Demon CEO's Hidden Love: Mr Grayson Stole Me From My Abusive Husband
Chapter 58: A Meal Of Laughter And Memories

Chapter 58: A Meal Of Laughter And Memories

Cassie couldn’t bring herself to take down the posts she had made, to her it was the only way to keep herself linked to the Grayson heir. But Ethan was persistent, and when he found out she still hadn’t taken down the posts, he took to threatening her.

At the breakfast table he cleared his throat, catching everyone’s attention.

"Is something wrong Ethan?" Luther asked, when he noticed Ethan had stopped eating.

He turned to Cassie and said, "I’m thinking of terminating my sponsorship deal with your agency."

Luther’s spoon fell out of his hand and into the bowl of soup in front of him. "What? Why? Did we do something to upset you?" Her father desperately asked.

Serena tapped her daughter’s legs under the table, trying to get her attention, but Cassie kept her eyes on her phone, completely ignoring what Ethan said.

Which only seemed to anger him more.

"It seems that your agency already has someone backing you up. I don’t see need to throw away money for a retiring actress." He said, earning a scowl out of Cassie.

"I am not retired!" She pointed her fork at him, she let out a scoff, "If you want to pull out, I can’t stop you, I wouldn’t want to inconvenience you any further." She said, implying that Ethan was at a monetary disadvantage.

Serena went pale, "Cassie! Hush! What are you saying?" She whispered loudly, unsure why both her daughters were acting out all of a sudden.

Luther banged his fist against the table, "Cassie watch your tongue! You’re retiring because you went and got yourself pregnant. Ethan is being considerate of your situation and still donating so much. Don’t you have any shred of gratitude?" Her father scolded harshly.

Serena swiftly inserted, "Come on now, apologize to him, it isn’t right you make him angry after he’s helped us so much."

But Cassie flared up, and stood up. "If that’s what you think, then maybe I’ll just abort the kid!" She spat out, as she walked away.

Ethan’s eyes darkened, he got up to go after her, his fists balled tightly. Thankfully, Luther noticed and stopped him. "She’s just young and impulsive," he turned to Serena and sent her a harsh glare. "Go talk some sense into her!"

Serena nodded and quickly went after her.

"I’ve had it with that woman! Brooke was no where as frustrating as she was!" Ethan yelled in an angry voice.

Luther stood defensively in front of him, "Please forgive her, I’ll fix everything for you."

Ethan turned to him, "Take that post off! I don’t want to see it by noon!"

Post? What post could’ve made Ethan this riled up? And why was he acting this way? Luther could tell something or someone had provoked Ethan into acting out.

"Of course, I’ll make up for everything, just trust me." Luther assured him, his gaze pointed at the direction Cassie ran off through.

He had a feeling that the reason for Ethan’s anger was the same thing behind Cassie’s recent lashing out.

Thane wheeled Brooke into the private room they would be having their meal. It had an ancient asian theme to it, and a hands on cooking set already prepared.

"Oh, I’ve never been to one of these places before." Brooke noted as Thane set her carefully on her cushioned seat.

Circling over to his, he responded, "Neither have I."

"What? No way. I figured someone like you would’ve been to a bunch of these places already." She spat out.

Thane rested his chin on his palm and sent her a warm smile. "Someone like me?" He asked, making conversation as they waited for the staff to attend to them.

"I-I mean someone who travels a lot for business, like you do. You know, I don’t really go to so many places, so I figured a more out going person has had more of these experiences." she said, trying to sound less offensive.

He retained his smile, "I don’t travel all that much. My family’s business is based abroad, I only came down here to meet you." he replied, his tone low and serious.

Brooke cracked a nervous laughter, "Oh, you mean to get back at Ethan." She corrected.

"No, I-"

*Knock*

A knock from the door stole Brooke’s attention. It was the staff who had come with the ingredients for the meal. They came in one after the other and set everything on the table.

The manager, a middle aged Asian woman bowed her head to them. "Please, if you need us to prepare the meal for you, don’t hesitate to ask."

"That won’t be necessary, you may leave us." He dismissed them.

"Very well then, please enjoy your meal." The manager said, then left with the rest of the staff who had come out just to greet him.

Naturally, Thane turned on the stove and set the pot on it. He took out the already prepped ingredients and started setting them up.

"Is there anything I can help with?" Brooke eagerly asked, rolling up the sleeves of the jacket, her eyes lit up with fascination.

"I’d prefer it if you laid back and did nothing-"

She cut him off by picking up the tray of vegetables and the knife next to them. "How about we make chicken broth?" She asked, her tone laced with childlike amusement.

Thane half smiled. "Whatever you’d like."

Brooke smiled back. Ever since the incident with the burnt food, she had been looking for another chance to make it up to Thane. And now, it was like the universe was playing into her hand.

"Let me stir it."

"Don’t add too much or else you’ll-"

*Ah-choo!*

Brooke let out a sneeze, her eyes widened in shock from pouring in too much pepper in one go. She looked at Thane, who couldn’t hold back his laughter, over how animated her face looked.

She in turn found herself smiling, seeing Thane laugh made her insides tingle, a feeling she had never felt when she was with Ethan.

They both laughed, over the sound of the boiling pot, filled with their memories of their first ever date.
