Chapter 304: Chapter 304: Temptation

He had spent six years behind bars and hadn’t seen a woman in a long time... let alone a body this breathtakingly bare.

The last time his rationality had been so close to collapse was six years ago, during that drunken night with Bai Ning.

Huo Tingxiao realized he had witnessed something he shouldn’t have. He quickly averted his gaze and turned his back before An Muxin could scream, offering an apologetic remark:

"I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to."

He turned around, his posture tall and strong, especially the physique beneath his shirt. Even through the fabric, it was clear how firm his muscles were.

An Muxin’s gaze followed the man’s upright back and landed on his close-cropped hair, and she instantly guessed his identity.

She hadn’t expected to meet the Third Young Master of the Huo Family in this way.

A mix of shame and a strange thrill stirred within her.

An Muxin had experienced the pleasures between men and women, so when faced with a man whose physique looked powerful and whose status overshadowed Gu Changfeng’s, she couldn’t help but let dirty thoughts arise deep inside her.

If Huo Shaoyan truly remained coldhearted and indifferent to her love and affection, she was determined to seduce the man before her.

With that in mind, An Muxin deliberately chose a thin, sheer white dress to put on.

After putting it on, she furiously and aggrievedly questioned Huo Tingxiao, who still had his back turned to her, "Who are you? Do you even know who I am?"

Thinking she was dressed, Huo Tingxiao turned back around.

To his shock, this woman might as well have not been wearing anything at all.

Though Huo Tingxiao had a remarkably calm demeanor, he was still a perfectly normal man. And he hadn’t been with a woman in years.

Naturally, then... he reacted physically.

To avoid any unnecessary trouble, Huo Tingxiao strode away, leaving An Muxin with these words:

"I’m Huo Shaoyan’s uncle, Huo Tingxiao. I’m here to see him, and I didn’t mean to offend you. My apologies..."

With that, he stepped out decisively.

An Muxin, sharp-eyed, noticed his reaction and smiled smugly.

Just as Huo Tingxiao walked out, Cui Zhu came in.

On her way upstairs, Cui Zhu had seen Huo Tingxiao.

So when she entered and saw An Muxin, she said to her:

"I just saw Third Young Master Huo, Huo Tingxiao. He looked... flushed and a bit off!"

Now fully dressed, An Muxin curled her lips and replied to Cui Zhu:

"A convict who’s been celibate for five or six years seeing a body like mine —a top-tier beauty— how could he act normal?"

The words stunned Cui Zhu entirely.

She asked incredulously, "Miss, you... wouldn’t actually consider making Third Young Master Huo your backup plan, would you?"

An Muxin responded, "Why wouldn’t I? If Huo Shaoyan betrays me, I won’t let him off. If I marry his uncle, I’ll outrank him generationally; it’ll kill him with frustration!"

Complex emotions swirled in Cui Zhu’s gaze as she looked at An Muxin, saying:

"Miss, for a woman to have entanglements with both nephew and uncle... that kind of thing... even Young Master wouldn’t allow it, let alone the Family Head— slap—"

Cui Zhu didn’t even finish her sentence before An Muxin slapped her across the face.

An Muxin snapped at her, "You dog! Whose servant are you supposed to be? Aren’t you supposed to stand by me?"

Cui Zhu didn’t dare to say another word. Bowing her head, she respectfully handed the jade pendant she had brought to An Muxin, saying:

"Miss, here’s the jade pendant you asked for."

An Muxin took the jade pendant from Cui Zhu’s hand.

After a cursory glance, she confirmed that the pendant indeed belonged to Qin Xiaoqi.

This pendant was sculpted personally by Qin Huaisheng from raw jade as a gift for Qin Xiaoqi’s tenth birthday back then.

An Muxin recalled that Qin Huaisheng had made an entire set that year—not just a pendant, but also bracelets, earrings, and even a dragon-and-phoenix-themed headpiece.

However, after the Qin family massacre, all of those items had disappeared.

Now seeing this pendant, An Muxin grew increasingly convinced that An Ge might actually be the long-lost Qin Xiaoqi.

As for the fact that An Ge didn’t physically resemble Qin Xiaoqi—perhaps it was due to plastic surgery?

In any case, this pendant strengthened An Muxin’s resolve to destroy An Ge.

With that thought, she instructed Cui Zhu:

"Go immediately to the entrance of the Huo Mansion. When An Ge arrives, report back to me right away."

"Yes."

Afterward, An Muxin dialed Huo Shaoyan. "Brother Yan, where are you right now?"

Huo Shaoyan was standing by a man-made lake, smoking a half-burned cigarette.

He answered impatiently, "What do you want?"

An Muxin replied, "Mrs. Huo just sent someone to invite me to dinner."

She paused a moment before adding,

"She mentioned that tonight she’ll be hosting an important guest, who happens to be... Huaisang’s biological mother. Apparently, she’s arriving soon... Do you want to come with me?"

Upon hearing this, Huo Shaoyan extinguished his cigarette and replied coldly, "I’ll come find you later."

An Muxin curled her lips into a smirk and said:

"Alright. I’ll wait for you." She paused momentarily before adding, "Oh, by the way... your uncle was just here looking for you. When he didn’t find you, he left."

Huo Shaoyan replied, "Got it."

After hanging up the call, Huo Shaoyan prepared to return to the East Garden to see An Muxin.

Just as he turned around, he encountered Huo Tingxiao, who was coming his way.

Huo Shaoyan furrowed his dark brows slightly and said indifferently, "An Muxin mentioned you were looking for me. What is it?"

Huo Tingxiao replied, "Your grandmother said she has something important to announce tonight and sent me to inform you."

Huo Shaoyan: "Is that so?"

On his way over, Huo Tingxiao had asked a servant about the women in Huo Shaoyan’s life.

The woman he had seen changing clothes in the walk-in closet wasn’t Huo Shaoyan’s most cherished lover.

So he asked Huo Shaoyan out of curiosity:

"I heard the woman who has you entirely captivated is named An Ge. You recently remarried her?"

Although Huo Shaoyan had successfully remarried An Ge, An Muxin’s interference had heightened the tension between him and An Ge, and they were now on the brink of divorce again.

Thus, Huo Tingxiao’s words were like knives digging into Huo Shaoyan’s heart, souring his mood deeply.

Huo Shaoyan’s demeanor turned instantly cold: "What does that have to do with you?"

Huo Tingxiao smirked. "Did I hit a nerve? Why so hostile? What’s the matter—just remarried and already heading for another divorce?"

Huo Shaoyan clenched his fists, looking as if he were ready to fight Huo Tingxiao.

But Huo Tingxiao had no intention of fighting him.

Seeing this, Huo Tingxiao backed off slightly, saying:

"Your grandmother dropped a hint. She said she invited An Ge and her daughter to tonight’s family banquet. I’m just wondering— isn’t the old lady afraid An Ge, the official wife, will end up clashing with An Muxin, the mistress?

Especially since I’ve heard... that little Minx An Muxin is already carrying your child. If they really start fighting, which side should I take?"

With those words, Huo Shaoyan’s emotions surged instantly.

He raised his voice sharply, "What did you say? The old lady invited An Ge too?"

Huo Tingxiao replied, "Why not? Can’t she invite An Ge?"

Huo Shaoyan’s throat tightened as he ignored Huo Tingxiao entirely.

The old lady had personally told him she had found Huaisang’s biological mother, and tonight’s family banquet was specifically arranged for her.

However, after investigating earlier, he had found that the old lady hadn’t invited anyone to the family banquet.

But if Huo Tingxiao’s words were true, and the old lady had indeed invited An Ge...

Could this mean that An Ge was Huaisang’s biological mother?

But he had previously conducted a blood test comparing An Ge and Huaisang; the results had clearly shown that they were not biologically related.

Then... what was going on?

Huo Shaoyan felt his head throbbing painfully.

Quickening his steps, he headed toward the East Garden.

While walking, he dialed An Ge’s number.

At that moment, An Ge was about to arrive at the Huo Mansion.

Seeing Huo Shaoyan’s call, she hesitated for a few seconds before picking it up.

Her voice was soft and gentle, "Hello?"

Huo Shaoyan swallowed a few times before slowly asking, "Where... are you?"

An Ge paused briefly, avoiding a direct answer: "Is there something you need?"

Huo Shaoyan felt a rush of heated frustration coursing through his chest, an anger he found difficult to suppress.

He took a deep breath, his anger slowly simmering down, and spoke as calmly as he could:

"Did the old lady invite you to tonight’s family banquet at the Huo Mansion?"
