Chapter 323: Chapter 323: Secret Technique – Sword Dance Chapter 323: Chapter 323: Secret Technique – Sword Dance “Amanda, grab it!”
Seeing the werewolf turn around and dash toward the cabin, Roger shouted as he ran forward rapidly.
The imagined whip did not swing out. Roger glanced back distractedly, only to see Amanda, who had just been incomparably formidable as if she could burn all the monsters in the world, now drenched in sweat and standing pallid as death.
“Trying to act tough, girl.”
Roger felt somewhat helpless; even in his company, this girl didn’t want to appear too useless.
When confronted with danger, the werewolf ahead did not choose to dive into the thicket but charged toward the not-so-distant cabin.
If anyone said that house wasn’t strange, Roger would never believe it.
He was not so idle as to let the monster before him dive into the cabin and then, with a burst of strength, duke it out with him in a fearsome fight.
He would rather crush his opponent outright.
As the power within him erupted completely, Roger’s footsteps became light; at that moment, he seemed to merge with the night itself.
Meanwhile, a strange energy was being poured into him from within the Cursed Sword.
[Igni]
Flames erupted from his palm, and before he even got close to the door, the werewolf’s massive body was engulfed by the flames of the Igni Dharma Seal.
Abundant fur, vulnerable to fire; massive body, sluggish movements.
The moment it was ignited by the flames, the werewolf let out a bloodcurdling scream. In its agony, its speed inevitably slowed down.
Roger seized this opportunity to close the distance between them.
His body stretched out.
Light footsteps, the deep night, the dancing sword tip, and that touch of agility belonging to a cat.
“This is the feeling!”
Roger had not expected that at this moment, he would accumulate knowledge and suddenly understand the secret techniques of Night Cat amidst the darkness.
[Sword Dance]
He was the cat hidden in the darkness, the dancing sword.
He was swiftness, sharpness, and death!
This was the Sword Dance.
Roger’s figure came to a standstill as if frozen in time.
The next moment, the flames on the werewolf’s body extinguished.
Crack, crackle.
The werewolf’s huge body fell apart like scattered building blocks.
There was no blood at the wound.
Its fresh vitality and even its soul had been completely absorbed by the Cursed Sword.
Roger lifted the weapon in his hand.
In the back of his mind, he faintly heard a voice echo by his ear.
“Slay, my knight!”
Sheathing the sword, Roger quickly walked toward Amanda.
The sword sheath he carried was one he had asked Goway to have made for him as soon as he received the Cursed Sword.
Amanda stood her ground, biting her lip, but as soon as she was near Roger, her entire body went limp and she collapsed.
“I said you only need to stand behind me and take care of yourself,” Roger said.
Hearing Roger’s words, the redhead girl frowned.
“I don’t want to stand behind you all the time; I want to stand in front.”
A thought struck Roger, and he found himself inexplicably considering another saying.
I want to be on top.
Uh…
Hopefully, this girl wouldn’t be as domineering in certain aspects as she was in battle.
Indeed, influenced by the company one keeps. Spending too much time with a guy like Henrik… sigh…
It’s inevitable that one’s thoughts are influenced.
Amanda, too, had simply had a brief outburst. Her body was slightly weary but she recovered after a short rest.
Walking ahead, Roger said, “Let’s go. We should check out this house and see what’s strange about it.”
He had already guessed that they were probably not in the real world at this moment but had strayed into a special area.
……
“Where are the people? Where did they go?”
Matt’s eyes widened, but in the surroundings, he could only see oddly shaped trees, and it seemed as if pairs of eyes in the darkness were stealthily watching him.
“Snap!”
A soft noise came from behind him, and out of instinct, Matt instantly drew his weapon.
Clang!
In the darkness, two sharp weapons clashed, sparks flying. In the close-quarters contact, Matt recognized the identity of the comer.
“Mr. Layhader?!”
“Why so impulsive?”
Layhader chided in a low voice, with several other figures appearing behind him.
They were the knights who had come with him to investigate the situation.
“What about those two kids?”
Layhader quickly realized something was amiss.
Without missing a beat, Matt recounted what had happened, leaving Layhader with furrowed brows after listening.
“This assessment task we drew involves the 16th page, Little Red Riding Hood, and I believe you’ve all heard of the monster within it. Under this full moon, the monster’s strength will be greatly enhanced.”
His gaze swept across the surrounding bushes. “Clearly, we are not in the story right now; this is a special area….”
“The place we’ve chosen is concealing a cunning creature.”
Layhader stretched out his hand, slowly sinking it into the soil, and after a moment, he stood up, his expression turning grave.
“The earth has refused my call, and the plants living here are concealing the creature’s tracks.”
“I think I have figured out who our opponent is.”
Layhader revealed a confident smile.
“Close to plants, able to control beasts simply, and in the woods, always almost as if non-existent….”
“It’s Spikenard!”
Matt blurted out.
“Mr. Layhader, the most important thing now is to find the other two who are up for assessment. We should terminate this task.”
“Retrieve that story.”
“It’s not that simple.”
Layhader, however, shook his head.
“Each story has its own set of rules, and we can only take back the page once the run has ended or the monster within has been killed.”
He gestured with his hand. “Come with me. I already know where they have been taken.”
Upon hearing his words, everyone felt greatly relieved.
Layhader may not have been particularly gifted, but he had been with the Round Table Knight Order for many years and had even killed two nefarious New Moon Witches on his own.
His great strength was evident.
He led everyone through the forest, quickly stopping in front of the trunk of an ancient banyan tree.
The banyan tree had grown for many years, its roots twisted and tangled, covering a large area.
“Chop it open!”
Layhader pointed to a particular area of the roots.
“Be careful with your strength, and don’t hurt the two of them.”
They’re in here?
The surrounding knights exchanged glances and swung their weapons.
Thud!
Matt’s sword struck down, but the sound that came through was not like chopping wood…
It was more like hitting a person.
Hisss!
He withdrew his weapon, and from the cut, streams of red liquid surged out, looking like fresh blood.
The trunk then began to squirm, and the leaves made strange sounds when they rubbed against each other, as if a person was moaning in pain.
“What the hell is this?”
Suppressing the curiosity and fear within their hearts, they worked together and quickly opened up a large gap in the body of the banyan.
Inside the gap, the tree’s interior writhed like flesh.
There, two young bodies were entwined together, naked.
From the looks on their faces, it seemed that something unspeakable had happened not long before.
The men exchanged weird looks.
“Don’t overthink it, they’ve just been poisoned. Hurry up and rescue them.”
Layhader frowned, seemingly sensing something continually.
Just then, roots hidden deep in the soil began to move, piercing towards the group like swords!
