Chapter 343 - 343 343 Exploration Before Parting
Chapter 343: Chapter 343: Exploration Before Parting Chapter 343: Chapter 343: Exploration Before Parting Soon, the car arrived near the airport. Chloe Turner didn’t know where Cherish Turner was. She could only wait at the exit. After about half an hour, she finally spotted Cherish Turner and Tanigawa, as well as her parents not far away. Chloe quickly turned her back so they wouldn’t see her.
They were talking. Anthony Turner saw Cherish from a distance and wanted to catch up, but Chloe stopped him.
“Dad, Cherish is busy right now. We can’t go now, can we wait until she comes home?”
The old man glanced at Chloe Turner. Confused, Chloe explained, “I promise I will bring Cherish home. Is that alright?”
Only then did Chloe manage to pacify her father. Keeping an eye on Cherish and her parents, she found out which hotel they were staying at before leaving with peace of mind.
When Friday came around, Cherish was restless thinking of William Griffith.
The last deadline on the plane tickets was tomorrow night. In these few days, Cherish had been unable to continue her investigations due to her parents’ visit to Kyoto City. She took them on a tour, with Tanigawa very helpfully looking after her parents. Her parents, of course, were curious about Tanigawa’s identity. She gave a brief introduction and didn’t dwell on it. That night, after a tiring day, Cherish took care of her parents, settling them in the hotel for rest early. But she herself was wide awake.
William Griffith hadn’t contacted her since he dropped off the airline tickets. He really was good at playing hard to get.
All of a sudden, it started to rain heavily in the middle of the night.
The rain wouldn’t stop, pouring the whole night, showing no signs of letting up. By dawn, it was still a fierce storm. Rising early, Cherish looked out of the hotel window to see the heavy downpour falling at a frantic pace. Everything was a blur; she couldn’t see the sky or the outside world.
She cooked some porridge, wanting her parents to have breakfast when they woke up. The hotel room service didn’t taste very good, not as good as what she made herself.
In the afternoon, she had arranged a meeting with a local government official. Cherish had previously asked about the Turner family’s mine incident and wanted to look at some records, so she was going to meet them.
By one in the afternoon, Cherish left carrying her backpack and umbrella. She didn’t include Tanigawa; he had been tired enough these past few days. Before leaving the hotel, she left her phone number and instructed the receptionist to call her if her parents returned. She had business and would be away for a while. The receptionist nodded eagerly, very helpful.
The moment she stepped out of the hotel, the torrential rain hit her in the face, making her clothes slightly damp.
Cherish straightened her back, gripping the umbrella handle tightly, each step firm and resolute.
She hailed a car and headed to that governmental department. They had arranged to meet at a nearby barbecue restaurant.
Perhaps it was because of the rain, but the usually bustling barbecue restaurant only had a handful of customers. It was a little damp inside, but she still chose a seat by the window.
“What’s going on, it’s raining non-stop.” A customer sitting in front complained about the relentless rain, in a bad mood.
“Maybe it’ll stop tomorrow.”
Cherish ordered a cup of milk tea and patiently waited as she held her cup.
She glanced down at her watch, wondering why the person she was meeting hadn’t arrived yet.
Suddenly, a taxi slowly pulled up from one end of the road. The taxi stopped on the opposite side of the street. A woman got out, juggling several bags and packages in one hand while holding an umbrella in the other.
