Chapter 303: 125. Embarrassed Fate

"Oh no, more bugs are coming!"

As an endless stream of insects emerged from the ventilation duct, Moli screamed from behind Fisher. When Fisher turned around, he saw many large-eyed bugs climbing over the crystal glass behind them. Unlike the ones buzzing in front, these silent and stealthy insects crept toward Moli.

It wasn’t until Moli’s sandal-clad feet felt the touch against her skin that she instinctively closed her eyes and yelled, flinging her tail with immense force, sending a multitude of bugs flying away.

The large bugs thrown into the air constantly shifted and moved. Numerous tiny silhouettes slowly joined together with the ones falling from the ventilation pipe. Out of the disgusting, stench-ridden swarm of insects, a woman with fair skin stood up—naked, but her face lifted in a hate-filled and greedy malice.

"Fisher Benavides, do you think standing with the Royal Family and winning their favor will allow you to escape safely? You will die here in the most miserable way. The Son of the Sea, you can’t take her with you. She belongs to the master..."

"Even if you didn’t say so, I’d still be looking for that Old Immortal to settle the score properly."

Fisher didn’t waste words and simply raised his Fluid Sword. In the next second, the mercury-like blade swept across half the chamber and instantly pierced through her body. But just like before, it was futile; her body contained no blood, and her smile only grew more ferocious after the strike.

She raised her bare hand, and from underneath her, countless wriggling, large maggots spread out like a flood tide. Upon a closer look, the harmless-looking worms lifted their heads high, revealing a sizable mouth full of sharp serrated teeth.

Fisher still couldn’t work out how Blake had transformed these original humans into their present form. Judging by the modifications seen in Kachina and the Kraken, they seemed no longer eligible to be called human.

This process differed from the piecing together of bodies with Human Worms. Fisher quietly categorized this additional biotechnology as part of the knowledge contained in Blake’s Completion Manual. But now wasn’t the time to consider how they achieved it; instead, he needed to think about how to deal with the enemy at hand...

Watching the oncoming swarm of insects, a faint trace of black surged in Moli’s eyes. She suddenly pointed a finger at the distant insects, ready to harness the power of curse to annihilate them.

However, her body remained soft and normal, not entering the state of curse manipulation.

This must also be considered a result of her recent training; when conscious, she could now use a bit of the curse power inside her, but only a little.

As the curse that absorbed Life Energy was activated, the maggots on the ground fell one after the other, turning to ash and disappearing on the spot. Seeing the effect, Moli’s expression slightly changed. She turned to Fisher and said,

"Fisher... no, it’s not right. Those bugs don’t have any Life Energy in them!"

"No Life Energy?"

Fisher turned his head to look at Kachina, who was slowly moving, and once more he cut down a group of large bugs with his Fluid Sword. The bugs writhed and quickly turned to ash, vanishing on the spot as well.

He seemed to understand something, suddenly pulled Moli back, and shouted at her,

"Go, check behind the shelf for any clues we can take away. Let’s look for evidence first, don’t bother with her."

Moli didn’t know what Fisher’s real intention was, but without much thought, she nodded and ran behind the shelf with Fisher.

In front, an array of lab equipment and bookshelves caught Fisher’s eye.

"Buzz, buzz, buzz!"

The incessant approach of insects gave them no time to breathe. To search for evidence, Fisher had Moli hold off the bugs, asking her to reduce the number of times she used the curse. He was worried she would overuse it and enter a frenzied state, attacking friend and foe alike.

He, on the other hand, focused on the lab equipment and experimental reports. He needed to find proof that the Healing Room and Blake had conducted human experiments.

He wasn’t going after Kachina first because Fisher noticed that bugs were continuously generated around her, like an infinite production, simply unkillable.

Or rather, had those bugs not died at all, and Kachina’s body could have decomposed into countless insects? As long as one wasn’t dead, they’d keep producing bugs without Life Energy?

But heaven knows where the bug holding Kachina’s Life Energy truly was.

However, Fisher had a way to deal with her. He still had a playing card engraved with Dragon-man Species Flame Magic in his pocket. As soon as he found the evidence, Fisher was ready to set the place ablaze, burning everything, including Kachina.

But upon closer inspection, the equipment appeared quite ordinary, likely something akin to retired and outdated maintenance chairs. Therefore, Fisher turned his attention to the materials further behind.

Ledgers, stock in and out records, work manuals, experimental Records...

Piles of neatly arranged books and records faced Fisher, being scanned one by one by his gaze. He picked up a couple of them, flipped open to see, and inside, the Nali text precisely recorded the number of bodies purchased by the Healing Room this month and the number of people taken over from Pink Hall.
