Chapter 217: Chapter 217: Lewis is Missing 2 Chapter 217: Chapter 217: Lewis is Missing 2 Early the next morning, Cherish Turner had a deep sleep. Due to thinking about things the night before, she hadn’t been able to fall asleep until the early hours of the morning. But as she woke up, she couldn’t see Lewis anywhere.
“Lewis?” Cherish called out, but no one responded. She anxiously tossed the blankets aside, but she still couldn’t find any trace of Lewis.
Putting on her clothes and rushing out of the room, William Griffith was lying on the sofa, looking like he hadn’t fully woken up. Cherish, unable to care about their argument, hurriedly ran over and pushed him awake:
“William, wake up! Lewis is missing!”
William was still somewhat groggy, having not slept well the entire night. He was extremely tired at this moment. Cherish, unable to care about that now, lifted the coat covering him and asked, “Lewis! Where is Lewis?”
“Lewis?” Only then did William jump up, only to discover that there was no sign of their son in the room.
William’s face also turned ugly. He had never been this worried before. He thought he had always protected his child well, but how could he, as a father, not even know when his child left?
He had been truly negligent!
“It’s all my fault; it’s all because we argued last night that Lewis left on his own.” At this moment, Cherish felt soulless. Even though she thought Lewis wasn’t her biological child, he was still a living being, and what’s more, she liked him so much.
“William, what should we do? Lewis is just a child, unfamiliar with the world; where could he go? Ugh…”
Cherish finally couldn’t help but cry. When arguing with William, she hadn’t felt the need to cry, but now, she was truly anxious.
“It’s all my fault, all my fault. If I hadn’t argued, he wouldn’t have left. What should we do if something happens to Lewis?”
Seeing Cherish cry made William’s heart a mess. He couldn’t bear to see either of them in pain. He tried to comfort Cherish, “Don’t cry; everything will be fine. Lewis is my son—I understand him. He’s smart and absolutely won’t be in any trouble. Don’t worry, okay?”
His warm, large palm gently patted her shoulder again and again, calming her down like consoling a child, until her restless heart gradually settled.
“You stay here; I’ll go look, understand?”
“No, I want to go with you. If you go alone, I won’t feel at ease.” At this moment, how could Cherish stand being alone? If she were alone in the hotel thinking about what might happen to Lewis, she would go insane!
“If you go with me, I’ll have to take care of you too, and that will distract me. Be good, alright?” William tried his best to reason with her, but obviously, it was of no use.
“No, William, this time I won’t argue with you. Please let me go with you; it will make me feel better. Please.”
Cherish pleaded, and William, seeing her pitiful appearance, ultimately agreed. After hastily washing up, the two went straight to the hotel management office.
After negotiating with hotel staff, William used some connections to quickly access the surveillance footage from the hallway the previous night. At around two in the morning, Lewis’s figure finally appeared in the corridor.
This little guy, taking advantage of Cherish and William being asleep, had sneaked away on his own!
While leaving, the little guy deliberately made a face at the surveillance camera!
