Chapter 57: Every Monday at 3 o’clock
"Maybe. But..." Noa paused, letting the temperature drop even further.
Only after noticing the man’s forehead covered in a cold sweat did he continue his speech.
"But I would say that you got lucky to be chosen."
Su Laoxin’s hands trembled.
"Chosen? By whom?" he asked. His tone grew cautious before he even knew it.
"I don’t question when gods kneel for my favor," Noa answered, his eyes remaining cold this entire time. "And if you were brought here, it means that something greater than you wanted you here."
Noa let the words hang.
It was a foundation he was forming.
Though it was built with suggestions and his weird way of speaking, it was enough.
The short man looked at Noa, his eyes refusing to blink.
However, there was something different about him—the way he carried himself and observed Noa had changed.
It seemed more reserved.
As if fear of someone who was a greater existence than him gripped his heart.
Even his hands remained on his back.
Not because he wanted to draw a weapon, but to steady his quickened breathing.
Then, without saying a single word, Noa moved towards the shelf, ignored the girls around him, and took something from the shelf.
"Take this and use it when you leave this place."
The man narrowed his eyes, staring at it and then back at Noa.
He reached his hand to take a packaged fidget spinner, expecting a qi-imbued artifact that would shift his perspective on life with a single touch.
That didn’t happen.
Not even close.
The toy was cold at most, not meeting his expectations.
However, Su didn’t dare show or even feel disappointed, and sensing there was more than met the eye, he simply nodded.
Noa stood still for a moment.
The calm air and constant silence aided his mysterious aura.
"Every Monday," he started, observing the man with a curious gaze, "at three o’clock, come to the same location, and I will offer you products like that."
Su Laoxin had opened the mystery box.
His snack was a rabbit-shaped beast with vanilla ice cream, and it heightened his perception by more than one stage.
As for the toy, it was also a rabbit with a key.
After using it, Su Laoxin’s snow affinity increased by severalfold.
So, for him to get such an amazing offer from Noa, his heart almost fell to the ground.
Wishing that the fidget spinner would be at least half as beneficial, he bowed deeply.
"Thank you," he said, not raising his head.
Noa, on the other hand, looked at the scene with amusement.
He remained quiet for a moment, letting the man show his submission before gesturing for him to straighten his back.
Su Laoxin obeyed immediately.
He was easily convinced, as everything he had experienced so far proved that his situation was beyond anything normal.
He also noted something in his heart.
It was a vow to himself to never forget the time of the appointment and always show up on time.
Turning the toy in his hand, he waited for Noa’s next instruction.
But the being before him seemed uninterested.
As if his very existence was a bother for him and he needed to scram before it was too late.
"I will leave for now," he said, glancing at everyone present in the room.
His first target was the little kid who couldn’t stop in one place for even a second.
Yun Qiqi moved around with a playful expression, as if searching for something to destroy.
The girls were slightly younger than he, but both of them looked so beautiful that Su Laoxin couldn’t help but steal silent glances at them.
He ended with Noa.
An entity who spoke and acted casually, as if even the world would obey his every command.
Su remembered Noa saying a thing about gods kneeling to him, and it sent shivers down his spine.
Gulping, he neared the door and left, hoping that one week would flash through quickly.
Noa, however, had observed his distant figure with a smile.
He was thinking about the appointment he had made, considering how it would shape his future and how he should use it in the most efficient way possible.
’I have read someone doing this before,’ he remembered a specific book. ’And I have always wanted to host such a meeting as well.’
As he was pondering what his hidden name should be, Noa felt someone tug at his pants.
"What’s up?" he asked, noticing Yun Qiqi’s eyes that were filled with expectations.
"Big Sister Mia," she said, her voice loud enough for the girls to hear. "I miss her. When is she going to come back?"
Noa sighed.
He could perfectly understand and even sympathize with what this little girl was going through.
He, too, wanted to spend more time with her.
But given the circumstances, he knew it wasn’t that easy.
Thankfully, it wasn’t like they had to wait for long, as the afternoon was already around the corner.
"Let’s wait a couple more hours, and we can bring her back. How does that sound?" he said, trying to cheer her up.
It worked.
Yun Qiqi beamed, and much to his surprise, she began dancing as well.
Meanwhile, Qing Xuan and Hue Xanly watched the scene with excitement, their eyes communicating in silence.
Processing the news wasn’t hard.
But they wanted to know more.
Considering who Noa was, his sister should have been just as divine, just as unfathomable.
They were preparing themselves to meet someone extraordinary when the entrance door creaked open, revealing a bald young man.
It was Chen Hao, and he looked somewhat stronger.
Even his surrendering aura had changed, giving him a completely new look.
Yet Chen Hao wasn’t alone.
Leader Wei Rou was with him, accompanied by other guild elders who came to finally seal the deal and begin migration with the Fateless Order.
’It’s starting,’ he muttered inwardly and grinned upon seeing them.
It was time for his influence to reach even greater heights.
