Chapter 39: Tasting and Spinning

"Of course you can," Noa answered, grinning. "Which one caught your fancy?"

The young disciple thought for a minute.

Eating rice seemed like the most obvious choice, but he wanted to try something else—something that only this store could offer.

"What’s this?" he asked, pointing at the shelf where protein shakes were neatly arranged.

Instead of answering, Noa glanced at his employee.

Hue Xanly was caught completely off guard, as all eyes turned to her, her shoulders trembling in surprise.

Still, she quickly regained her composure, and, clearing her throat, she began.

"It’s... uh, an elixir. A divine one at that, and it is infused with something that will strengthen your body."

"So I have to just drink it? Does it have any side effects?" the sect member asked.

It was the question everyone in the room was curious about.

Including, but not limited to, his fellow disciples and even an elder who also watched the scene with interest.

Funnily enough, the customers who were brave enough to stay this long also listened attentively.

Of course, they wanted to know the secrets this store was hiding.

Especially after seeing what had happened to the famous Blooming Iron Sect’s powerful elder and its strike force.

"No!" Hue Xanly denied it right away. "I mean, yes, it has an addictive taste, and its freshness? Unmatched."

Hearing this, the young man smiled, asking for a drink.

"Can I try it?"

"Sure," the girl spoke before Noa. "It’s four spirit coins per bottle."

The sect member narrowed his eyes, but reached for his pouch before taking out four True Spirit Coins and putting them on the counter.

Expectation and fear lingered on his face.

The same emotions were evident on the faces of the other sect members as well.

Above all, they were confused by his choice and questioned his decision not only to fold this easily, but also to refuse the rice.

At first, his expression was stiff.

But when he gulped the first sip, and his strong energy spread through his body, his bearing changed.

Pulsing with newfound vigor, his meridians glowed.

Whispers flowed through the crowd.

Staring in awe, his sect members didn’t move, while Elder Jin’s brows furrowed.

Customers also murmured among themselves.

"He is going to break through."

"But how? It’s not like the cabbages we see daily. So how come people are doing it so easily?"

Other bystanders shrugged.

The idea of trying the same products surfaced in their minds.

As for the man who stood on the verge of gaining new power, he staggered after downing an entire bottle.

He was overwhelmed by sudden sensations.

But when his condition stabilized within seconds, another wave of murmurs began.

"This... How is this even possible? I am not dreaming, am I?"

Someone muttered under his breath.

Elder Jin stepped forward, his eyes flicking between Noa and the shelf filled with protein shakes.

Suddenly, his attention was shifted because of something.

Something that he could recognize with a single glance and still had memories of.

He wanted to reach for it.

Yet his eyes continued to dart from Noa back to the packaged artifact, his jaws clenched, pride fighting against his wishes.

But like everyone in this world, Elder Jin respected strength above everything else.

It didn’t come as a surprise when he also strived for it.

Finally, his mouth opened hesitantly.

"This..." he started, gesturing toward the fidget spinner. "What is this artifact for? What should it have done to me at that time?"

Noa smirked.

Either he was trying to make his face look as hateful as humanly possible, or he was just born that way.

"You have to earn the right to try it," Noa said and glanced at Hue Xanly.

The girl nodded as if understanding his intentions, and instead of saying the standard price, she went on a cheeky route.

"It’s a hundred True Spirit Coins," she said, a mischievous smile manifesting on her face.

Elder Jin raised his brows.

He wanted to argue, but Yun Qiqi saw his expression and shouted eagerly.

"Make him pay a thousand spirit coins. No... one million coins," she demanded, her tone serious.

Elder Jin coughed stiffly, swallowing his words.

"Hundred spirit coins, is it?" he said, emptying his pouch.

"Hmph," Yun Qiqi growled, arms crossed, her cheeks pouting. "I didn’t expect Blooming Iron Sect’s elder to be a beggar."

She also snorted and took the pouch from his hand.

"Give me that! It’s hard for me to trust you," she snorted and threatened the elder with a flick if he was even a single coin short.

After counting the coins and nodding with disdain, Yun Qiqi permitted Elder Jin to unpack a fidget spinner.

The man hesitated.

His fingers trembled.

His authority and commanding nature were nowhere to be seen.

Beneath his unshakable demeanor, uncertainty crept like a serpent, coiling around his whole being.

He started with a sigh.

Then—

He gave it a soft push, twisting it on his finger.

For a moment, nothing happened, as if he were yet to be worthy of its divine experience.

His heart stopped.

Thinking that it wouldn’t work or the item was actually a scam, and Noa was just playing with him, reemerged in his mind.

But then—

It slowly started to cast light around him.

The tension in his shoulders grew softer, forcing him to sit in the lotus position.

To his surprise, even the stagnant qi he had been trying to move more smoothly began to flow with ease.

In this moment, he was truly happy.

Memories of his first cultivation flooded his head.

He felt like a kid again when his master taught him how to circulate mana through his meridians.

The onlookers saw his visibly relaxed posture.

Seven elemental vortexes materialized behind him, giving him the push he needed for so long.

Then—

Boom!

Waves of energy exploded in his body, expanding his core and muscles, while also adding more understanding of the world in his head.

It was a clean breakthrough.

Done in a single minute.

And he had paid only one hundred spirit coins for it.

"Told you," Noa said, clearly enjoying the moment. "Now let’s talk about a price for your sect."
