Chapter 78: Baa-baa! Bahhh!

"Perhaps he is gone to drink with his mates," Mia said softly, trying not to lose her cool over something so trivial.

"I am going to call him," she added, reaching for her phone.

"Is that TV?" Yun Qiqi asked upon seeing this unfamiliar device, guessing its use by linking it to the big screen Evan had shown her before. "But why is it so small?"

"Something like that," Noa said, sitting on the sofa. "But it’s called a phone and has many more functions."

He wasn’t concerned about his Dad.

Not because he didn’t love him and didn’t care about his whereabouts—but because he had no reason to worry.

He was an adult, and it was natural for him to leave the house.

Even in the middle of the night.

Yet he wasn’t answering Mia’s calls, causing the girl to sigh in uncertainty.

Noa saw her reaction and said, trying to ease her worry, "He is gonna be okay. Just like you said, he might be drinking with his friends. I think Eagles won yesterday, and he is celebrating."

Mia lowered her brows.

It made sense.

As a middle-aged man, Evan loved watching football and drinking with his buddies.

But every time he did so, he always made sure to give Mia a heads-up.

"Maybe he didn’t because he knows Brother Noa is with you. He is probably sure that both of you are protecting each other," Yun Qiqi said, offering her guess as well. "And he also knows that I am with you. I bet that’s why he is so laid back."

Mia chuckled at her words, her expression softening.

Even though the girls were exhausted, the travel between dimensions was enough to give them enough energy to push through a couple more hours.

So, along with Noa, they decided to have some fun.

It contained some video games, music, pizza, cola, and anime movies.

Yun Qiqi enjoyed each and every one of them, especially the pizza and cola combo, as it caused her eyes to water.

She even lost her ability to speak for a moment.

After she ate the entire piece by herself, Noa had to call for another one.

This time he ensured to order the biggest one.

Next came video games, of which the little girl liked a couple of them, enjoying a moment of peace with her new family.

It continued for a long time until she fell asleep on Noa’s lap.

"She is so bright," Mia said, gesturing to Noa that he should let her sleep in bed with her. "She can charm the room instantly."

Noa shared her opinion.

"I am glad you two get along," he said and laid the little girl on the bed.

Qiqi turned around and pulled the blanket over her tiny frame, hiding in its warmth.

As for the remaining siblings, they spent the next two hours conversing about some random topics, including Ligma and cultivation.

But they also fell asleep in the room, leaning on each other’s shoulders.

The morning was quick to arrive.

First came the light, tickling Noa’s eyes with a full intention of waking him up.

The curtains and his will to fight against the sun’s nature were too weak—his mind woke suddenly.

However, Noa still kept his eyes shut.

He wanted a couple more minutes of this peace to continue, while also allowing his body to relax.

But just then, something unexpected happened.

"Rrrrrh-hic!"

Noa heard a sound.

At first, he thought either Mia or Yun Qiqi was having hiccups.

"Rrrrrh-hic!"

But after hearing it a second time, doubt crept into his heart, causing his breath to quicken.

And just before he snapped his eyes wide open—

"Baa-baa! Bahhh!"

Another noise was heard.

It didn’t sound like something a human would make.

It was more of a repeated bleat—like a whiny argument that tried to gain his attention.

This time, Noa’s vision was fully back.

Something was moving near his legs.

"Ra-ra! Raaa!" that something was making noises this entire time.

Noa blinked.

’Am I still asleep?’ he questioned, slowly raising his head to see what was going on right before him.

He saw it again.

A tiny black dragon, standing over the bedsheet.

It was smaller than a loaf of bread, its slick and cute wings flapping in front of him, as if trying to say something.

The tail?

It swung around aimlessly.

The little creature had no idea what to do with it.

There was something far more noticeable about him than anything else.

Of course, it was his round, soft belly that looked bigger than the rest of his body combined.

It even jiggled slightly.

All around the dragon were scattered eggshells.

They pulsed slightly, still warm.

He tilted his head in Noa’s direction, his eyes shining with enormous wonder, before chirping again.

"Ra-ra! Raaa!"

Noa stared at the scene with a mix of emotions.

"What are you doing here?"

The dragon shrugged, as if he didn’t have the answer to the question.

Then it flopped forward, nearing Noa.

"...You hatched on Earth? In my house? In Mia’s room?"

The creature nodded.

He was adorable, there was no doubt about that, but everything he did increased his cuteness.

Especially when he lifted his paw, showing it to Noa.

The paw looked tough.

"I knew you were going to be some kind of menace the way you were devouring mana and qi, but this... this is beyond what I was expecting."

Dragons were mythical creatures.

Some legends even said that they were the foundation of mana.

And even though Noa was already living a mystical life himself, he could only dream of owning a dragon.

But now this foreign wish had been fulfilled.

Noa extended his hand to poke the dragon’s comically large belly.

It was soft to the touch.

Though its scales looked sharp and solid, it still looked cute.

"Hrrrmrrrp..."

He was grumbling in satisfaction, asking Noa to continue the massage.

And just before Noa summoned the system interface, someone behind him woke up, yelping in surprise.

"Dragon!"
