Chapter 305: It’s His Daughter
Chapter 305: Chapter 305: It’s His Daughter
Upon hearing this, An Ge was momentarily stunned.
She speculated that Huo Shaoyan might have guessed something.
To cooperate with Mrs. Huo in this plan to reveal the true faces of An Muxin and An Baoying, An Ge decided not to tell Huo Shaoyan the truth for now.
As a result, the words An Ge was about to say were swallowed back. She replied, "No."
Huo Shaoyan’s Adam’s apple moved intensely a few times before he said in a low voice, "Really, nothing?"
An Ge repeated, "No."
At that moment, Huo Shaoyan’s feelings were hard to discern. He seemed a bit disappointed but also something else.
He said nothing further.
Fearing he would overthink, An Ge added casually and asked:
"An Muxin called me again to provoke me. She said you brought her back to the Huo Mansion to nurture her pregnancy. Is that true?"
Perhaps due to feeling low or overwhelmingly irritable, Huo Shaoyan’s attitude toward An Ge suddenly turned much colder.
He said, "What does it have to do with you? Have you not already signed the hundred-billion property agreement? Since you’ve decided to divorce me, whichever woman I bring back to the mansion or have children with is none of your concern."
An Ge felt as though her chest had been pierced with needles, the pain making it hard to breathe.
After a while, she calmly responded, "Sorry, I was out of line."
With that, she ended the call with Huo Shaoyan.
After hanging up, An Ge drove her car into the Huo Mansion parking lot.
After parking, she opened her door and stepped out. Then she walked to the back row, opened the car door, and lifted Huo Chenghuan, who was seated in the children’s safety seat, out of the car.
It was Huo Chenghuan’s first time coming to the Huo Mansion, and she was filled with wonder about everything.
She looked at the centuries-old mansion of the Huo Family, her eyes brimming with amazement.
"Mommy, why are the bricks of these buildings red, but the tiles are green?"
An Ge gently explained, "These... are old buildings from the early Republican era."
Huo Chenghuan then pointed to a centuries-old pomegranate tree laden with red blossoms and asked:
"Mommy, what tree is that? Its flowers are so beautiful."
"That’s a pomegranate tree."
Having watched educational cartoons about pomegranate trees, Huo Chenghuan suddenly understood and exclaimed:
"Ah, a pomegranate tree! I know this! Pomegranate trees are also called ’trees of many sons.’ They symbolize prosperity and abundant offspring. Many elderly people love planting them."
An Ge, distracted, merely replied with a quiet hum.
Noticing her uneasy expression, Huo Chenghuan worriedly asked, "Mommy, are you okay?"
It was midsummer, with long days and short nights.
Although there was still sunlight on the horizon, the sun hadn’t set, and the weather remained sweltering.
Perhaps due to her early pregnancy, An Ge felt persistently fatigued and listless, though it wasn’t a serious issue.
So she said to Huo Chenghuan, "I’m fine; it’s just hot and stuffy."
Huo Chenghuan furrowed her little brows in concern,
"Mommy, you’re lying. It’s because you’re carrying a baby that you have no energy."
Hearing this, An Ge’s heart clenched tightly.
She quickly stopped walking, crouched down in front of Huo Chenghuan, and looked her in the eye, asking, "Huanhuan, how... how do you know?"
Huo Chenghuan, with her big, clear black-and-white eyes, pondered for a moment before saying:
"Before I was discharged today, Aunt Anna came to see you. You both talked about scheduling my surgery at the beginning of next month. Aunt Anna said that since you’re in early pregnancy, participating in this lengthy surgery might affect the baby in your tummy."
An Ge: "..."
Seeing the complicated expression on An Ge’s face, Huo Chenghuan added:
"Mommy, don’t worry. I won’t tell Huo Dazha that you’re pregnant. That way, he won’t pester us."
Then, she frowned and said, "But after Huanhuan recovers, how will we take our brother with us?"
An Ge pressed her lips together for a moment before hugging Huo Chenghuan and replied with a slightly hoarse voice:
"Huanhuan... tonight, I was actually planning for you to reunite with your father..."
Huo Chenghuan resisted the idea, her little brows scrunching tightly like caterpillars,
"Mommy, I don’t want to acknowledge Huo Dazha as my dad. He not only hurt you but keeps letting bad women walk all over us. He doesn’t deserve to be my father..."
Her words made An Ge feel deeply uncomfortable.
After some thought, she explained:
"You can refuse to acknowledge him as your father. But we need to let him know that you are his daughter. Alright?"
Huo Chenghuan didn’t understand why An Ge insisted on this. With teary eyes, she asked, "Why? Mommy, that’s not what you said before..."
"Huanhuan, your identity has already been discovered by Mrs. Huo. Even if I don’t tell your father, she will eventually. We won’t be able to keep it a secret. Understand?"
Huo Chenghuan realized this was a choice An Ge had to make out of necessity.
So she replied, "Then... Then I’ll listen to you, Mommy."
Hearing this, An Ge felt both relieved and sorrowful.
Ten minutes later, An Ge, holding Huo Chenghuan’s hand, appeared at the West Garden where Mrs. Huo was staying.
When they arrived, Fu Rou was also present.
Upon seeing them, Fu Rou immediately scowled.
She was obviously displeased. "What are you doing here?"
Fu Rou had come because An Muxin claimed to have found Huo Huaisang’s biological mother.
But she hadn’t expected to see An Ge here.
An Ge threw her a cold glance before replying, "Mrs. Huo invited me and my daughter as guests. Is there a problem?"
Fu Rou’s breathing grew heavier, and she said, clearly angered,
"The old lady said she had found Huaisang’s biological mother. Tonight’s family dinner is for their reunion. Why are you here, causing trouble?"
An Ge looked at her with a faint smile and replied, "Well, maybe I am the biological mother of Young Master Huo."
Fu Rou’s eyes widened in disbelief. Losing control of her emotions, she snapped,
"An Ge! Stop spreading your nonsense! How could you be Huaisang’s biological mother? Didn’t Shaoyan perform a paternity test multiple times on you and Huaisang, proving you share no blood relation?"
An Ge interrupted her smugly, "Then why are you so agitated? I’m merely here because Mrs. Huo invited me for dinner with my child. Is there a need to lose your temper?"
Fu Rou sneered. "I think you have ulterior motives..."
