Chapter 40: Primordial Demon

Elder Jin was still drunk on his new sensations.

Especially when he was already accustomed to his new strength with no side effects whatsoever.

But hearing Noa’s words, he stiffened.

The lingering effect from the spinner hadn’t worn off, but hearing that the sect he had been part of his entire life was about to be sold like livestock stung his heart.

"You have the wrong impression of me and the Blooming Iron Sect," he replied, his voice wavering faintly.

"The sect isn’t mine to sell. It belongs to its people, its disciples, its tradition and to the generations before us. It’s not something that can be bought with money and toys."

The man continued.

Though it sounded like he was trying to convince himself as well.

"Toys?" Noa repeated, mocking. "You mean the artifact you just willingly paid a hundred spirit coins for and that helped you break through?"

Elder Jin clenched his fists.

Yet Noa still had more to say.

Gesturing lazily toward the shelves and sect members around him, he added, "Come on, elder. Why are you insulting your intelligence by calling gifts from a higher realm toys?"

Knowing that the elder was already within his grasp, a sly grin danced on his face.

The man paced around the room.

He didn’t know what to do.

"I... I can’t just give you the sect. It’s unreasonable and impossible."

Elder Jin’s shoulders slouched as he said that, doubt already creeping into his head. Noa’s words were painting a future no one could refuse, and trying to deny it would be a truly foolish move.

Then—

He exhaled as if strength were leaving his body.

"What do you propose?"

Noa smirked triumphantly.

’It is my perfect victory,’ he thought, his eyes turning into something calculating.

"We can start small," he offered. "You and your people will join my sect, and at the same time, you will tell every elder and student to come here and negotiate with me."

Noa took a short pause.

He studied the reaction and continued.

"You will keep your position, title, and all the benefits, along with products from my store. Even the new ones I will be adding in the future. But..."

Suddenly, his voice trailed off.

"But I want them here in twenty minutes."

He then smiled mischievously before ending his conditions.

"And I am offering a hundred True Spirit Coins for the sect. Yes, it’s the same coins you just gave me. It’s quite ironic, isn’t it?"

The elder swallowed hard.

It was at this moment that he realized he wasn’t standing in front of a human.

No human being could be this cunning, this powerful, while also wielding a heaven-defying artifacts capable of reshaping the course of the world.

He had to be a Primordial Demon.

There was no other explanation other than him being a demonic entity who ruled realms beyond human comprehension.

Even the deal he offered sounded like something only the Primordial Demon would offer.

The sheer audacity of Noa’s presence felt terrifying.

...Almost otherworldly.

Uncertainty and fear kept Elder Jin silent, but the weight had already started living in his head.

He nodded at Noa’s proposition.

Then he gestured to his henchmen to leave and bring the sect master at once.

Meanwhile, Noa looked at his customers.

They all had anxious faces.

So he dismissed them by raising his hand softly. "The show is over," he announced. "Come back tomorrow if you want more rice... As you can see, I am in the middle of negotiations."

People murmured.

It wasn’t a protest but a curious exchange of ideas.

One by one, they left the store, glancing back at Noa, his employees, and members of the Blooming Iron Sect.

In two minutes, the store looked empty.

Though more than 20 people still stood inside.

Noa had one question regarding the spectators he had had this entire time.

"Are they going to speak about the store?" he asked the system. "I mean, will they promote me for free and say that Heavenly Treasures Store is owned by the coolest guy ever?"

The system was eager to disappoint him.

[Of course not,] it spoke like it was a good thing. [Karma would never allow that.]

"Why?" Noa questioned.

It didn’t make any sense. It wasn’t like it would put the store in danger, and why and how would it even affect people when there was no need?

[That’s part of the unwritten principles. Karma decides on its own the extent to which it should influence others. Which means it still believes you aren’t ready to handle the entire city flooding your store over an extended period.]

’Stupid principles,’ Noa declared.

His wish to buy off Karma, or worse, to own it like a dog, only grew stronger.

But understanding that there was nothing to do except to grow his business slowly, he exhaled.

’At least I am about to fulfill the prophecy,’ he remembered.

Glancing at the Eye of the Future, a glint of excitement flashed across his face.

Then he shifted his attention back to the people before him.

"Do you want to eat?" he asked.

Only the girls nodded in agreement—the strike force and Elder Jin remained too stiff for his liking.

"Sit down with us," he said. "I know you need rice, and somehow even I got a craving for it."

Yun Qiqi was the first one to take a seat.

She sat next to Noa as they both started dining behind the counter.

Hue Xanly and Qing Xuan followed their lead, filling their almost empty stomachs.

Seeing this, Elder Jin and his people moved as well.

They sat awkwardly at first.

But each bite they took steadied their nerves, allowing them to eat in peace.

Soon, a hum of energy filled the air.

Everyone felt its effect as they started cultivating without even realizing it.

Except Noa and a little girl beside him.

They both seemed to be eating with a satisfied smile, yet the rice had no effect on them whatsoever.

While others basked in the potent qi and its strong flow, Noa and Yun Qiqi remained still, as their untraceable qi seemed to be untouched.

Not a single trace of energy moved towards them.

The cultivators exchanged glances.

Now, the idea of Noa being a Primordial Demon looked even more feasible.

Yet it turned out that he wasn’t the only one—the little girl looked just as terrifying.

Just then—

The entrance door swung open, and the old sect leader walked in, followed by hundreds of disciples.
