Chapter 56: Art of Bullshitting

The screen Noa touched lit up immediately.

It vibrated for a moment before disappearing completely, leaving Noa alone in his bed.

There was no visible change in the store, either.

Nothing really happened to it, except the pressure the store exuded expanded for a minute.

It quickly went back to how it had been before. However, to be certain, Noa summoned the system interface and read through the description once more.

{Cross-World Permit [Empire Grade]}

Description: A permit that created a remote access point across multiple cities within the Black Flame Empire. Although the physical location remains unchanged, individuals may encounter a temporary entrance point randomly.

’Everything is going well,’ Noa thought, allowing his eyes to close and his world to slide into calmness.

Yet the peace was short-lived.

A soft knock that quickly turned into a loud knock jolted him awake.

It felt like he had slept for only seconds.

He groaned first, rubbing his eyes before forcing his still-asleep body to move.

Before he reached the door, the knock came again. Noa then opened the door and saw Yun Qiqi poking her head inside, her face carrying a sense of urgency.

"What is it?" Noa asked, noticing that a couple of hours had passed already.

"You need to come to the store quickly," she said, her voice hurried and soft at the same time. "The girls wanted to see you. I think it’s something important."

Noa sighed.

His eyebrows twitched even without his control.

"Did they miss me or something?"

The little girl rolled her eyes, pointing a finger at him with disdain.

"No! It’s not that! Just come out and talk to them."

Yun Qiqi looked as adorable as always, making it difficult for Noa to take her scolding seriously.

But feeling his unwashed hair, Noa said in a low tone,

"Give me five minutes."

The girl had already started moving through the hallway, and hearing his words, she shook her head. "Hurry!"

He nodded and went inside the bathroom to take a quick shower.

Exactly 5 minutes and 41 seconds later, he arrived in the store, clean, refreshed, and ready for the day’s work.

"What’s up?" he said casually, glancing at his two employees.

His initial thought was that the sect leader of the Blooming Iron Sect had visited.

But, contrary to his expectation, the man Hue Xanly was speaking to was someone Noa had never seen before.

To answer his question, Qing Xuan greeted him first by bowing.

Only then did she whisper, explaining the situation.

"We don’t know who this man is, but he wanted to see the manager. The only product he tried was this new item, and he has been waiting for you ever since."

The aloof beauty explained swiftly, letting Noa understand the situation at hand.

He, however, nodded calmly and glanced at the stranger.

The man was short, but lean, and his worn robes had layers of dust from the long travels. What caught Noa’s attention most was the man’s presence.

It felt out of place, yet his tanned skin proved that he had come from a distant land.

Meanwhile, Hue Xanly peeked nervously at Noa.

It was plain to see that she had no idea how to handle this stranger.

However, the man noticed her shifting gaze and followed it, spotting Noa instantly.

A quick understanding lit up his face.

So he moved in Noa’s direction, his steps steady, yet calculated.

There was a mix of emotions he showed on his face.

Curiosity was the first one.

It was followed by wariness, and to Noa’s surprise, fear.

’This is going to be an interesting one,’ he said internally, stepping forward to meet the man.

"My name is Su Laoxin," the stranger started, observing Noa with interest. "Can you explain what this place is? I was minding my business when I stumbled upon this store."

Noa nodded at his words.

"I am glad you started by introducing your name," he said, but didn’t offer his own.

Su Laoxin narrowed his eyes, not knowing how to respond.

"Is this space even real? You didn’t kidnap me for experiments or to sacrifice to some ancient demon, did you?"

Still, he asked, his voice shaking.

He was convinced that whatever had happened to him would have dire consequences.

’Why is everyone obsessed with letting their imagination run wild in this world?’ Noa questioned in his head, as a mischievous grin appeared on his face.

"You are overreacting. I believe you have tried our latest product? What is your opinion about that?" he said indifferently, observing the man’s reaction.

"That..." Su Laoxin trailed his words.

Silence stretched.

The air shifted for a heartbeat before he added,

"That product... this place... neither of them feels real."

Noa let the silence stretch even longer—just enough for the uneasiness to reach its peak.

He then offered a smile.

It was a ridiculous smile—one that will never comfort anyone.

"The rules you know only exist because people you know chose to follow them," he said finally, meaning hidden behind his every word. "And for you to find this place wasn’t an accident either."

Su Laoxin didn’t gasp.

But his eyes widened as he was clearly surprised.

They asked a question in his stead, and Noa read him like a book.

"Opportunity only arises when someone wills it into existence, and seeing that you stumbled upon a door that most people can’t even see tells us all we need to know."

Of course, it was bullshit.

If the system were present, it would definitely joke around and say that his art of bullshitting had improved.

As for Noa, he did it because he could.

It also left open interpretation for the man to make, and knowing the nature of this world, Noa was highly confident in how things would play out.

Su Laoxin swallowed, nodding his head.

"I-Is this some kind of trial?"

He was confused, unable to fully decipher what the entity before him was trying to say. But it added depth to Noa’s character and elevated his status.

So he looked at the man with an unreadable expression and said, his voice hanging in the room,

"Maybe. But..." Noa paused, letting the temperature drop even further.
