Chapter 41: Laugh

A sudden silence swept across the room.

Though the temperature remained constant, the air still trembled.

Noa didn’t look up from his plate. He continued eating as if nothing had happened.

But everyone else froze.

Except for Yun Qiqi, who never lost her cool.

With a heavy presence and dark blue robes, a tall, robust man stood at the entrance.

The man looked old.

His silver hair was neatly bound across his shoulders, as if it were a mountain carved from obsidian.

This was Sect Leader Wei Rou, known as the Iron Lotus, and his gaze scanned the room like a barely contained storm.

Elder Shanq stood at his side.

He had sharp eyes, and unlike the Sect Leader, his aura constantly shifted.

He was one of the rare people who was feared for his cunning, not for his strength.

And seeing the sect’s elite disciples seated around Noa’s table, eating rice like it was nothing, made him snort in disdain.

But—

After noticing Elder Jin, who was also seated beside Noa, Elder Shanq’s eyes narrowed.

Elder Jin had built up his reputation on cold discipline, and he was pride and strength for the Blooming Iron Sect.

But now, he looked like a tamed beast.

When Sect Leader Wei’s eyes met with his, Elder Jin didn’t bow. He simply returned the gaze, and though it still carried a trace of shame, he didn’t seem like someone burdened with regrets.

Elite strike force members also sat next to him.

They, too, looked changed.

Now, they definitely looked ashamed—fear and uncertainty evident in their shallow breaths.

And there was Noa.

He remained composed, not even acknowledging their presence.

Silence stretched for a long moment before Noa swallowed hard and took a sip of his protein shake, only to speak with a calm, almost casual voice.

"Sit. There is plenty to eat."

The silence stretched again.

Qing Xuan and Hue Xanly stiffened, not because of fear but for readiness.

Elder Shang’s lips curved into a faint smile, eyes narrowing in interest, not in rage.

Sect Leader Wei had the same reaction.

He didn’t sit.

But he did speak.

"You served my people rice—something we all lack in the city."

Noa set his bottle down.

"There is no need to thank me. They are already my people... and soon, you will be too."

The air grew tense.

A quiet returned for a moment.

No one spoke.

Everyone in this room could sense the sweet scent of rice mixed with the rich aroma from the veggies.

Leader Wei Rou didn’t show any reaction.

His face remained unreadable, but his eyes showed something.

It was a burning flame.

A curious and slightly angry gaze studied the room one more time before he sat down.

People gasped.

No one expected him to sit beside Noa.

This unforeseen situation escalated when he looked at the untouched rice, picked up the bowl, and started eating.

The sect would follow.

And sure enough, when Hue Xanly and Qing Xuan offered a plate to everyone present, they followed their leader’s lead.

One by one, the Blooming Iron Sect members ate in silence.

Their qi flowed faster than usual, circulating smoother than ever, while their muscles found peace from the old strains.

Even their thoughts turned sharper.

Clogged meridians restored.

And just like that, they felt the edge of breakthrough, which came with a stronger core.

One minute later, the unexpected happened.

Everyone who had tasted the rice managed to break through, and even the Sect Leader, usually stoic, closed his eyes.

A flicker of awe appeared on his face.

His stagnant energy was purified, and he felt lighter, stronger.

The sect members exchanged glances, and their previous skepticism was replaced by reverence for rice.

And maybe, unwillingly, for Noa as well.

"One hundred spirit coins," Noa said suddenly, disregarding their reactions altogether. "I am buying your entire sect at that price."

The elders froze.

The disciples stiffened.

All of their newfound strength was replaced by pure shock.

Even Elder Jin lowered his brows, not surprised by Noa’s straightforwardness.

Suddenly, as everyone was waiting for the situation to unfold, the door creaked open and a bald young man stepped in.

Chen Hao swallowed hard.

He guessed what was about to happen in the store and rushed right away.

Being part of Noa’s store was a big part of his pride.

"The moment when the jade moon sleeps, the boy with nothing but a heart full of dreams shall break the rules he once wanted to keep," he mumbled under his breath.

Chen Hao remembered the prophecy Noa had foretold before, excitement surging through his heart, and he moved with confidence.

Now he understood its meaning.

He was ready to break the rules, go against his sect, and stand proud with Noa.

And when all eyes landed on him, Chen Hao didn’t tremble, continued walking towards the counter to greet his real master.

"Evening," Noa noted his presence, shifting his attention toward the boy.

Chen Hao bowed low. "Good morning," he repeated politely, and he was about to scan the room when a familiar voice caught his attention.

"Junior Brother Hao?" Hue Xanly asked, surprised by his visit.

The boy’s ears pricked up.

He thought he had misheard for a moment, not expecting his crush to be here.

But when his eyes landed on her cold beauty, his heartbeat quickened more than ever before.

Still, he gulped and nodded slightly.

Then he glanced back at Noa and the Sect Leader, his voice higher than usual.

"Agree," the boy said to Iron Lotus. "It doesn’t matter what kind of offer you are working with. Agree immediately, even if it’s one coin, and consider this as my last kindness to the sect."

Chen Hao spoke confidently.

It didn’t feel like he was talking to someone beyond his station—someone he wouldn’t have dared look at directly just five days ago.

Everyone looked at him with surprise.

Including Noa and especially Hue Xanly, who blushed slightly.

’Kids,’ Noa thought, laughing to himself. ’Teenagers and their passion always amaze me.’

Meanwhile, the room went silent.

Noa’s proposal and Chen Hao’s words hung in the air like a challenge, and everyone wanted to know how the honorable Sect Leader would deal with it.

But suddenly, Leader Wei Rou’s face that commanded absolute attention this entire time changed.

And then—

He let out a rumbling laugh, unexpected and loud, before he finally spoke,
