Chapter 345 - 345 345 Will the Undone Fate Be Terminated
Chapter 345: Chapter 345: Will the Undone Fate Be Terminated Chapter 345: Chapter 345: Will the Undone Fate Be Terminated The torrential rain continued, as the crowd gathered. A frail girl held her blood-covered uncle, screaming for help.
Later, Cherish called out “Dad, Dad,” but no one answered her.
The rain kept falling, scattering countless items around, from snacks to chocolate bars on the side of the road.
She didn’t know what he was doing with those things, but her heart was empty.
Cherish, frightened, held tightly to Anthony Turner’s hand.
As they awaited the ambulance’s arrival, medical staff lifted Anthony onto it. Cherish, like a zombie, sat in the ambulance on the way to the hospital. Anthony was given an oxygen mask and slipped into unconsciousness. The medical staff around him shouted something unintelligibly, as his mind remained in a blank state, unable to process anything.
Cherish clung tightly to Anthony’s hand, unwilling to let go, not even daring to let go.
Anthony’s hand gradually lost its warmth, as if time itself was slipping from her grasp.
She never told him how she felt, the words buried deep in her heart.
This was her father, and she hadn’t ever called him “Dad.” He couldn’t leave now; Cherish still had so many questions for him. He couldn’t go.
The thought of this man leaving her made Cherish shiver with cold. Her eyes welled up with tears, but she couldn’t make a sound.
Is this how a person feels when they’re in extreme fear and sadness?
Unable to tell if it was rain or tears, Cherish only felt the warm liquid streaming down her face.
The rain washed the world clean as the ambulance rushed through the storm toward the hospital.
“The patient’s breathing is weak, hit by a car, possibly with a head injury! Take him straight to the emergency room! Hurry!”
“Got it!”
Doctors and nurses rushed out, pushing Anthony’s gurney toward the hospital lobby and the elevator to the emergency room. Cherish followed closely, never letting go of Anthony’s hand. When they reached the third floor, a nurse stopped her from going any further into the emergency room.
“Miss, you can’t go in there. We’re doing our very best! Please stay calm!” The nurse tried to reassure her softly, but Cherish was lost.
The door to the emergency room opened, and the gurney was pushed inside. The bright lights were almost blinding. The door closed again, and the light slowly disappeared from Cherish’s sight, as did the light in her heart.
Water droplets mixed with thin traces of blood fell from her fingertips, landing on the floor.
Her phone buzzed incessantly from her pocket, but Cherish had no reaction. She didn’t answer it.
Finally, a passing nurse approached Cherish, tapped her shoulder, and said hesitantly, “Miss, your phone is ringing.”
Cherish looked up at the nurse with a dazed expression.
“Miss, your phone is ringing,” the nurse repeated. Noticing that something was off and seeing her soaked clothes and bloodstains, the nurse realized what must have happened. She glanced back at the emergency room, making out the faint silhouettes of the medical staff struggling to save a life.
Cherish reached mechanically for her phone in her pocket, but her hand was weak, and the phone slipped and fell out, landing on the floor with a clatter.
The ringing sounds echoed louder and clearer in the quiet hospital corridor. Cherish didn’t even notice. Finally, the phone stopped ringing and the screen went dark, returning to silence.
