Chapter 874: Chapter 668: Beware of the Woman by Your Side_2
At this moment, Roger and Amanda had arrived at the foot of the mountain.
Roger lifted his head, his keen senses detecting an anomaly in the space. "It seems someone has broken through the spatial barrier." He frowned.
"No, something’s odd; it feels like it’s not just the space but involves something else as well."
"Amanda, Muska’s memories mentioned that this is the Dragon’s Sanctuary. Do you know anything about this place...?"
Tilting his head slightly, Roger immediately noticed something strange about Amanda.
The girl raised her head, her red hair lazily draped on both sides, but at this moment, her eyes were hollow, her face expressionless.
"Amanda?"
Roger called out in a low voice, his tone carrying a hint of intimidation.
Yet Amanda remained completely unresponsive. In the next moment, flames enveloped her body, and she soared into the sky like a great bird.
Recalling Amanda’s earlier mention of memory loss, Roger’s figure flashed and followed closely behind.
He hesitated, refraining from attacking Amanda directly.
Her mental state was bizarre; her thoughts seemed chaotic, and Roger didn’t know whether subduing Amanda in such a state would lead to irreversible consequences.
But it seemed that all the issues were highly likely to be tied to the distant palace. Perhaps only finding the true cause could resolve everything completely.
With that thought, Roger suppressed his urge to act.
Amanda charged forward recklessly, her speed astonishing.
She flew close to the mountain’s surface, and the flames surrounding her burned the trees along the way. Wherever she passed, it was as though struck by a Giant Dragon’s breath.
Not long after, the two arrived in front of the palace at the mountain’s peak.
At this moment, on top of the palace, a strange spatial distortion appeared, and the surrounding energy warped near the space.
Though unclear about the cause and effect, Roger immediately sensed the peculiar nature of the space.
Arriving here, Amanda instead became quiet.
The flames on her body gradually extinguished, and clarity slowly returned to her eyes.
"What happened earlier? What was that?"
Roger asked in a tense voice, but before he could finish his words, a cluster of bizarre energy suddenly shot out from the space above.
The energy moved with incredible speed, appearing before Amanda in the blink of an eye.
"Watch out!"
The ground beneath seemed to squirm like a living thing. Roger and Amanda’s positions swapped, an invisible defense shield appeared in front of Roger, while Amanda had been relocated ten meters behind him.
There was no loud collision.
The strange energy had pierced straight through the barrier in front of Roger.
Though shocked internally, Roger didn’t panic. Instinctively, he raised his hand to block.
There was no overwhelming impact, and the energy carried no terrifying aura.
His body felt a slight chill as the strange energy dissipated completely after passing through Roger’s body.
"What was that?!"
Out of the corner of his eye, Roger saw Amanda still standing ten meters behind him, seemingly unaffected by the bizarre energy.
Feeling slightly relieved, Roger refocused his attention on the palace before him.
However, unbeknownst to him, just as he turned around, the energy reappeared from behind, fully condensing before shooting straight at Amanda.
Amanda’s face was full of confusion, but a trace of struggle flickered in her eyes.
She stared at Roger’s back with a complicated gaze, as though wanting to say something, but the next moment, the strange energy struck Amanda.
The struggle in the girl’s eyes vanished completely.
The light in her gaze gradually faded, leaving only an empty dead silence.
"Let me uncover the secrets hidden here!"
The spatial fluctuation in the sky made Roger uneasy. Though the strange energy hadn’t caused him any harm, its peculiarity lingered in his mind.
Roger strode forward. Although his pace was slow, the entire mountain seemed to tremble.
"Crack!"
The ground split apart as invisible energy manipulated it. Layers of rock stacked forward like giant arms lifting Roger upward, carrying him to the palace’s upper level.
A Quinn Sword Seal symbol appeared on his forehead.
Roger’s muscles bulged as he clasped his hands together tightly, then with a forceful motion amidst the trembling earth, tore open wide!
Boom!
The earth roared as rocks flipped and rolled. The palace at the mountain’s peak was thrust into mid-air; the ground surged as the outer walls began to collapse.
Within mere breaths, the massive palace complex crumbled amidst earthquake-like tremors.
Roger exhaled deeply, focusing intently ahead.
By merely activating a portion of the earth’s power, the resulting tremors had been sufficient to destroy the palace. At this moment, while the outer structures collapsed...
At the core, eight stone pillars stood tall, piercing through heaven and earth.
Twisted bodies were confined within the stone pillars, their surfaces covered in vein-like patterns resembling blood vessels. The Dragonborn’s Bloodline Power was being extracted and injected into the central figure within the pillars.
Roger frowned slightly.
Though the man bore some resemblance to Marco, his displayed strength far surpassed Marco.
"What’s going on?"
Soon, Roger noticed one of the figures within the stone pillars.
"Judging by the energy fluctuations, it seems to be Viola."
"Marco is definitely hiding something; perhaps he isn’t truly Marco."
Roger’s voice carried outward. These words were directed at Amanda, hoping she might provide some insight.
Despite receiving no explanation from Amanda, Roger didn’t dwell on it. His body floated forward, closing the distance to the figure in the distance.
"Who are you?"
The void was filled with strange energy connecting to the man. Roger frowned deeply—this was an energy he had never encountered before.
Unlike the differences between the Eastern and Western Worlds, the aura felt alien, almost as though it didn’t belong to this world.
His mind stirred, and Roger instantly thought of something.
"Where are you from?" He asked again.
"That’s not important."
"Call me Marco or Justin, but neither is my true identity. Now that I’ve obtained what I desired, it’s time for me to leave."
"Justin" replied.
Indeed, he wasn’t a being of this world.
Caution gripped Roger’s heart. Based on Hillrenes’ description, could the entity before him be an advent of a true form?
Was this truly a Fifth Tier being?
Roger remained extraordinarily vigilant. Without hesitation, he separated his hands, shrouding his front in dark smoke, from which an elongated weapon materialized.
Black Moon!
Gripping the longsword in his hand, an invincible force surged within him.
Unity of Human and Sword. In this instant, Roger’s aura shifted dramatically.
"Hold on!"
Justin, suspended mid-air, reacted far more strongly.
"Young warrior, I mean no harm. I am merely a traveler in this world, and now that I have obtained what I sought, please allow me to leave."
"If fate permits, perhaps we shall meet in the Another World."
"By then, you’ll find today’s act of kindness richly rewarded."
Roger’s gaze remained steady. The figure’s reaction puzzled him.
If the opponent truly was Fifth Tier, why would he display such caution toward me? Roger pondered silently.
No, bound by the rules, even a true advent’s strength would be significantly diminished. Depending on the extent of suppression, it might fall short of this world’s Fourth Tier.
However... his reaction was indeed overly extreme.
Roger remained silent, seemingly easing Justin’s tension.
The surrounding energy surged as though attempting to pierce the void.
"Everything I’ve done adheres to the rules. Dragonborn and Dragonborn..."
Justin’s body nearly disappeared as the surrounding energy thrashed wildly, expanding and contracting.
The ruptured space shrank rapidly, while the power within the stone pillars plummeted.
"Thank you, unknown warrior."
Justin looked at Roger. "Your disguise eluded my senses. Though I don’t know which world you’re from, if ever given the chance."
"If ever you visit our world, seek me out."
"I am Chachi."
The energy compressed swiftly, and before his body vanished completely, the man who called himself Chachi left behind his final words.
"Be cautious around the woman beside you."
"She has already..."
Before finishing, Chachi’s figure disappeared entirely, leaving Roger in a state of confusion.
From behind, there came a familiar voice.
"What happened, Roger?"
