Chapter 332: 136.Book Knight_2

Or perhaps, this was not just the will of Lunxis, but more likely that of Gedelin IX?

Then, the second possibility is that there are relics here or a mechanism triggered by magic.

Magic comes with Emblems, and there would be fluctuation of Magic Power. Fisher is very familiar with the structure of magic, needing only a glance at a magic to know how it operates; whereas relics, although they leave no Trace, if you can see a relic with the naked eye, you can keenly feel that it is not an ordinary object. This is also why Fisher had Anna and her group search for any strange items.

"Strange, there’s no fluctuation of the Magic Emblem here. Could it be that Blake used a relic as a switch?"

After scanning the nearby ground floor, Fisher didn’t find any Trace of magic and turned his attention back to the line of inquiry regarding relics.

It was very likely, especially after confirming the relationship between Blake and Mu Xi, the Whale-man capable of crafting relics.

Moli followed behind Fisher, scanning the surroundings with the light and found nothing but books and tables for reading. They passed through the shelves and returned to the center, where Anna and Xiayat were also regrouping at the central location.

"Did you find anything over there?"

Anna shook her head and said,

"Besides the switches for controlling the lighting and the overhead glass dome, there’s just books..."

The main part of the library had no windows, so from the beginning, the large glass dome overhead had been designed to serve as a massive window. At this moment, all the glass was closed up, and Fisher looked up at those glass windows to find no trace of Magic Power fluctuations.

"Could it be on the second floor?"

The Moon in the Sky had already started to tilt, with less than four hours before dawn. Fisher wondered if Blake knew of his escape and didn’t dare to take any chances, so he quickened his pace and shifted his focus to the second and third floors.

The ground floor of the library was filled with academic and historical books, while the second and third floors held storybooks, fairy tales, and illustrations. The spaces on these floors were obviously smaller than the ground floor, with shelves that were fixed and immovable, not to mention devoid of any relics or Emblems of magic.

Unwilling to believe it, Fisher, Anna, and their group found nothing after searching the library for an hour. It was already past midnight, and Anna and Xiayat were somewhat exhausted and rested on the ground floor for a while, leaving only Fisher and Moli still searching on the second floor.

This fruitless search left Fisher puzzled; could it really be a physical switch? But that would be too obvious. The library had been built for so many years now, and all subsequent maintenance had been the responsibility of the Imperial Family. Could they really be so foolish as to never have discovered it?

It made no sense...

Eventually, Moli and Fisher began to flip through the books on the shelves haphazardly, wondering if a relic was hidden among them, like a bookmark...

But if so, without knowing the specific book, finding that relic would be quite challenging. Were they really going to wait for Blake to show up and settle the matter in a deadly battle?

Moli and Fisher were on the second floor, currently engrossed in reading the third edition of the "Nali Heroes Story." They had been searching for over an hour, and Fisher told her to rest while he pondered the possibilities of entering the treasury once more.

The book contained accounts of many official and folkloric heroes from the era of Gedelin I to Gedelin V. Moli was reading the opening story about Gedelin I, detailing his decision to refrain from using massive siege weapons to avoid harming the citizens within the city, ultimately choosing to retreat.

The General of the Central Empire defending the city was moved by the compassion and wisdom of Gedelin I. He knew the Empire was too corrupt and its time was over, but he could not betray his loyalty towards it. Thus, he resolved to commit suicide for his country but ordered his subordinates to follow Gedelin I upon his death.

"The Empire’s ship has seen me through half my life, I cannot bring myself to abandon it; you younger folks have only been on board for a while, so of course you have the right to choose a new ship. That ship is larger, more spacious, and its Captain wiser. Go, after I am gone, leave and follow the new master."

Moli gaped, a legendary tale surfacing in her mind, the image of the stalwart and wise Gedelin I leaping off the page and into her head...

"...Heh, this story is false. The real reason Gedelin I decided to give up the siege was the lack of supplies, not enough to last until the next assault; and that General didn’t commit suicide for his country willingly, it was his subordinates who thought defending the city was hopeless and chose to kill the General to defect..."

"Woah! Ghosts!"

Just as Moli was absorbed in the story, a nasally male voice suddenly blared beside her. She was abruptly yanked out of the world of the story, startled so much that she swung a punch instinctively, striking it hard against a very thick and ancient book.

The book was originally open, and the punch sent it flying, spinning several times in mid-air before crashing onto the floor.
