Chapter 829: Chapter 646: Proxy Agent_2

Bai Ling controlled her body, slowing down as she propped herself up and gazed into the distance.

Rumble, rumble.

Like a collapsing mountain, violent crashing sounds echoed from afar. Bai Ling crossed her arms over her chest, watching the unfolding events with an air of spectator amusement.

In the distance, countless battles were playing out.

For instance, there were towering creatures over five meters tall, resembling ancient apes, and grotesque monsters with two faces and four arms capable of launching attacks from both the front and rear simultaneously.

These things had no semblance of beauty; they were synonymous with distortion and chaos. Some barely retained a recognizable semblance of form, but most looked like dozens of corpses from different creatures strewn together haphazardly and crudely stitched into a single entity.

Arms protruded from mouths, faces grew from abdomens—such grotesque examples were everywhere.

"Green Hill is dead. Who will be the next successor?"

Bai Ling observed with keen interest.

Soon, she locked onto a few particularly powerful individuals.

Regardless of their forms, these monsters all shared a common trait: their cyan-hued bodies and overwhelming strength.

"That fool Green Hill might have strength, but he’s utterly brainless. On top of that, he’s so damn brutish, always repeating the same few attacks. I’ve grown tired of it."

"Choosing a new one isn’t too bad. At least it’ll give me a change of taste."

While saying this, Bai Ling glanced down at her lower body.

"Hehe, I’d better hurry."

"The outcome of that battle over there might not take long to resolve. As a neighbor, I should prepare a little gift, don’t you think?"

Her body slowly began retreating, as she planned to move in a different direction. But just as she backed away, she suddenly froze.

The space around her compressed like rock, restricting her movements. This familiar sensation—she had just experienced it not long ago.

Her heart leapt as Bai Ling stiffly turned her head, only to see a face hovering behind her, smiling faintly.

"Your home is a bit far. It took me quite some time to find you."

"Why is it you?!"

Bai Ling’s expression turned to one of shock and horror.

"How did you find me?"

This was the Land of Eternal Darkness—entering this place wasn’t something a normal person could achieve easily. More importantly, not much time had passed since she fled from Qinglu Mountain back to this location.

Even if this man had a method to enter the Land of Eternal Darkness, how had he pinpointed her position so precisely and located her so quickly?

Named Superior Leader, Bai Ling naturally had a significant degree of influence over the region she resided in, yet from beginning to end, she hadn’t sensed any abnormalities.

Roger extended his right hand forward, causing the surrounding space to constrict further.

"This is the Land of Eternal Darkness, and I am its master."

Bai Ling sneered. "You’re the Extreme Path Sword Master; your expertise lies in close-quarters combat, and your power comes from the earth."

"But in this swamp, the strength I can unleash far exceeds what you might imagine!"

Bai Ling struggled fiercely, sensing the opposing resistance transmitted back to her. Roger couldn’t help but frown.

It was true, as the woman claimed. Here, her explosive power was far greater than back on Qinglu Mountain.

"I cooperated with the Tengu Divine Master, but you killed my partner. I have no interest in pursuing it further. Leave now, and I promise never to be your enemy."

Bai Ling’s chest heaved, her pale body strikingly visible amidst the inky black swamp.

Pure amidst filth?

Roger had his doubts.

The creatures he had encountered in the Land of Eternal Darkness were all so distorted that they reached some extreme of negativity.

"I respect your strength. Leave."

Bai Ling’s eyes glimmered. "Or perhaps you could command me to do a few small tasks for you."

Roger stared at the beautiful woman before him, his tightly furrowed brow gradually relaxing.

"You make a good point."

"However..."

Before his words trailed off, his right hand tightened again. A terrifying pressure bore down on Bai Ling, whose face twisted in alarm. In that moment, from the man standing before her, she sensed a presence eerily similar to that of the Tengu Divine Master!

A sense of total control, a mastery over space.

"This is..."

"What is this?"

"It’s another kind of power!"

"How can someone tread two paths simultaneously? That’s impossible!"

The power emanating from Roger now was fundamentally different from what she had felt back on Qinglu Mountain. It was a different form of Extreme Path energy.

Such a phenomenon was unheard of.

In the world of ordinary cultivators, a rare few might possess two Guardian Spirits, but as they progressed, these so-called prodigies would eventually have to make a choice.

They could only select one.

There had always been rumors that Sword Master Cold Crow had a similar experience, but it had only ever been speculation.

The Extreme Path is both the end and the only.

But now Bai Ling was witnessing a wielder of two distinctly different kinds of Extreme Path power.

Roger’s expression remained unchanged, as he too found himself in a peculiar state. Deep within his consciousness, the light bands surrounding the Alder Sword Seal began to fuse into one.

In this fleeting yet elusive state, it was as though he had set foot on an entirely different path.

New insights flooded his mind, and within every inch of surrounding space, he perceived countless transformations and possibilities. This newfound sensation invigorated Roger’s spirit at every moment.

As his hand slowly clenched tighter, the spatial pressure escalated sharply.

With a powerful pull, Bai Ling found herself dragged out from the swamp bit by bit, despite her desperate struggles.

The spatial pressure not only restricted her movements but, more importantly, severed her unique connection to the entire region.

This rendered her akin to a fish out of water—her strength diminished, and her ability to resist drastically reduced.

Shooting her a cursory glance, Roger furrowed his brow and forcefully shoved Bai Ling’s body back into the swamp.

The creatures living in the Land of Eternal Darkness surpassed the limits of imagination. Just glimpsing them filled Roger with discomfort.

The woman was beautiful, but only halfway so.

The other half...

"Compared to your earlier suggestion, I feel this current arrangement is just fine."

"That cyan bastard I killed earlier—where did he go?"

Roger asked.

"He’s dead."

"But he was Green Hill’s Superior Leader. We are named after the regions we embody, deriving power from them. When we die, we naturally return to them."

"And now, that place is choosing a new successor."

Bai Ling casually pointed in a direction where, sure enough, the battle was nearing its conclusion. Only three of the strongest creatures remained.

Roger pondered, quickly grasping the situation.

It seemed the regions within the Land of Eternal Darkness were akin to fragmented pieces of Cursed Land, only governed under a unified rule set.

Roger recalled the fragment he’d absorbed beneath the Maple Forest not long ago. Combining that with the current scenario, he began piecing together certain theories.

There was definitely something strange about this place.

No wonder, after countless years, the cultivators of Everworld had been unable to eradicate the Corrosion of the Land of Eternal Darkness.

From the moment he killed Green Hill, little time had passed. Yet in the direction Bai Ling indicated, a new successor was already on the verge of being born.

Such rapid regeneration was truly terrifying.

Perhaps it was merely coincidental, and not every region regenerated so quickly.

But even if this interval were stretched tenfold, or even a hundredfold, it would still be astonishingly fast.

After all, in Everworld, it took at least 50 years to produce a new Divine Master or Sword Master. But here?

An enemy that could never truly die—such an opponent might even drive an Extreme Path Sword Master to despair.

Roger couldn’t help but wonder how this region had come into existence.

The thought suddenly planted a seed of curiosity in his mind.

"Do you know how the Tengu Divine Master broke free of the limits of mortality to restore his youth?"

With such unending cycles of regeneration, if Roger were nearing the end of his life, he too would undoubtedly have considered certain possibilities.

"The Tengu Divine Master..."

Bai Ling’s eyes flickered before she glanced at the unusual aura surrounding Roger and decided to answer. "He didn’t restore his youth."

"His body had long since decayed; extending his life was already the absolute limit he could achieve. As for now?"

"It’s because he created a new body for himself."

"And he incorporated something unique to the Land of Eternal Darkness into it."

"What was it?" Roger pressed further.
