bit her lip, holding in the words she had bottled up for so long, words about that missed appointment.
She couldn’t possibly go to the United States right now. She had to worry about Anthony Turner’s health, and she couldn’t be irresponsible enough to run off to a foreign land when he wasn’t fully recovered yet.
Chloe was right about one thing, at least: while they may not share any father-daughter bond, they couldn’t change their blood relationship.
She simply didn’t want him to misunderstand; that was all.
Her lips quivering, she couldn’t help but call out, “William Griffith.”
William’s tall figure swayed slightly, and his pace slowed at that moment. It seemed as if he was waiting for her answer, for an explanation that could satisfy him. Her trembling voice reached him slowly, making him feel somewhat irritated. The cigarette between his fingers burned, its embers flickering, about to reach its end and extinguish.
“I’m sorry about that day… I…” She wanted to explain, but he spoke first, interrupting her harshly, his voice devoid of emotion, as if disliking something. “You don’t have to say anything.”
Cherish Turner froze, listening to the cold second half of his sentence, “I don’t want to hear it. It doesn’t matter anymore.”
If they had missed their chance, they had missed it. What did any more reasons matter now?
His words pierced her heart, the explanations she had wanted to give now choked in her throat. She couldn’t spit them out or swallow them back down, and it was extremely unbearable.
William’s figure disappeared into the cabin, while she stood rooted to the spot, staring after him.
And the ember finally died.
The sea breeze was no longer gentle, and Cherish could only feel a cold chill creeping to her heart.
At the other end of the deck, Hailey Griffith saw the unnaturalness between her brother and Cherish Turner.
Her own heart seemed to be tangled up as well, wishing they could be together forever.
And suddenly, she thought of Sam Turner, of his cold demeanor that day. Just thinking about it made her heart ache.
“Your brother, and my sister, if they can’t be together, do you think there’s any possibility between us? I can’t let my sister get hurt.”
Yes, he couldn’t let his sister get hurt, so he could just leave like that, just walk away.
Even though they were still children, who said children didn’t have true feelings?
Edward Smith, the man Hailey had brought along, was also a close male friend of hers. Edward put down the wine glass, his deep and magnetic male voice asking, “It’s quite late, aren’t you planning to sleep yet?”
“No, no, we can talk some more,” Hailey hurriedly shook her head, tightly gripping the glass in her hand. Surprisingly, her gesture seemed quite childish.
“If we chat more, it’ll be dawn.” Edward casually commented and stood up. He began to undress, long fingers unbuttoning his shirt. One button after another was quickly undone, revealing his solid chest. Edward was only a few years older than Hailey, but his body was just the right mix of strong and beautiful.
Hailey’s eyes widened, taken aback that this seemingly cold man would be so bold and assertive. She nervously put down the glass and stood up, stammering, “Edward, actually… we’ve just started, and we’re not that familiar yet. Familiar enough to…”
“Not yet familiar enough to undress in front of each other.” Edward finished her sentence, sounding exceptionally calm.
