Chapter 974: Chapter 975: Leaving School
"Yo—I didn’t think I would run into you here."
Feng Yuan waved at Guo Huai and after a moment, he sensed that Guo Huai had indeed approached him intentionally.
"Here, this is for you."
"What’s this?"
Feng Yuan received the glass bottle handed over by Guo Huai with puzzled hesitation. The emerald liquid inside swung with Feng Yuan’s movement. After examining it closely, Feng Yuan said with some astonishment,
"A new potion? Did you succeed?"
"Yes, if you still need me to accompany you back to the Great Li Dynasty, just call my cellphone."
Guo Huai looked at Feng Yuan as he spoke. He knew well that once that guy decided on Maomu Academy, he wouldn’t consider anywhere else. Although the constraints of the academy were not very restrictive for him, the lure of easily accessed quality resources was irresistible.
His system could only provide theoretical data and information. Whether it was for practical training or actual use, he needed to figure out how to obtain these resources on his own. Shaking the bottle, Feng Yuan smiled slightly and looked towards Guo Huai,
"Do you plan to go to Great Xia, Shangjing, or Shenhua?"
"You talk as if I can go to any of these places at will. However, if possible, I’d rather head to Great Xia. Their resources should be the best."
Guo Huai spoke uncertainly. Despite his system’s capability to retrieve information on those top academies, it was limited only to documented data, and having lived through the Star Ocean era, he found such information somewhat unreliable. After thinking, Feng Yuan said,
"Almost. Great Xia’s academies are not as convoluted as the Federation’s. There’s no bad top-tier academy, but with Great Xia Academy, as the war is drawing near, there might be some issues, like having designated instructors who motivate and such."
"War, huh..."
Guo Huai sighed, and Feng Yuan glanced at him and said,
"Looking at you, does it mean that by your time, the Federation was already engulfed in a civil war?"
"Pretty much..."
Guo Huai, looking downcast, seemed reluctant to discuss the topic any further. Feng Yuan, smiling, patted Guo Huai’s shoulder and said,
"Well, now’s not bad, right? The past can’t be changed; we can only hope for a better future."
Looking at Feng Yuan, Guo Huai smiled and said,
"Aren’t you the one who can change the past? But, as you say, it’s not like you can completely forget the past, right?"
Upon hearing Guo Huai’s words, Feng Yuan paused, glanced at Xiao Ji, and sighed,
"Indeed... If I truly wanted to forget, it wouldn’t be impossible... but it seems I might be the only one who still remembers them. I don’t want them to be utterly forgotten..."
Patting Feng Yuan’s shoulder, Guo Huai sighed and revealed a bitter smile,
"The feeling’s mutual..."
"Here, this is for you."
"Is this another potion you procured from somewhere?"
Qi Chen looked curiously at the potion Feng Yuan placed on the table. These past few days, they had been busy packing up their belongings to move out of the dormitory. That guy should’ve had no time to go out searching for raw materials—except perhaps to buy them? The potions he made rarely used ingredients not freshly harvested from the wild. According to him, those ingredients’ effects were best when freshly harvested or harvested in a certain way.
"It’s not from me; Guo Huai gave it to me—it’s for you."
Feng Yuan spoke while packing up his stuff. Upon seeing the computer being packed into a cardboard box, Feng Yuan’s face revealed a slight smile. That computer was specially acquired for Big Cat when he first arrived, but now, Big Cat had created a Data Domain and was busy inside it every day, leaving this computer unoccupied.
"You’re passing along the gift he gave you to me?"
Qi Chen was puzzled for a moment, not quite understanding Feng Yuan’s actions. The gift from Guo Huai was supposed to be something personal, right? He turned his head and saw Feng Yuan speaking disapprovingly,
"Don’t you see what that potion is for? It’s specifically for Wood Spirit Beasts. Do you really think it was meant for me? Dou Yanlan also has one; he seems not very familiar with you guys, so it might have been awkward for him to give it to you directly."
As he understood the situation, Qi Chen couldn’t help but regard Feng Yuan anew. He hadn’t expected Feng Yuan to have such a good relationship with Guo Huai. He didn’t believe that the potion was really meant for Feng Yuan to pass on, considering, as mentioned earlier, he and Guo Huai weren’t very familiar. As the last one to transfer to their school, Guo Huai didn’t have many close friends in their class.
It wasn’t that Guo Huai was disliked; there just hadn’t been enough time. Guo Huai did have some friends in class, but their relationships weren’t as close as those who had been together for three years.
Holding the potion and examining it, Qi Chen realized that this must be a gift from Guo Huai to Feng Yuan or rather, Guo Huai’s intention was for him to choose someone to give it to himself.
Sighing, Qi Chen decided to keep the Potion. He knew very well, even if he didn’t want it, Feng Yuan wouldn’t take it back since it was useless to him, and besides, he indeed needed to support Ah Mu’s growth.
"Thank you."
"He’s not here now, he seems to be busy preparing for the Academy assessment, and he might not come back to school during this period."
Feng Yuan casually said as he placed Big Cat’s computer into Little Green Snake’s temporary space, and, looking around the dorm room they had lived in for three years, Feng Yuan said with some reluctance,
"Graduation is upon us..."
"When do you plan on moving back home?"
Qi Chen asked. Hearing his question, Feng Yuan paused, then turned his head around and said softly with a smile,
"In a couple of days..."
Xiao Ji looked puzzledly at Feng Yuan, not quite understanding his demeanor. Veronia looked enviously at Feng Yuan, then turned her head and glanced at Agunas and huffed coldly; confused by her actions, Agunas shook its tail, not understanding what Veronia was being neurotic about.
"Ultimately, it’s over..."
Looking around the empty dormitory, Feng Yuan said with reluctance, moving to the balcony to take one last look at the small grove. He then turned around, walked back into the room, and gently touched the balcony door. A soft white light flashed, and the balcony door that had been modified for sneaking back in after lights out was restored to its original state.
"After this, there won’t be such interesting things anymore..."
Feng Yuan said with some regret. Those nights sneaking back into the dorm after lights out would likely be a thing of the past, especially since Maomu Academy probably wouldn’t have such rules, so there would naturally be no need for such antics. Listening to Feng Yuan’s words, Qi Chen looked at him speechlessly and said,
"You really do think... what we did was actually quite dangerous."
"But didn’t you do the same?"
Feng Yuan said with a smile, shaking his head. Qi Chen didn’t argue further. Looking around the dormitory restored to its original empty state, Qi Chen also felt a pang of reluctance. He locked the balcony door, and after Feng Yuan double-checked everything, making sure nothing was left behind, he turned around, no longer lingering, and walked out of the dorm, saying,
"Let’s go—time to go home~"
Hearing Feng Yuan’s words, Qi Chen smiled. They indeed hoped that at least, Feng Yuan would feel the warmth of home there.
"Strange, isn’t Dou Yanlan coming with us?"
As they exited the school gates, Feng Yuan looked behind puzzledly and asked Qi Chen, half-expecting her to be waiting there. Rolling his eyes without knowing quite what to say about him, seeing Feng Yuan looking around, Qi Chen rubbed his temples and said,
"She went home, I mean, how could she possibly come home with us? Even if... even if..."
As he spoke, Qi Chen’s face turned red, watching as Feng Yuan and Qi Chen mockingly joked and playfully left the school, disappearing from view. Teacher Yan, who had been silently standing under a tree watching them, turned to leave. At that moment, he saw Teacher Mu standing not far away, seemingly also seeing off Feng Yuan. He smiled at her without saying anything and walked away.
Glancing at the sky, the clear sky was somewhat scorching. With a slight smile, Teacher Mu walked satisfied toward the office building. The most worrying guy in her class had left safely, and moreover, it seemed he was doing well, having quite a few good friends. This way, she didn’t have to worry about him feeling lonely.
After this incident of Feng Yuan inviting Drudgeon, their school was sure to undergo significant development, possibly seizing the chance to enter into the ranks of prestigious schools. For Feng Yuan, who had helped the school, she genuinely hoped he wouldn’t go through the school gates as alone as when he first enrolled.
