Dig Up the Sun Emperor's Legacy: I Build an Invincible Undead Legion -
Chapter 152: Goodbye, Jennifer
Chapter 152: Goodbye, Jennifer
The vanguard general was getting closer and closer to the small path. Just one last turn before he’d reach it.
Right then, his mind was still lost in fantasies about a bright future, completely clueless about the danger waiting ahead.
Just as he turned the corner,
All of a sudden,
"Creak!" rang out, followed by two vicious sword flashes.
"Crash!"
"Slash!"
The vanguard general’s sandy head went flying.
He stared in complete shock—there were actually two terrifying monsters waiting in ambush on the small path!
In the last second before blacking out, he suddenly remembered something, the corners of his mouth turned up, and he actually smiled:
"Goodbye... goodbye, Jennifer!"
A single tear hit the ground, and the vanguard general crumbled into a pile of black sand with a thunderous crash!
After taking down the fleeing creature, a glint of light from the black sand pile suddenly caught a Shield Guard’s eye.
"Roar?"
A Shield Guard walked over, reached out to brush away the black sand, and picked up the glowing thing.
This had to be loot too, though it gave the skeleton a kind of weird feeling.
...
"Found some mystery loot?"
Carlos got the info through the soul link from a Shield Guard.
But he didn’t rush over to check it out right away—he figured he’d wait until this fight was over.
[Spirit Essence +1.9]
[Spirit Essence +1.9]
[Spirit Essence +1.9]
[...]
[Spirit Essence accumulated 16000, Spirit +1, current Spirit 17]
[Gained Attribute Point +1, Skill Point +1]
...
Info about the spirit boost hit his mind. Carlos smoothly added 1 point to Strength and 1 point to Skeleton Revival.
Meanwhile, the battle down below was wrapping up, with Shield Guards chasing down the few remaining black sand soldiers.
"Swoosh!"
Carlos flew down, landing on a small path covered with a layer of black sand.
Looked like quite a few black sand soldiers had tried to escape this way, all taken out by the Shield Guards.
"Roar!"
The Shield Guard watching this passage respectfully held out an item.
Carlos looked down and saw it was actually a gorgeous black gemstone necklace!
Under the sunlight, it gleamed with beautiful colors that were absolutely mesmerizing.
Picking up this fancy necklace, Carlos gave it a good look:
[Brilliant Obsidian Necklace]
[Quality: Purple (***)]
[Special Enhancement: Charisma +1 (***)]
[When worn by Obsidian Clan, greatly improves quality and enhancement]
[Warning: This is one of the Obsidian Stone weapon components, with extremely high chance of attracting Obsidian Stone Clan attention.]
"This spirit gear..."
Carlos found it more and more familiar as he looked at it, quickly connecting it to his memory.
His eyes suddenly went wide.
"Wait, isn’t this the Obsidian City Lord’s Radiant Stone Equipment?
What’s it doing here?"
The Obsidian City Lord—one of the future big shots. What stuck with him most was her incredibly fancy Radiant Stone Equipment set.
Radiant Stone Equipment was a type of Resonating Spirit Gear.
Most spirit gear just existed on its own with no connections to other pieces.
But Resonating Spirit Gear was different—similar or different spirit gear could work together.
The more spirit gear that resonated, the more terrifying the power they unleashed, and even the boosts would go way up.
For example, the various Age of Swords clan swords Carlos had picked up were one type of Resonating Spirit Gear. Similar clan swords created bond resonance, boosting stats for whoever wielded the sword.
The Obsidian City Lord’s Radiant Stone Equipment worked the same way.
Spirit gear from different equipment slots resonated together, packing powerful resonance boosts into one person.
Put simply, it was like a precious "set"!
"Black Sand Kingdom... Obsidian Necklace... Obsidian Clan... Obsidian City Lord..."
There had to be some really deep connection here.
"How could the vanguard general have Radiant Stone Equipment pieces?
What’s the deal between the Black Sand Kingdom and the Obsidian Stone Clan?"
Carlos wondered to himself.
In his memory, there wasn’t much info about the Obsidian City Lord.
The official background only mentioned her origins as Obsidian Stone Clan.
When she first showed up, she used overwhelming power to forcibly take over a human city-state, renaming it Obsidian City, which is how she got the title Obsidian City Lord.
"From what I remember, it seems like besides the Obsidian City Lord, no other Obsidian Stone Clan members ever appeared."
Carlos pulled his scattered thoughts back together and checked this spirit gear’s enhancement, frowning a bit.
"Charisma +1—totally useless to me."
Seemed like apart from the connection to the Obsidian City Lord, this spirit gear didn’t offer much else.
"I’ll hang onto it for now and figure it out later."
His gut told him that down the road, he might get a chance to run into the Obsidian City Lord, and then it could come in really handy.
...
Yasi Green Capital
In the nearby thick forest, a mysterious obsidian stone coffin appeared out of nowhere, slowly falling onto the crown of a massive tree, scaring off countless birds.
Suddenly,
Creak!
The obsidian stone coffin actually started to slowly open. From the crack, a hand emerged—perfect and flawless like carved obsidian crystal!
Then, the obsidian stone coffin lid got slowly pushed open by this hand until more than half was showing.
The mysterious creature inside sat up. Under the sunlight, her entire body sparkled with crystal shine!
This... this was actually a living obsidian crystal girl!
The chirping of birds, the harsh sunlight—the mysterious crystal girl felt everything was so strange, yet somehow had a long-lost sense of familiarity.
"Where am I?"
Though it was a question, her voice didn’t have a trace of emotion.
She stood up.
An incredibly stunning face, a magnificent crystal body—like a beautiful work of art that made you want to admire and carefully protect it.
A breeze blew by, bringing coolness to her skin. The crystal girl looked down at her chest and murmured:
"Where’s my Radiant Stone Equipment?"
The Radiant Stone Equipment was gone...
...gone...
The crystal girl was stunned. She figured someone had taken off and stolen her Radiant Stone Equipment while she was sleeping!
She felt mad inside.
"What should I do?"
Though the Radiant Stone Equipment was really important to her, she still kept her cool and started thinking...
In the forest, the wind picked up, dark clouds rolled in, and raindrops started falling.
Rainwater dripped on her crystal body like a gentle massage. The crystal girl looked up.
"It’s raining..."
Out of habit, she went back to the obsidian stone coffin and lay down properly.
Just as she was about to pull the coffin lid shut, suddenly she felt like she was lying on something.
"Huh?"
She sat up and felt around with her hand.
A familiar cube-shaped object appeared before her eyes, though its glow was pretty dim.
"So there you are."
The crystal girl realized calmly.
This was exactly the super important Radiant Stone Equipment. When she’d been sleeping, it had automatically come off because it ran out of juice.
"Mmm... I’ll put it on first."
She pressed the Radiant Stone Equipment core into her chest.
Unique psychic energy flowed in.
The Radiant Stone Equipment fired up, and a set of tough obsidian battle dress quickly formed over the crystal girl’s body.
This way, she could stay out of the rain more peacefully.
"Bang!"
The stone coffin closed again, and the crystal girl started waiting for the rain to stop...

Black Sand Center Army
"Gen... General, the vanguard camp’s been attacked!"
A black sand soldier rushed up to report.
"Attacked?"
The center army general was thrilled.
"How’s it looking?
Is that guy dead?"
