Chapter 42: Sealing the Deal

He let out a rumbling laugh, unexpected and loud, before he finally spoke.

"Strength is the only real virtue in this world. My parents died because they were weak. My brothers were killed because they had no strength to protect themselves."

He spoke with a voice filled with both bitterness and devotion.

"For years, the sect clung to its tradition and scraps of power to grow stronger."

Hearing his words, the cultivators’ breathing halted.

Some gripped the edge of their robes tightly, while others darted their eyes in silence, fear and uneasiness creeping towards them.

They had all experienced what Noa’s rice could do.

They had also heard stories from the elite strike force members, who described everything about Noa as if he had been some kind of otherworldly immortal.

According to them, every product he had for sale went beyond human comprehension.

One of them whispered between her shallow breaths, "There is no way he will accept it... No, he can’t accept it."

Some of them were ready for a fight to break out.

Yet others stood tense, especially after considering Elder Jin’s sudden betrayal.

Meanwhile, the elder continued his speech.

"I can see," he said, pointing at Noa. "I know you aren’t offering us survival. This is something far beyond me, beyond the sect and perhaps the world even."

He paused for a moment.

His face looked resolved, silencing protests in his being, as if he had made up his mind long ago.

"For one coin," he declared, glancing at Chen Hao and grinning. "I will ensure that my people will thrive under your care so they won’t have to die weak."

The room immediately erupted into a quiet frenzy.

As soon as the sect leader’s words sank in, the murmurs started, his decision exploding like a shockwave.

"This... this can’t be happening. We are being sold just like this?" a young disciple whispered.

Others chimed in as well.

But no one dared to speak up—they all just swallowed words, not daring to argue against the leader.

Even the elders exchanged horrified glances.

They were the only ones who would dare to express their opinions, but Noa’s next words cut them off.

"Good," he said, chuckling. "It seems like I made the right choice. From this moment forth, the Blooming Iron Sect is no more. Now it’s part of the Fateless Order."

This sounded like the deal was already set.

Nothing could ever change it, and casually standing amid the bustling room, Noa studied the varied reactions.

Only Yun Qiqi remained unfazed.

She sat silently, giggling to herself.

Elder Jin looked just as tall as always, but his emotions were anything but calm.

Was this man truly an ancient demon, wearing a mask of friendliness? Honestly, he couldn’t tell, but either way, he was glad to be on his side.

The same thing happened with his employees.

Xue Hanly and Qing Xuan had long gotten used to Noa’s divinity.

However, this was something even they had a hard time believing, and for them, Noa seemed untouchable.

Among the disciples, fear spread like wildfire.

They searched for the answers, and the idea of the sect that they thought to be eternal crumbled in an instant.

They felt disappointment.

Of course they would—who would like to be sold like an animal?

The elders didn’t take the situation any better.

Elder Lian, for example, leaned heavily on her cane, and spoke anxiously.

"This isn’t a way to save the sect."

Her tone, full of emotion, still showed respect.

"This is a deal with calamity. Something that would doom us all."

Elder Shanq had questions of his own. He tried to find reasons for the sect leader’s actions, but even he had a hard time reading the situation.

Despite the protests he was listening to, Wei Rou didn’t waver.

His silent confidence worked in Noa’s favor, and wanting to play with fire, he said to the sect leader.

"I can see that there are still some disagreements. Though it’s understandable, I think it needs a correct way of handling it. You know what to do, am I right?"

Wei Rou had years of experience behind him.

Just because his people didn’t see what he was seeing, it didn’t mean he would lose his composure, change his mind, or punish them.

No.

He wasn’t that unreasonable.

However, there was a lot to be done.

So Noa raised his hand and dismissed the extra people from his store.

"Elder Wei," he started casually. "You can take leave for now and work on this internal struggle."

Noa then glanced at Chen Hao and said,

"He will be my spokesperson. I will send him to check up on you, but be ready for the merging event. Another man will also visit and show you the way to your new home."

Wei Rou nodded.

He looked at his sect disciples with a wry smile and guided them outside.

As for Noa, he observed their distant figures.

For a moment, he remained silent, then he glanced at the distance before finally asking the system.

"What’s your guess?"

[Exactly what you wanted,] the system said reluctantly. [He thinks that you are some kind of foreign entity he shouldn’t offend.]

"But that’s not all. He wouldn’t give up the fight before it even began just because he was scared."

Noa thought that there was something more.

And he had a hunch he knew what it was... at least a big part of it.

[It’s ambition. He heard what you can offer, and being stuck at the Spirit Severing stage, of course, he wanted to find more strength. Especially if it meant he would reach Immortal Ascension and hopefully, the True Immortal stage.]

The system confirmed his guess.

Everything worked out for him better than he expected.

People from this world were easily fooled—they constantly overthought everything and labeled him as something he could never be.

At least not now.

Not that Noa didn’t like that.

He was about to converse with the remaining people in the room when he heard a voice.

"The elder shall beg, his pride sold for a single coin. The sect might burn, for a trade too tempting to refuse... All of it will start with a single trade."

It was the prophecy he had just fulfilled, and in an instant, the system flooded his vision with messages.
