Demon Hunter and His Cabin -

Chapter 939: Chapter 700: Please Lie Down_2
"In the end, unless my enemy completely severs all emotions and becomes a cold, unfeeling machine, they will never escape this flame."
Even though the flame is not yet complete, just based on its current prototype, Roger can already foresee the immense power this flame will possess in the future.
It seems that during Jora’s departure, she ignited a fire of fear within everyone, using fear as its fuel. All those who’ve been hurt had a brief moment of losing control over their bodies.
In a battle where every second counts, this would create a tremendous advantage.
However, cultivating this flame must require an enormous amount of effort. Even extracting just a tiny portion has left Jora looking utterly exhausted.
She clenched her fist, and the burning flame contracted inward, transforming into a dazzling bead that floated on her palm.
"Take it. Merge it with the two structural cores inside and gradually comprehend its essence. If you plan to follow a path similar to mine, then prepare as soon as possible."
"I’ll gather the necessary materials for you, and most importantly, the Life Essence at the core. Next, I need to leave for a while to make adjustments to the entire resistance organization."
"For a long stretch of time, we’ll likely have to retreat into the shadows, conserving our strength and awaiting the day of counterattack."
"If you encounter any issues while I’m away, you can use this flame to send me messages. As for..."
"As for Dora’s situation, I’ll try to figure something out. In the meantime, the burden falls on you."
Jora finally instructed.
After she left, Roger returned to his residence and recounted the events to Amanda and Sonia.
"That’s roughly how it is. This is, indeed, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Sonia, you need to quickly absorb the radiance from those four artifacts and complete this stage of fusion. I’ll subsequently search for other materials for you."
"Until the essence is accumulated, completing the final evolution."
Roger analyzed.
He had already planned to request materials in the name of his cultivation and secretly assist Sonia. So long as Sonia could complete her ascension,
he could immediately take them away and have Sonia initiate the ritual to swap Amanda’s soul with Dora again.
Roger did not tell Amanda and Sonia about the hidden danger he carried. His voluntary crossing of worlds would attract that prying gaze.
As he hadn’t yet come up with a solution, Roger planned to wait until Amanda was safely away before considering countermeasures.
"What about me?"
"Is there anything I can help with?"
Amanda suddenly asked. Though it wasn’t her intention, the matter did originate from her. Among the three of them, her strength was the weakest, but she still wanted to contribute in some way.
"You don’t have to do anything—just rest well in bed." Roger replied offhandedly.
"Rest in bed?"
Hearing this, Amanda scrutinized Roger warily, "What are you up to?"
"What could I possibly be up to?" Roger, noticing Amanda’s reaction, deduced what thoughts were running through the red-haired girl’s mind.
It was truly a grave misunderstanding. Roger wore an expression of being wrongly accused.
"Hmph, don’t think I don’t know what you’re thinking." Amanda muttered softly.
"Listen, Amanda, I’m doing this for your own good."
Roger had no choice but to explain.
"I think it’s more for your own benefit, isn’t it? Or is it..."
On this matter, Amanda refused to believe a single word Roger said.
"Your soul is relatively weak. Controlling a powerful body imposes a significant burden. The closer the synchronization between the body and the soul, the more frequent the use, the greater the harm."
Roger had to reveal the truth, "So, doing nothing and quietly resting in bed is the best choice."
"Oh, so that’s how it is."
The suspicion on Amanda’s face subsided a little.
"That’s indeed the case. Alright, everyone, stay cautious and avoid leaving this place for now."
Roger also planned to examine the structural skill he obtained from Jora, as well as the unique Flame Bead.
"Wait." Amanda suddenly spoke. "I still feel like you have ulterior motives."
Roger turned his head and saw a hint of amusement on Amanda’s face, "Missing interactions can indeed affect mood, but that doesn’t seem to bother you much..."
"Uh..."
Roger opened his mouth, only to realize, to his surprise, that Amanda’s observation was accurate.
He was left speechless.
Watching Amanda leave and return to her room, Roger ignored her final glance and slowly walked up to Sonia.
"I need your assistance with something."
Roger wore a grave expression.
"I know. We can’t traverse across worlds for now, but is it possible... to send some simple information?"
"Even if it’s just a sentence."
Sonia opened her eyes from her contemplation, "What happened?"
"That Heyman has located our world’s position through Chachi, and he’s likely already dispatched people there. I’m worried something might happen."
Deep down, Roger had full confidence in Kaer Morhen’s defenses.
The Elder of Shadows, Uma controlling the Nine-Tailed Fox, and Higurashi Chika—these individuals were all formidable. Anyone Heyman sent across worlds would surely have their real combat strength diminished by rules.
Thus, this attack was highly likely to fail—but one could never be too cautious.
They could not return for now.
Without the protection of the ritual, Amanda’s soul would undoubtedly be torn apart during the crossing. The opportunity was too important, and Sonia couldn’t leave either.
But if they could convey even a simple message to let Kaer Morhen’s people prepare in advance, they could ensure absolute safety.
Sonia thought for a moment, "There is indeed a way."
"After all, this ritual was designed to be initiated by both parties in tandem from the start. My power has been heavily suppressed, and I can’t activate the ritual now. But if it’s just sending simple information, I can try."
"However, as far as I know, this world’s barrier is incredibly solid. Are you certain Heyman would really send people to our world?"
Sonia asked.
Roger thought for a while, "Perhaps he’s using some special method we’re unaware of."
The two exchanged a look, each seeing a glimmer of resolve in the other’s eyes.
Meanwhile...
Heyman handed over the final arrangements to his subordinates before hurriedly returning to Sky City.
Upon arriving at the Underground Palace, someone was already waiting for him.
"No news yet?"
Thinking of that face, Heyman burned with anger.
"Speaker, although the other side is a low-energy world, time flows much slower there than here. Evans departed not long ago and is likely searching for clues now."
"Please be patient. I believe Evans will soon bring back Miss Dora’s soul..."
"And Amanda’s body!"
Heyman coldly interrupted, "That girl is crucial; her body must be brought back!"
"Rest assured. I’ve given strict orders."
"If time permits, Geralt’s kin will also be eradicated."
"Good."
A smile appeared on Heyman’s face. Just then, an abrupt voice rang in his ears, "Where are you?"
"Come see me!"
The voice was bodiless but authoritative enough to make Heyman instinctively straighten his posture.
He hastily gave a few orders before heading to the highest point of Sky City. In the vast hall, a shadow flickered.
Swish!
The map of Erode unfurled in front of him, and the Inspector spoke directly, "Issue orders. We need towers constructed at the marked locations on the map, requiring support from all nations and the majority of Transcendents."
"Towers?"
Heyman looked puzzled. Although called towers, they were simply tall, spire-like structures, with each varying greatly in design.
The term was merely a generic designation.
"This is just the first step. We need to seal off Erode’s space barriers entirely. Once the towers are constructed, no living thing will be allowed to enter or exit..."
"Unless granted your permission."
"Such large-scale construction will come at tremendous costs. With the tight timeline, many will perish."
Heyman voiced his concerns.
"Don’t worry. They’ll agree, because in the short term, as the towers are constructed, reducing energy overflow, all Transcendents will experience a slight power increase."
"Once everything is complete, we’ll move on to the second phase: freezing everyone’s path to ascension."
The Inspector’s voice pierced Heyman’s core.
"Because only then can you become the ultimate deity!"
