Edward Smith looked at her lowered head, just turning and walking towards the bathroom, “I just want to take a shower and sleep.”

Hailey Griffith couldn’t believe it, was this man for real?

“I’ll sleep on the couch.” Edward Smith interrupted her words in a deep voice, stopping in front of the bathroom and glancing at her with indifference. He saw her dispirited expression, such a shrewd woman, yet there was a bit of naive longing in her eyes. He curled the corners of his lips, the smile faint and soft.

Hailey Griffith didn’t expect him to say that, and by the time she realized, Edward Smith had already entered the bathroom.

The sound of water started splashing, troubling a certain heart.

After taking a shower, Edward Smith indeed nested on the long couch to sleep. Hailey Griffith also took a bath, and when she came out and checked, it seemed he was already asleep. She quietly lay down on the bed, pulling up the covers, taking one last glance at Edward Smith. She sighed soundlessly, then turned to look at the night sky outside the small window.

That night, a sleepless night.

The second day of the voyage, everyone looked pretty energetic, but how they truly felt, only they knew. Everyone gathered in the ship’s dining room for breakfast, the chef prepared a bountiful and delicious meal. Among them, only Grace Harper was complaining, “I woke up with such a headache today, I will never drink that much again.”

“What happened, Grace? Does it still hurt now?” Hailey Griffith turned to look at her, asking with concern.

“A little.” Grace Harper rubbed her temples, her beautiful eyebrows knitted slightly.

Cherish Turner spoke softly, “Grace, I carry some peppermint oil with me. I will help you apply it later. It may help a bit.”

“Thank you, Hailey.” Grace Harper smiled and thanked her.

But Yannis Griffith showed no expression throughout, seemingly indifferent.

Edward Smith picked up a slice of bacon and handed it to Hailey Griffith. His deep male voice was especially gentle, “Why are you eating so little?”

“I’m not that hungry.” Hailey Griffith shook her head slightly. The truth was she didn’t have much of an appetite.

“Wow, Edward, you’re so considerate.” Grace Harper teased laughingly, blinking ambiguously, “Edward, share how you met Hailey and how you managed to win her over. We’re all curious. Satisfy our curiosity.”

At the dining table, Cherish Turner was sitting quietly, listening to their conversation. She understood that Hailey and William probably had surpassed just being friends.

It’s kind of a pity that things had turned out this way. It probably had something to do with her family. The thought itself made Cherish Turner feel guilty.

William Griffith was drinking wine throughout, seeming not interested in anything.

Looking at his sister, though he had not been as forthcoming as the other men, a part of him still felt sorry for Hailey. That was his sister, whom he loved dearly.

What had Sam Turner done to cause such a significant change in Hailey?

He glanced up, and, suddenly, his gaze met with Cherish Turner’s, their eyes meeting in mid-air.

Cherish Turner choked on the food she was swallowing, causing her to cough with a red face.

What was with his gaze? It made her feel a bit flustered.

Hailey Griffith maintained her composure, and countered, “Who’s to say I didn’t pursue him?”

“Oh? Really?” Grace Harper immediately exclaimed, although she did not quite believe it.

Edward Smith may still be young, but he was already a promising young man who had stepped onto the societal ladder. He came from a background with resources and assets. In reality, he was a perfect match for Hailey. In these aristocratic circles, it was common to get married just after graduation.
