Demon Hunter and His Cabin -

Chapter 955: Chapter 708 +2
The fire of desire within him had been ignited by Jora, but Roger hadn’t completely lost his sanity. At this moment, a mist of water surrounded Jora.
In the hazy veil, her pale body appeared and disappeared intermittently. One could not deny that sometimes the allure of partial obscurity was far more enticing than complete exposure.
To ignite the emotions within others, Jora had to use her own flames as a medium.
Feeling the surge of desire within him, Roger couldn’t help but sigh.
"How long have I been holding this in?"
But how could he know that the fire of Jora’s desire was born of Roger’s endless days and nights of indulgence?
Shared suffering could never compare to personal experience.
"Must it really be like this?"
Exhaling a wave of scorching breath, Roger asked helplessly. Although the flames stimulated every nerve in his body, with his current power, he could free himself from Jora at any time.
"This is the best solution. Only these emotions can strengthen both of us... continuously. I need your help."
"We stimulate each other, and through the guidance of the fire of desire, I can expel the coldness inside me. Only then can I preserve my strength to the greatest extent."
Jora’s voice was icy, devoid of even a trace of emotional fluctuation.
But the slight change at the corner of her eyes betrayed her true feelings at this moment.
Some emotions could not be summoned easily.
Rage was merely a rootless source, far too weak to sustain the burning needed to expel the cold within.
And right now, this was the best option available.
"Ugh... Can I refuse?"
"You know, about Dora and me..."
"Don’t mention her name!" Jora interrupted Roger harshly, her chest heaving violently, even the surrounding mist unable to conceal it.
"This is about survival!"
"After today, you will forget all of this completely, and you must never mention Dora to me again—otherwise, I will kill you with my own hands!"
Jora let out a low growl, her figure flashing as she appeared right in front of Roger.
Roger wore a pained expression, "Forget it, forget it. You are Dora’s sister, and you turned into this state to help me fend off the Ice Butterflies. This is my debt to you!"
He closed his eyes, stretched his legs, and his voice trembled, "Fine, just do it. I’ll pretend to know nothing!"
Jora was so furious her nose nearly twisted out of shape. The fire of rage surged within her, almost overwhelming another fire altogether. She hesitated whether or not to kick the man in front of her when Roger abruptly opened his eyes, pressing a hand against her chest!
"You...!"
She only managed to utter one word before, in the next second, a familiar flame erupted from her chest. Her vision blurred, and her entire body gave way, collapsing into a soft heap.
"Ah, life is too hard," Roger muttered to himself, then moved with practiced ease...
Hmm?
Practiced ease?
Ssss, ssss, ssss.
The ice melted, vapor rising and creating the sound of waves crashing against the shore.
...
The Lava World was engulfed in vivid red flames, yet the surroundings did not seem to affect Roger in the least. He leaned lazily against a rock, stretching his legs in a casual movement.
"It’d be great if I could have a smoke right now."
As he muttered this to himself, a sharp reprimand came from beside him, "What did you say?"
Turning his head, he saw a figure emerging from the blaze of an underground magma river. It was Jora, completely restored to her usual self.
She seemed perfectly fine, but the coldness in her gaze directed at Roger was now even more intense.
"Nothing much. How are you feeling?"
Originally, it was just a casual inquiry, but Jora’s expression immediately darkened. Sensing the unintended ambiguity in his words, Roger hastily corrected himself: "Uh... I mean, when are we leaving this place?"
Jora’s demeanor softened slightly, "It’s been nearly eradicated."
At that moment, Roger no longer dared offer any hint of further assistance. Though the experience had been... memorable, he wasn’t ready to push his luck with Jora.
In Erode, when this woman went mad, she was truly terrifying.
"After we return, I’ll need some time to recover. You must take the chance to break through to the Fifth Tier. Only by improving your strength can we move on to the next phase of our plan."
"Let’s go, we’re leaving!"
With that, she leapt into the air, transforming into a Giant Dragon. Roger sighed and shook his head, standing up with a weary expression.
"Turns out being a Dragon Knight isn’t easy at all!"
He followed quickly behind Jora, leaving the volcanic region at great speed.
The two moved swiftly, avoiding areas controlled by the council. Still, along the way, traces of ravaged cities and ongoing battles could be seen all around.
"To invest so much effort into building so many structures, what exactly is Heyman’s goal?"
Roger’s curiosity was piqued.
"They’re energy relay towers, designed to facilitate Heyman in transporting the Sky City or other Transcendents from the council to nearby locations."
Jora explained casually.
"Are we just going to let them keep building?"
"Surely, we should do something about it." Roger felt an inexplicable sense of foreboding growing in his heart.
"We’ve been resisting all along. It’s just that we’re constantly at a disadvantage. So many people have been sacrificed in the fights; I even narrowly escaped an ambush once."
Jora’s face was heavy with worry, clearly devoid of a better solution.
Whether in terms of the number of Transcendents or peak combat power, the Rebels were outmatched. Guerrilla warfare was one thing, but if it came to direct confrontation, it would undoubtedly lead to their defeat.
Previously, because Jora’s combat strength surpassed Heyman’s, the two sides maintained a tenuous balance out of mutual apprehension.
But the arrival of the Inspectors had harshly shattered this false equilibrium. The best option for the Rebels now was to hide, develop in secret, and wait for an opportunity to strike.
