Demon Hunter and His Cabin -
Chapter 956 - 708 +2_2
Chapter 956: Chapter 708 +2_2
This was Jora’s initial idea, but Roger’s advancements gave her new hope.
If they continued to remain hidden, the situation would become even more chaotic. Beyond herself, many of the rebels who followed her would die in the turmoil.
Thus, Jora placed her hopes on Roger, hoping they could secretly collaborate to catch Heyman off guard, implementing their decapitation plan to turn the tide in one swift stroke.
All hopes were pinned on this; it was a battle of no return, a do-or-die gamble.
"If it’s merely a transit device for teleportation, similar portals exist in many cities of Erode. There’s no need for Heyman to make such a grand gesture to rebuild them now."
Roger pondered deeply, "Additionally, if he truly intended to do this, he’d already have had enough time to execute the plan. Though Jora mentioned that these buildings can briefly bolster Heyman’s Transcendent followers’ power, something about it feels odd..."
Passing by the outskirts of a city, a shadow split off from Roger’s body and concealed itself, intending to investigate when the timing was right.
Jora refrained from taking action and exposing her plan; destroying just a portion of these structures would accomplish nothing.
The pair concealed their tracks, spending a long time before seeing the northern skies filled with drifting snow. They approached Frozen Valley, nearing the defensive Shielding, where Jora returned to her human form.
"Don’t forget your earlier promise."
She suddenly spoke, "I’m doing this for survival. It’s a transaction; we’re square after this. Remember, you must not let Dora know about this."
Although she and Dora were twins, Jora was far stronger, and the bond between them was only one-sided.
Roger was beginning to understand the secretive connection between Jora and her sister Dora.
To create a special flame, Jora had to use her own emotions as nourishment.
In the long run, this inevitably made her more emotionless, both in personality and feelings.
Ironically, the creation of the Emotion Flame demonstrated the depth and richness of Jora’s feelings, yet walking further down this path led her to burn her emotions, resulting in increasing coldness.
It was an inescapable paradox. She needed to maintain balance, and fortunately, the twin bond allowed Jora to obtain complete emotional experiences in another form.
For Jora, Dora was not just her younger sister but also her tether to existence as a living being.
To protect Dora, Jora had unilaterally Shielded herself from their mutual connection.
Of course, this was only Roger’s speculation. Over time, countless events had unfolded, and these thoughts flickered momentarily in his mind before he feigned anger with a cold snort.
"The one who needs secrecy is you!"
"How should I face my Dora when we return?!"
"You broke the purity between us!"
"Have you forgotten what you did in the cave?!"
As soon as those words left his mouth, Roger turned and charged through the defense, descending into the valley without looking back.
Sensing the disturbance, Amanda promptly appeared at the palace gates. To avoid suspicion, Sonia continued to hide within the palace.
Before Roger even landed, Amanda rushed forward without hesitation. Witnessing this, Jora froze momentarily, her figure vanishing into the sky.
"How did it go?" Amanda whispered.
"We’ll talk inside."
Inside the palace, the Advent enveloped the entire area, ensuring no interruptions. The three gathered in Amanda’s room, where Sonia reverted to her original form.
"Honestly, I’m not sure if it worked."
Roger looked helpless as he recounted the events, leaving out the secrets of the Hunter’s Cabin.
"It should be considered a success, but it likely won’t be of much help to me," Sonia said regretfully.
"Let’s figure out something else. If all else fails, we must sneak away to a secluded place where we can hide out, allowing time to dissolve the rules’ suppression and help Amanda return to her original world."
"My core structure has stabilized. Even though some Life Essence is missing, I should still be able to manage one more journey in my current state."
Roger knew that Sonia’s original strength should have provided ample time to discern and choose the safest world for her passage.
Alternatively, she could scatter her consciousness widely to probe various possibilities.
However, the confinement of Hillrenes and the consumption from the Wings of Shadow had drained her excessively. Without Roger’s intervention, she might have already been thoroughly depleted within the crevices.
The gamble had caused continuous changes, leading Sonia’s mindset to fluctuate.
"It’s not all for nothing," Roger suddenly said. "Open your core structure. Let me see if I can think of another method."
"What other method?"
Sonia sighed but complied, exposing her core.
In truth, Roger didn’t feel confident; it was all conjecture and experimentation.
Invading her consciousness, he quickly entered Sonia’s colorful and surreal world, where countless luminous bands intertwined. Her Dual-element structure was intact, save for the missing Life Essence needed to activate her core completely.
With a thought, the Hunter’s Cabin materialized in his consciousness. He tried to guide the lake water gathered before the cabin.
After some moments, nothing happened.
"Strange. Can’t I even manipulate it as the owner?"
After trying many approaches, the surroundings of the cabin remained silent. Furrowing his brow, he spent a long time observing the Shadow Gate and the Lantern hanging at its entrance.
"What’s needed to activate the energy within the lake?"
"Wait..."
"Maybe I need a different perspective."
A flash of inspiration struck him. Roger withdrew from Sonia’s core and directly asked, "Do you trust me?"
"I’m confident I can infuse Life Essence into your Dual-element core, but I need you to fuse your soul consciousness with your core structure."
Roger’s proposal was bold, but for Sonia, it was akin to handing over her life and soul completely.
Even though she wasn’t at the Fifth Tier yet, the value of an ultimate warrior’s soul and body was immeasurable.
Silence enveloped the room. Sonia lowered her head, contemplating for a long time. She then glanced at Amanda before focusing her gaze on Roger.
"How confident are you?"
"Sixty percent!"
"Alright, that’s enough. I’ll trust you this time."
"If this fails, I might never have a chance to regret it." Sonia said with self-mockery.
But Roger simply smiled. "Don’t worry. We won’t fail."
Roger understood the significance behind Sonia’s glance at Amanda. If he still couldn’t see through Sonia’s hidden preparations by now, he’d truly be a fool.
Sonia knew her power was limited, yet she hadn’t resorted to coercion. Instead, she had laid numerous foundations to maximize her usefulness throughout the journey.
Her initial promises were genuine, but as circumstances evolved, her contingency plans came into play.
Bringing Amanda safely back to her original world depended heavily on Sonia’s aid. Although she hadn’t spoken directly, her unspoken intent was evident.
Roger didn’t harbor resentment; in her position, he might not have handled things as frankly as Sonia.
The events they’d experienced made Roger wary, yet he wouldn’t harm Sonia without cause.
Under Roger’s watch, Sonia’s eyes dulled, her body hardened like stone, and her soul merged with her core structure, altering its shape.
Seizing the moment, Roger infiltrated her core structure, extracting it and treating it as a Transcendent artifact, which he submerged into the lake before the cabin.
Gurgle.
With a faint bubbling sound, Roger sensed the emerald water rapidly pouring into Sonia’s core structure!
The empty core filled at an astonishing pace.
"It works!"
Roger was overjoyed.
During the process, Roger realized something else—the core’s complexity not only influenced initial expansion but also provided direct enhancements through the Life Essence it contained.
"Haha, Sonia +2 complete!"
He retrieved the fully infused core structure and placed it back into Sonia’s body.
As Roger watched expectantly, Sonia slowly opened her eyes.
A faint green glow shimmered within.
