Chapter 344 - 344 344 The Father Who Was Never Called
Chapter 344: Chapter 344: The Father Who Was Never Called Chapter 344: Chapter 344: The Father Who Was Never Called Suddenly, a taxi slowly approached from the end of the road. The taxi stopped on the opposite side of the road, and a woman, with one hand holding various packages and the other holding an umbrella, got out of the car. The wind was so strong that the umbrella was blown sideways, and the woman struggled to hold it up, just covering the packages in her hand, trying to protect them from the rain.
Through the window, Cherish Turner casually turned her head and caught a glimpse of the scene.
The man walking beside the woman in the rain was none other than Anthony Turner. Although she had only seen him briefly at the Turner Family home, she recognized him immediately.
He didn’t have an umbrella, and his whole body was soaked. Cherish’s sister, Chloe, had said that he had some mental issues, like being slightly mentally confused, in any case, he didn’t seem very lucid.
Cherish felt an unexpected surge of sadness, almost to the point of tears. He was, after all, her father. How could Chloe let him wander around outside like this, without looking after him properly and letting him go out on his own?
Cherish hurriedly got up and rushed out of the café.
“Miss, you haven’t paid yet!” The waiter called out in alarm, but she ignored him.
“I’m going to pick someone up!” Cherish hastily replied, her eyes darting past the waiter and towards Anthony, who was walking in her direction.
The waiter, following her gaze, saw an elderly man crossing the road. He realized that the young lady was not lying, so he calmed down.
Anthony also saw Cherish, who was entangled with the waiter. He quickened his pace, wanting to run across the road as he yelled at her, “Cherish! Don’t come out! It’s raining heavily! I’m coming over!”
Chloe had told him that if he wanted to find Cherish, this was the place to be. He was delighted to see her here.
Chloe had also said that he could take Cherish back home today!
Several cars stopped at the side of the road, obstructing their vision.
Anthony walked quickly, stepping into puddles, his shoes filling with water.
“B——” The sudden, loud honking of a horn rose above the sound of the rain and the wind as a private car approached.
Anthony didn’t understand the rules of the road and charged ahead recklessly. Panicking, he turned around and saw a car speeding towards him, only two or three meters away.
With no time to react or dodge, he was knocked to the ground by the car. The driver slammed on the brakes, but Anthony’s body couldn’t bear the sudden impact. In an instant, he was lying on the ground. The packages of food were scattered in the air, and he rolled on the ground a few times, blood mixing with rainwater.
All the food had been bought for Cherish to eat, specifically for a child.
“Ah——” Someone screamed in horror.
Cherish stood at the entrance of the café, her entire body feeling empty, as if her soul had been torn away.
“There’s been an accident! Quickly, call for help!” Voices cried out around her.
Cherish shook herself, then instinctively sprinted out into the rain. The umbrella flew out of her hand, and the rain soaked her clothes and hair. Her clothes clung to her body, and her hair clung to her face. She raced towards him, who was lying motionless on the ground, and hugged him tightly, hoarsely shouting, “Wake up, wake up…” At first, she couldn’t bring herself to call him “Dad.” It was a new experience for her, and she didn’t know how to express her feelings, since she had never called this man “Dad” before.
But by now, Anthony Turner had already lost consciousness.
