Chapter 79: Dragon

The initial yelp quickly grew into a loud cheer.

"Dragon? How is it here? Why is it so fat?" Mia asked in surprise, standing up.

She was just as excited upon seeing the dragon.

It was a mystical creature for a reason, but no matter from what angle she observed it, the dragon seemed far too cute compared to the terrifying beasts she was used to seeing in fiction.

"It is a boy," Noa corrected.

He felt a bond with this dragon—one he couldn’t just explain with words.

Mia noticed his serious expression and coughed.

She studied the little creature again.

He had big round eyes and a smiley face that looked quite ridiculous for the beast of its station.

Instead of a strong jaw and sharp eyes, the dragon looked too soft, and those red, toothless gums didn’t help either.

The most concerning yet funny thing was the big belly.

Every time Mia looked at it, she couldn’t help but chuckle loudly, her eyes watering each time.

Seeing this, Noa shook his head.

"Don’t body shame him. He just loves devouring energy."

But he was grinning as well.

The dragon looked straight out of a cartoon and seemed like a creature that could never harm anyone.

"Baa-baa! Bahhh!"

He continued making strange noises, nearing Mia for a hug.

The girl didn’t move.

She waited for the baby dragon to show his love, but instead of embracing Mia, he suddenly changed his mind and leaped at Noa.

"Come here, you little rascal," Noa said, looking at Mia’s disappointed expression.

He then summoned the system interface.

"This guy!" Noa muttered.

Mia squinted her eyes, listening.

"Either he will be my biggest problem or... never mind. I think he will be my biggest headache," he continued, rubbing the lazy dragon’s belly again.

"What do you mean?" Mia questioned, reaching with her hand.

"He is a primordial dragon, and his ancestors created mana," he explained, feeling the softness of a short tail.

Mia, meanwhile, was smacked by the dragon.

The creature hit her with his cute paw, denying her every attempt to touch him.

But she had time to exclaim as well.

"Wait, what? Then why does he look like a bum who only eats pizza every day?" she said, not convinced that this harmless beast could actually have such an amazing bloodline.

Noa smiled under his breath.

"That’s not all," he said, lifting the little fellow to the sky.

"Chii-chii-chii!"

The dragon was lighter than it should have been, especially considering its round belly.

"Not only does he have high mana aptitude, but he can also start cultivation at any moment. Qi already flows within his body, and he can draw more from the world around him," Noa added, looking conflicted.

Only because he didn’t know what to do with it.

There were no instruction manuals on how to train or even use dragons.

Six major tasks existed that the spirit beasts could do for the cultivators.

The first one was combat.

It was the most common usage as they can fight alongside martial practitioners, use elemental attacks, and even protect them.

The second was mobility.

Some of the beasts could be served as mounts, allowing cultivators to cover long distances.

The next one could be named cultivation assistance.

Spirit animals could share qi with their masters, allowing quicker and smoother breakthroughs. They could also regulate unstable qi.

It was crucial to save cultivators from internal threats.

The fourth task they could complete was more utility-like, such as resource fields, alchemy, and blacksmithing.

As for the last remaining, they came down to the emotional support and special passive abilities.

Considering everything he knew about contracted monsters, Noa thought deeply. He wanted to find which category the dragon could belong to.

It wasn’t limited to only one, but he needed to know more.

Normally, it should have been easier to sort spirit beasts into their groups.

"...You don’t seem like someone who can be used as a backup in a fight," Noa said, poking the creature.

It purred, looking at Noa with a mischievous smile.

He didn’t know what it would become and what the future had in store.

However, he knew one thing.

This dragon wasn’t a weapon—no matter what kind of strength and power it could reach.

’Perhaps I can send him to find qi-rich resources and treasures this world has to offer. He can be my scout and sense ancient veins.’

Noa was thinking to himself when the bed behind him shook.

Someone who was still lying there stirred, yawned, and stretched, then opened her eyes to see something she hadn’t expected.

"What’s that?" she asked, her eyes widening with interest.

Yun Qiqi didn’t even waste a second.

Her mind shook awake as soon as she saw something that raced her tiny heart.

"You don’t know what it is?" Noa asked, his brows lowering.

The little girl shook her head.

"Is it a creature from this world? The panda you showed in the game looked different. I thought they were the cutest animals from here!"

Seeing how Mia and Noa exchanged glances, the little girl pouted.

"What is it actually, panda? Don’t make fun of me! I am still new here," she said, her cheeks turning red from childish anger.

The siblings laughed out loud this time.

Yun Qiqi was far too adorable not to tease her, especially when she misunderstood their gazes.

"It’s not a panda," Noa decided to explain finally. But only after he had his good time watching the girl’s offended expression. "This is a dragon, and we need to come up with his name."

"Name?" Yun Qiqi repeated, suddenly turning serious.
