Chapter 324 - Chapter 324 Chapter 324 Magician
Chapter 324: Chapter 324 Magician Chapter 324: Chapter 324 Magician “Bang!”
Roger kicked the door, which was already in tatters, and the impact instantly shattered it into pieces. He clenched the weapon in his hand and, with Amanda, stepped into the house.
Gloomy and dilapidated.
There was also a strange odor in the air.
A layer of dust covered the tables and chairs, while several spider webs hung in the corners with insects on them, rolling their prey into balls with their swollen bellies.
“Eh?”
Amanda’s voice came from behind.
“This place doesn’t look like someone lives here.”
Roger didn’t make a sound, his yellow, vertical pupils scanned carefully, until after a while, he reminded Amanda.
“Focus, observe more carefully.”
Amanda quickly snapped out of it.
This time, the scene of decay in front of her gradually disappeared, and the true sensory stimuli assailed Amanda.
In an ordinary farmhouse kitchen, Amanda saw a familiar face, except now, the owner of the face was reduced to just a head, soaked in water.
It was Rober.
The poor guy’s eyes had been gouged out, and his tongue was stretched long, hanging out of his mouth.
Next to it, a wooden basin was piled with a cluster of organs, devoid of any disguise, the pungent smell of blood invaded her nostrils.
“He’s been eaten very cleanly.”
“Maybe that creature started eating from the feet, and then he had to watch himself being devoured bit by bit.”
At that moment, there came a faint moaning from a table not far away.
Roger walked over.
Inola was stripped of her clothes and nailed to the table.
On her head, four thick, long wooden stakes had been driven in!
“Save me, someone save me?”
Inola repeated this sentence mechanically, her eyes glazed over, seemingly unable to see what was in front of her.
“She’s been incapacitated.”
Amanda sighed.
“Her mind is confined, and the bloodline that had just begun to awaken inside her was stripped away.”
Following the direction Amanda pointed, Roger saw a complex rune on Inola’s chest.
“That woman absorbed her special bloodline, and even if she is healed, she’ll only be a normal person.”
“Transcendence is hopeless.”
Roger was silent.
What happened to Inola reminded him of Henrik. But unlike her, Henrik fought with relentless willpower and perseverance, ultimately retrieving everything he had lost.
And then went further.
What awaited this girl?
Roger knew she had lost too much blood and there was almost no chance of rescue, most importantly she had lost her significant awakening bloodline.
Now her physical condition was not much stronger than an ordinary person’s.
“Tssk!”
Roger pulled out the nails that were confining Inola, and without the suppression, Inola quickly came to her senses.
To Roger’s surprise, the woman, seeing the terrible state of her body, did not scream or shout.
Even the sight of Amanda didn’t cause too much emotional fluctuation.
“I’m beyond saving, aren’t I?”
Inola propped herself up with the remnants of her broken, bone-exposed arm.
“You’ve won, Amanda.”
“Not only is your talent superior and your training more diligent,” she glanced at Roger.
“Even your taste in men is much better than mine.”
“Ha, maybe that’s fate. If not for me, maybe you would be the one enduring all of this now.”
“Shouldn’t you be thanking me?”
Amanda said nothing. She looked at the woman before her, wretched beyond imagination, and suddenly remembered the meaningful smile she saw on Margaret’s face when she entered the Transcendent realm.
“Do you want my help?”
She suddenly offered.
Inola first froze in astonishment, but the calm facade on her face quickly disintegrated as tears uncontrollably streamed down.
“Thank you.”
The scene before her rendered Amanda somewhat dazed; she suddenly remembered the black girl she had met in Baytown.
How long ago was that?
Amanda let out a long breath.
It had only been a few months, but why did it feel as long as ten years?
The flames in her hand soared, engulfing the pitiful woman before her.
It was at this moment that Amanda truly felt the completion of the Awakening Ceremony.
How could Margaret, with her strength, lack the necessary materials to train her own disciple? This too was part of the ritual.
The softer part of her heart was diminishing, her blood surged with something seemingly being stripped away.
“Magician, huh.”
Roger stood by, watching the transformation occurring in the red-haired girl. He had experienced something similar; compared to his first day in this world, Roger had changed too much.
The future might hold even more changes.
He patted the girl’s shoulder, pulling the red-haired child into his embrace.
“Let’s go, we’ll find a way to get out of here.”
……
From stillness to motion.
The roots buried in the soil attacked silently; the surrounding knights didn’t react in time, but their inattention didn’t mean Layhader hadn’t noticed.
[Blockade]
Layhader raised his right hand, and the next moment the earth beneath him erupted, awakening an unknown energy.
Hiss!
A piercing sound of slicing air echoed, as roots from all around, dense and numerous, closed off any space for evasion!
Either destroy the roots before him or stand still and await death.
There was no second option.
Matt and the others swung their weapons, but before they could even cry out, the roots bursting from the ground were simultaneously severed.
The earth trembled under Layhader’s feet; who would have thought that the soft soil could become as sharp as steel.
Then he turned his head, locking his gaze on a certain darkness.
“Found you!”
Layhader’s body surged forward, and at the same time, the roots around the banyan tree crazily attacked him.
Intent on blocking him, killing him.
But Layhader simply ran forward, wielding his Steel Sword, utterly ignoring the attacks at his feet.
Facing the overwhelming assault, his speed didn’t decrease in the slightest!
Finally, a creature hidden in the darkness drastically changed its expression. It detached itself from a large tree, revealing its slender and withered body.
It had a narrow, peculiar head.
Fine, sparse black hair tumbled down, its nose was straight with a hook-like curve, lips extremely thin and clenched together, and its chin was pointed like a weapon.
Its skin was pale, like the trunk of a tree stripped of its bark, wearing a black cloak, with its fingers replaced by thin, long roots.
Sipigeng, the Ghost of the forest, a cunning creature that hides in the shadows, seldom engaging in direct combat.
From a distance, through the interlaced branches, it watched Layhader running toward it, irritation flashing in its eyes, but soon it revealed a sinister smile to Layhader.
Choosing not to confront him head-on, Sipigeng turned tail and fled.
The plants in the forest went mad, as Matt and the others fought and retreated, gradually getting separated from Layhader.
Meanwhile, although Layhader was following Sipigeng from afar, he was constantly hampered and couldn’t close the distance between them.
Seeing that the creature was about to vanish into the depths of the dense woods, Layhader grew anxious. His face tensed as he released a yellow light from his hand!
“Swoosh!”
The light pursued Sipigeng at an incredible speed and severed one of its arms.
Turning around, Sipigeng cast a venomous look at Layhader and emitted a shrill scream.
That sound carried far and wide through the night.
Layhader, who was running, didn’t pay it any mind, but soon a low roar like a hurricane swept through the darkness.
Layhader’s expression drastically changed.
