Detective Agency of the Bizarre -
Chapter 413 - 413 270
413: 270.
The Death of Lu Li 413: 270.
The Death of Lu Li The story’s plot was bound to come true, but sometimes there was a chance to turn things around.
For example, Lu Li was attacked by Sara and was forced to strike Aileen before; the word “smash toward” rather than “smash on” appeared in the plot.
But now it has happened.
A prayer-like, sharp whisper echoed through his mind.
Darkness, devoid of any light, engulfed Lu Li.
He lost control over his body, as if an observer, witnessing the sharp shovel swing, severing the slowly falling fishing line, smashing on the legs of Aileen, who had been dragged out only several dozen centimeters by Anna.
Like a hot knife through butter, the Baron’s legs and the mud beneath her were cut through by the falling pitch-black shovel.
The surging blood was quickly washed away by the rain, forming streams in the puddles that extended into the distance.
A pained grunt came from the curtain of rain, transforming into an unbearable moan of agony.
“Aileen, what have I done…” After dropping the shovel, Lu Li retreated in an attempt to change the situation before the obscure, ancient voice could sound.
“Aileen!
What have I done…” The painful shout awakened Lu Li, and he came back to his senses, staring in shock at Maid Irene whose legs he had chopped off.
The servant Lu Li, at his wit’s end, instinctively sought Sara’s help.
At that moment, a dagger appeared in Sara’s hand, and with an indifferent expression, she plunged it into the servant Lu Li’s lower back.
Lu Li wanted to turn around instantly, but that controlled sensation descended once again, and numerous twisted whispers resonated in his ears.
As if in slow motion, the pitch-black dagger stabbed towards him, and Anna could not bother to hide anymore; she materialized beside Lu Li, her hair floating, dark shadows extending, her pupils red as vengeful spirits, and a chilling aura enveloping the surroundings, protecting Lu Li at its center.
But it only lasted a moment.
Anna let out a painful cry, “I can’t hold it!!!”
The light around twisted for an instance, as if something had happened, or as if nothing had happened at all—the dagger sunk into Lu Li’s side without any impediment.
The dagger pulled out carried fresh red bloodstains, and the servant Lu Li collapsed on the ground without strength, the blood spreading quickly across his clothing.
“Lu Li!”
Anna’s presence grew more potent, laced with a chilling, raging malice.
The Soul Projection warped, becoming more tangible, to the point where it was hard to look at directly.
Angered, Anna charged towards where Sara might have been, while Lu Li lifted his hand, his palm passing through her ethereal body.
Anna sensed something, paused briefly, and turned to look at Lu Li’s still-calm face.
“Stop the bleeding for us,” he said, his gaze falling on the Baron.
She stubbornly refused to cry out, tipping her head back to look at Lu Li, while the butler staggered off to call for a doctor and Petra Vincent.
“Why did you do this?” Lu Li asked Sara, withdrawing his gaze.
“Why did you do this?” Confusion, regret, and fear lingered in the servant Lu Li’s mind.
“Why did you do this?” Sara repeated softly, moving toward the suffering Maid Irene with the blood-dripping dagger in her hand.
“To stop me and Adam, to snitch, to cause Adam’s death… Why did you do this?”
Sara returned the question to them, not eliciting the obscure, ancient voice, requiring them to answer for themselves.
“We were forced,” the Baron’s voice rose, suppressed by the pain she was enduring.
The heavy rain quickly washed away her cold sweat, body heat, and blood, the cold and significant blood loss made it harder and harder for the Baron to stay conscious.
Sara found it laughable; she couldn’t even bother to say anything as she approached Maid Irene step by step.
This former good friend of hers had lost so much blood she could no longer bear it and fainted from the strain.
The Baron did not faint, but she could no longer think clearly, her blurry vision showing her that her severed legs had stopped bleeding—she looked again at Lu Li, the man who had chopped off her legs, as he was looking this way.
She was indeed on the brink of collapse.
No longer forced, Sara’s consciousness sank into the boundless darkness.
[Sara stopped in her tracks, suddenly wondering if the reason her experiments had always failed was because she used corpses?
What if she performed the ritual with a living person instead…]
Lu Li’s expression flickered, and he whispered to Anna, “I’ll pretend to be unconscious so she takes me with her.
After you’re sure of my location, go call for Petra.”
Anna’s crimson eyes fixed on Lu Li, her breath fluctuating violently with her emotions, “I want to follow you.”
Lu Li didn’t say anything; he just shook his head, let the back of his head fall into the puddle, closed his eyes, and silently endured the raindrops pounding on his body.
Sara would never leave Lu Li conscious.
This paranoid woman, whose heart was set on resurrecting her lover and believed that everyone had betrayed her, could no longer be persuaded with words.
To stay alive, Lu Li had no choice but to gamble like Aileen, betting that Sara wouldn’t kill him immediately if she thought she could use a living person for her experiment.
This was his only chance.
And the possibility that Vinson might come to their rescue.
[Sara turned her head and looked at the likewise still servant, Lu Li.
His chest was still heaving; he was not yet dead.
She approached Lu Li, plunged the dagger into the servant Lu Li’s neck, then paused.]
[“Two living people… If the experiment fails, they could serve as backups,” Sara thought to herself, retracting the dagger that had drawn blood on the neck of servant Lu Li.]
[No one noticed what was happening in the back garden.
Sara hid Lu Li in the bushes, picked up Maid Irene’s two severed legs, and dragged her towards the woodshed—]
…
Ten minutes after Lu Li and Anna were attacked.
“The blood trail has disappeared, only remaining where they were attacked,” Vinson said, squinting his eyes and holding a pipe in his mouth.
Petra, supported by a maid, surveyed the lawn and looked towards the direction of the woodshed, “They might be in—”
“The basement.” A cold voice sounded, and a pair of striking red eyes came into everyone’s view.
“A vengeful spirit!?” Vinson exclaimed in shock.
Petra remained relatively calm, addressing the overly-reactive Vinson, “She is Lu Li’s friend.”
Vinson stepped back with a sneer, reaching into his breast pocket, “You investigators always have some incomprehensibly foolish ideas, befriending a vengeful spirit?
Fabulous!”
“Are you sure you want to confront a vengeful spirit during a ritual with evil spirits?” Petra started to say something but suddenly felt an insidious and breath-stealing chill of malice rising from the vengeful spirit.
“Easy, we’re on the same side!” Petra hastily said to Anna, shifting her attention, “Are Lu Li and the Baron okay?”
The twisted aura emanating from Anna slightly receded.
Vinson didn’t say anything but still kept his distance, warily watching her.
Anna’s ethereal and exquisite features carried a disquieting chill of tyranny, suppressing her negative emotions, “The Baron has lost his legs and is unconscious, Lu Li has been stabbed in the abdomen, and they were taken to the basement and then Sara left temporarily.”
After saying this, her figure faded and she returned to Lu Li’s side.
Petra looked at the butler, “Vinson and I will go stall Sara, you take the doctor to the basement to treat them.”
