Dimensional Tycoon: I Make Trillions in Every World -
Chapter 81: Lie
Chapter 81: Lie
Even though the question was asked, Umbu didn’t stop.
He was far too greedy.
...And hungry.
So the first plate was emptied before someone could answer or greet Evan, causing the man to speak again.
"My head! Is it because I drank too much? Now I am hallucinating?"
Evan thought the scene before him was a product of his imagination. Why wouldn’t he, when a literal dragon sat at his table and devoured steaks clean?
Though it was a small one.
However, that factor may have confused him even more.
Noa and Mia, meanwhile, exchanged glances, deciding to play dumb and let the man believe the dragon didn’t exist.
The latter moved swiftly.
He caught Umbu and hid him under his hoodie.
Mia, on the other hand, stood up, pointing at Evan with an angry expression. "Dad, why didn’t you tell me you were going out? Where is your phone?"
Evan blinked.
His vision was blurry, but he still forced his gaze to stay on Noa, trying to make out what he was hiding.
Then his attention shifted.
He saw Mia and registered her question.
Patting his pants down in search of the phone, he found it in his pocket, but the battery was completely dead.
"Sorry," he said softly, hiccuping.
The girl sighed, shaking her head. "Never do that again," she warned in a serious tone, narrowing her eyes.
Evan gulped this time, nodding as he promised.
"It won’t happen again."
Mia’s face softened, looking content with how the situation turned out.
Yun Qiqi didn’t like what was happening. "Why are you hiding him?" she questioned Noa, glaring at him. "He is hungry."
Noa put his hand on her mouth, silencing her.
But the girl wasn’t someone who would easily give up, biting his hand.
"Ouch," he exclaimed. "That hurt. Why did you do that?"
He also looked at his hand, with bite marks still imprinted on it, and whispered to explain the situation to her.
"We are hiding Umbu from my dad. He doesn’t know that dragons exist, and we can’t just explain to him everything that’s happening."
In the meantime, Mia had led Evan to his bedroom, allowing him to catch up on his sleep.
"Why?" Yun Qiqi asked again.
She couldn’t understand why they would hide important things from their dad.
"Do you guys hate him?"
"No," Noa shook his head immediately. "It’s just hard to explain, and we don’t want him to worry about us."
The little girl went quiet for a second.
She also gestured for Noa to release the little rascal.
Umbu wanted nothing more than to escape his hoodie, play, and eat some more.
And when his wish was fulfilled, he began running around the room with Qiqi, displaying childlike happiness.
"I still don’t think this is right," Yun Qiqi said when the two sat down at the table.
This was a topic Noa had thought about for quite some time.
Honestly, he agreed with the little girl. He always hated it when protagonists from the popular series hid everything from their loved ones, convincing themselves that it was for the greater good.
He, too, wanted to talk with Evan and share his experience.
After talking with Mia, he knew she shared his opinion as well.
But they recognized that explaining everything with a dragon by their side would make things more difficult.
So they put it on hold.
At least for now.
"We will talk to him. I promise," he said to Yun Qiqi, patting her head.
The girl puffed her chest proudly.
She displayed a smug grin as well, feeling as if she had persuaded Noa to do something she believed to be right.
Mia smirked as well.
She watched as the dragon ate the steaks like it was nothing, his belly expanding with each gulp.
’I doubt he will be satisfied with all that,’ Noa thought.
Umbu needed mana and qi to survive, and food couldn’t cut it.
Especially with his permanently hungry state, which worked like a flaw he couldn’t shake—unless he consumed a small planet.
Noa had no means of meeting this condition.
So he constantly had to provide enough energy and ensure that the little dragon wouldn’t starve.
Soon, his guess proved right.
When Umbu finished the entire meal and almost ate Noa’s share as well, he still looked for more.
’Meat is good. I love meat,’ Noa thought meanwhile.
He felt like he was in heaven, his mouth showered with an amazing mix of flavors he had missed. "Thank you," he said to his sister and stood up.
"What is our next plan?" Mia asked.
She was even willing to ditch school, and hoping that Noa would take her to Ligma again, she said,
"We can’t really hang out with Dad right now. He is too smashed for that."
Noa agreed.
He had to change his plans.
But taking Mia with him when she had a lot to do wasn’t part of his goals.
So he spent the next two minutes convincing her to stay, using Yun Qiqi as a secret weapon, who also took his side and agreed that education was important.
Listening to the little girl, Noa was reminded of something.
’Maybe she should enroll somewhere,’ he thought, considering both worlds as an option.
However, he put it at the back of his head and left the house.
Mia, pouting and disappointed, stayed behind, getting ready for school.
Noa and Yun Qiqi walked through the park. The air was cool, but the street was still half-asleep—barely anyone or anything moved around them.
Then they stepped inside the portal.
Light folded.
It made a soft pulse and brought every familiar sensation.
On the other side, he was greeted by the great hall, giving ambient vibes to match his current mood.
Just ahead, he reached the storeroom and found Xue Hanly and Qing Xuan already working. Clean counters, stocked shelves, and the first customer of the day also improved his mood.
It was a tall woman with sharp eyes.
She was browsing near the front, two guards walking behind her.
Whoever she was, she exuded a calm and confident aura, proving she was someone of great importance in the city.
